Good morning!
This morning is supposed to be rainy. Then it will be hot and humid again.
We are getting to the annual point where they will be allowed to shoot fireworks. Frankie is simply freaked out by them. Even with drugs. I usually have to drive her once a day to the next county where unless someone is shooting illegally, I give her a quiet chance to do her business. In years past, it has been hard to find a place to take her within 15-20 miles. It is only for a few days, but it can be a long few days.
Collin has had a few learning pains, and is tired at the end of a long week, but he seems to be fitting in at his new work, and he is getting more comfortable with it. He is liking it more than any job he has had to date. We are praying hard for him. This one is starting at $19.95 per hour, and after a year, he will be eligible to join the Teamster's union. This could be a career position if he lets it be.
I was hoping to get a little yard work done yesterday, but Connie and I went exploring a new to us antique shop 30 miles from here, and we also planted another 36 flowers in her flower bed at the cemetery to replace the ones that the deer had eaten. Because it is end of season for annuals, we were able to purchase the flat of 36 flowers for a total of $5.00. What a bargain!
I still have not gotten on my bike yet this year. That is next on my list of things I want to do. I have also not spent much time with my camera. I will be doing that more too.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
Thanks for the supportive words. Yesterday was a good day off with dogs, my M, and a satisfying, but not exhausting, bit of yard work. It definitely helped me hit "reset".
I have a visiting veterinarian from the Netherlands today. He is an acquaintance that will possibly become a friend. He has had a similar career and practice as me in the Netherlands, but has also developed a surgical patient heating pad that we use. One of the pads caused a burn which we reported and he called me personally to discuss. A welcome distraction, at the least.
My supervisor will also make an appearance today to officially announce to the staff that toxic partner doctor will not be returning.
Weather cooled off. Nice.
Tomatoes are looking good, but one plant's leaves started looking a little curly, so I sprayed all plants with an Epsom salt solution. Already seeing some red cherry tomatoes. BLT season is on the horizon.
Onward and Downward ;-)

Good morning gentlkemen.
Today is the say my mom's ashes are to be interred in the cemetery. so I am, driving down to Salem. I'm meeting my brother and sister at a restaurant located in the historic mill district where my mom's weaving group meets. She and dad spent a lot of time there over the years, so it's appropriate to meet there. Afterwards we will head to the cemetery. I had planned to spend the night, but they are closing the freeway south of Portland for the weekend for a big construction project. To avoid the traffic nightmare, I will just drive back today.
In retirement, I find it helpful to plan my week, Steve. That way I make sure I get in the things I think are important, whether they be bike rides, kayak trips or whatever. Effective relaxation takes planning.
Slow and easy improvement, Bill.
Enjoy the day, guys.0 -
Good Morning
Heather re-retires today so we can focus on getting back on decluttering, packing etc. I am still tracking down a Handyman to replace the laundry valves and do some other minor repairs. Right now we aren’t getting any cold water in the new washer. I will work the phone this morning and get hold of someone. If not I will have to call the plumber and at least get the valves done. The other stuff can wait.0
