Happy 4th of July!
We won't be doing much to celebrate the holiday today, but I still wish you all a happy holiday. For a variety of reasons, this is our least favorite holiday. I do, however, value and appreciate the meaning behind the holiday.
We had 4.07 inches of rain since midnight. This is on top of all the rain we received earlier this week, and we are expecting more rain today/tonight. We are going to see some major flooding I think. The rivers are at or beyond capacity right now. It has just been a crazy, hot, humid, over wet summer so far.
The cat on my lap does not like it when I type on my laptop. I need to trim her talons, but she always puts up such a fight. I tried yesterday, but was only able to get to of her sharp hooks trimmed. I'll try again today.
Have a great day!

Good morning gentlemen.
Well, we're looking at 85, sunny and low humidity for Independence Day. This will be followed by six days in the 90s. That qualifies as a heat wave around here. It will be even hotter for Bob, 100 miles south of here.
When I took Sassy out last night it sounded like a firefight was going on down the street, with all the illegal fireworks going off. Sassy showed no interest in it at all. I feel for Frankie and all the other pets that get freaked out.
We might go watch the parade this morning, but otherwise have no plans. Think I'll throw brats on the grill for supper.0 -
Mornin' gents
I too, appreciate the celebration of the 4th of July, but wish only professional displays were legal. Personal fireworks are frought with danger and certainly cause significant distress in a lot of dogs. I spent a fair amount of time the last two days filling sedatives for dogs whose owners suddenly realized July 4th was today and their pup needed meds. Oy.
I always want to say, "Your poor planning does not constitute an emergency on my part" to those folks calling the day before.
Happy Fourth!

Morning. Love the 4th of July, childhood memories of sparklers, trips to the town park to sit on a blanket in the sand in the dark, earth shaking kabooms, falling asleep on the ride home, all day neighborhood picnics. God bless America, land of the free.
My small town was in gridlock last night, cars parked both sides of the road for a mile in all directions for the Rutland fireworks display. We also have a roadrace, a parade (farms tractors, horses and carriages, firetrucks, anything on wheels...) a tricycle and doll carriage parade, a fireman's chicken barbeque, strawberry shortcake festival, etc. etc.
No plans so far today. Still cleaning and putting away camping junk... Oy.
Happy Independence day folks.0 -
Hope all have a GREAT 4th,
No plans for today,
Will put a couple slabs of baby back ribs on Weber for a slow smoke,
Pablo has been out 3.18 miles, Hot and HUMID, expecting heat index of 109 this afternoon.
There are several events around today, just do not want to deal with heat and crowd.
Fireworks do not seem to bother Pablo.0 -
Good Morning! Happy 4th of July to all!
Brutal 107 degree heat continues through the week any beyond so we will be staying in except for grilling some chicken kebobs this evening. Yesterday’s shopping was enough to convince me. Most daytime community events have been cancelled anyway.0
