My hand arthritis has flared up from using a bow saw and hatchet to cut firewood last week. Mostly the base of my thumbs and pinky knuckles. I did buy some cut and split bundles of firewood, but needed more and used driftwood from the beach and some fallen pine saplings. Long logs can sometimes be burnt by laying the ends on the fire and feeding them in as they burn, but the metal fire ring was too high for that to work well. In my paddling travels I came upon an empty campsite with firewood left behind, always a nice windfall when camping.

I do find that regular piano practice weems to reduce my arthritis pain, which seems odd but I'll take it.

Sam, was there much damage/flooding in your area? I was away from the news while Helene was bellowing, and checking online now it looks like parts of the SE region were really devastated.

    Time for me coffee.

    Good morning!

Sam, did you have any damage from Helena? My wife's sister and brother both live in Ft. Meyers, and they had flooding around them, but they were both OK. My DBIL works for Bass Pro. His store was flooded, and he'll be on cleanup for a while. My DSIL works for a chiropractor and their office was open the day after landfall.

Mike, with my arthritis, they told me that regular exercise is good for the arthritis. Typing helps my fingers. My shoulders are bothering me the most right now, and I don't know what to do for them yet. We had a cold front come through last night. They said that today would be bad for people with arthritis. I hope not.

I hope that today will be a little slower. Yesterday was very busy again, but I got most of my chores done for the week.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin' gents

I almost walked out of my pain management appointment yesterday. The intake nurse was all confused with information that did not jibe with my case and then tried to get me to pick a specific location on my body where it hurt. She didn't understand that with my condition that everything hurts. Finally the doc came in and he obviously understood. I liked him. He and I agreed that a trial of gabapentin once daily prior to bedtime might be helpful. I am suppose to start a low dose on the weekend when I do not have to go to work in case it makes me woozy. I go back to see him in 3 weeks.
I agree with keeping everything moving. I would love to get back to the gym, but I can barely to my yoga stuff without significant discomfort, so I will stick with yoga for now. Basically the yoga I do is a body weight workout and the less I weigh, the better I do.
    Good luck in Vegas!
Yep, sometimes it takes a couple of extra aspirations before the hematoma stops filling.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good Morning

Perhaps this Board should be called Aches & Pains rather than Men’s Health. Final day exiting the house before the paint crew arrives tomorrow. A few things to move to the garage and a lot to take to the thrift store. I got a little painting to do as well. Tomorrow the POD goes away, this weekend the rest will be loaded and shipped out. 104 is the forecast today with more on tap the rest of the week. Florence Oregon is looking at 65 degrees.

    Good morning gentlemen.

Sixty-five is warm for Florence this time of year. Going to be 104 here in Vegas, too.

Got here OK, yesterday, but the room is disappointing: on a low floor with no view and in need of updates. So it goes. Never complain too much when the room is complimentary. Had a late supper then played for a while. I was really tired, so we were back in the room by 11. Looking for a better day, today.

The exercise thing seems to work for my arthritic knees, but the more I do with my hands the more my thumbs and fingers hurt. After a long day in the shop, I have trouble holding a glass.

yup Nice weather for Florence. Vegas is... well Vegas hot.
    a
That is just ridiculous Lee. I too don't like the way various intake nurses or whomever ask there dumb questions from a script ignoring all known facts.

My hands get too cold too easily and then don't work right. I use to soak them sometimes in warm/hottish water and dry them with a hairdryer before playing guitar sometimes too in a cool/chilly environment.
My left knee seems to be doing a bit better daily since I aggravated it a couple of weeks ago. Yup the aches and pains board here. Hangin' in there.

I had a photo featured by our local chief metereologist (local Fox channel KPTV Portland Oregon) with my name attached. With a lady out for maternity leave he showed it on 5 of 7 evening news weather segments since he was working extra to cover. I had submitted it but was shocked to see it on TV.

It was a "Circumhorizontal Arc" sometimes called a "Circumhorizontal Rainbow" or "Fire Rainbow". It is formed from Cirrus cloud ice crystals catching light from the sun from about 44 degrees away. An amazing array of Cirrus clouds across so much of the sky!! It differs from "Sun Dogs" which are vertical rainbow arcs about 22 degrees from the sun.

    Fun indeed.

    Good Afternoon,
    Physical torture this morning,
Took Pablo for walk where he saw some squirrels and birds he believed he needed to chase, shoulder did not appreciate activity.
Met with heating and air guy, our systems are 19 years old and cannot get parts for them any longer. Can't believe how expense new systems have gotten. better to look now while units are still working.
Circumhorizontal Arc sounds interesting have never seen one.
Sorry about room Dave, but still sounds better than what we had last week.
No storm damage here other than leaves covering everything. Some in town have trees down and power outages. About thirty miles east of here is really bad and they are telling them not to expect power till 9th or 10th of October. Understand South Georgia is really bad also, have not been able to contact family down there.
I see Rheumatologist this Friday, she is very good and have been seeing her for seventeen years. Keeps me going.
