Rise and shine…
Nice cool morning here finally.
Love bacon but too much, or ham, or cold-cuts in general, and I get heart palpitations. I once cooked a pound of bacon in a tiny 5” skillet (camping and I packed poorly). Put the whole pound in and just kept turning it with a fork. Came out best bacon ever.
Canoe trip yesterday was great—lots of herons, and a beaver young’un swimming beside us, and loads of birds singing along the marshes and riverbanks.
My balcony potted plants are doing okay but morning glories have zero flowers so far. Everything Needs lots of water in this summer heat.
I’m off to regulate that piano in a bit.
Lee, better hire a cleaning crew to blitz your place before the fam shows up.
Steve, hope they get DW’s issues diagnosed and then treated successfully soon. How’s Colin’s job going?
Bill, good to hear about your walking success—takes awhile to build up aerobic health again. “May the road rise before you…”
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Mornin' gents.
Cool this morning. 57 degrees. I was actually chilly when I got up and had to turn off all the fans bringing the cool air into the house.
The humidity just takes it out of me.
Sounds like a wonderful day on the water, Mike. LOVE the serene canoe scene.
My tomato plants have yielded only a smattering of tomatoes. Last night I made caprese salad with store bought tomatoes and I was underwhelmed. At least the basil was from my herb box.
I am not going to even try to clean to the degree M keeps things. I don't want her to think I can live without her. I will have freshly cleaned sheets on the bed and I will vacuum and I will swiffer and windex the counters in the kitchen and that should be enough to prevent her from putting on the rubber gloves when she comes through the door tomorrow night.

Good morning!
Mike, that is a beautiful picture! I would love to canoe or kayak there. wow!
Lee, you have the right idea with the cleaning. When I do the house cleaning, I am often under close supervision. Once in a while I will here "missed that spot, do it again". Sigh....
Collin is starting to settle into his job. We are still very hopeful that this is "the one".
I was going to go for a bike ride this morning, and then get some more yard work done today with the beautiful weather. I am so stiff and sore from yesterday that the bike ride is on hold, and I don't know if any real yard work will be done today or not. I really need to run the little tiller in the garden. I have a big tiller for turning the soil, and a little 2-cycle tiller for getting weeds out of the garden.
BLTs were great! I'll have to get some Montreal Steak Seasoning. I've had it before, and had forgotten about it. That is a great recommendation.
Have an awesome day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Enjoying a cup of coffee before I get hopping and out the door for a hike in the Olympic Mountains. Planning a tough one up to a lake I haven't visited in several years. We'll see how it goes. Forecast is for 82 down here, but 20 degrees cooler up in the alpine zone.
Love the photo, Mike. I envy your canoe adventures.
I don't do any housekeeping. If I did, I am sure I would fail to meet Rita's standards.0 -
Good Morning,
Walking down hill or downstairs puts lots of pressure on knees,
With Pablo in house, it is hard to keep clean especially with him going in and out and not caring whether he is clean or dirty. When we had Sunny and Roxie, they could not stand to be dirty and made sure the other was groomed. Generally, DW keeps house clean, and I care for yard, garden and flower beds.
Steve, I have learned even when sore and/or tired to keep going and will feel better sooner than resting waiting for energy and muscles to feel better. As I age, I always find more aches and pains; keep on keeping on keeps one from focusing on ills. In other words keep moving no matter what.0 -
Good Morning
Forecast shifted yesterday morning from mid 80’s to upper 90’s + so I will head out the door for my walk next. I am back doing some hills today after we walked flat yesterday. I am starting to try to do a little housework each day but I do get tired afterward so it takes effort to push out of the chair and get moving again.0 -
Wow nice canoe scene photo for sure!! I did most of my hard climb up to skyline on Wednesday. At the tippy top (last 200 yd they were chip sealing and had the road basically blocked so I turned around. Still climbed 1500 feet on my bike though. A nice ride for sure.
Warming up today near 90 and maybe 95deg tomorrow. We are almost always warmer than Dave in Tumwater/Olympia area by 5 degrees or so.
Stay comfy all.0
