Voted around noon yesterday, only a few people ahead of me in line. Outside there was the forest of signs for candidates I never heard of and sign holders waving and smiling. One question on our ballot was whether we wanted a property tax increase that wasn't really a tax. Town just raised tax rate last year...
Went to look at a Steinway upright piano yesterday, in a warehouse 1/2 hour away. Incredibly dusty, painted 'woodgrain pattern' over original varnished mahogany but seemingly in playable condition with one hitch--it's missing all the black keys. $99 or best offer. I almost would buy it if I had a place to work on it. Made in 1891 in the factory in NYC where my grandfather worked from 1880-1920 in the varnishing department. Steinway uprights restored go for 10's of thousands. If I were young again.
DD bought a car, I'm driving her to get it today. Now she's looking for a place of her own to live.
Working on time management for myself; I seem to lapse into wasting hours binging the internet, an almost complete waste of time, while other necessary stuff goes undone. One of the dangers of retirement I suppose.

Going down rabbit holes on the internet is the modern version of getting bogged down with a good newspaper or a library full of good reference books. It's just a wee bit easier. I remember me dad spending almost the whole morning on Monday, he was busy on Sundays, with the Sunday paper.
Another day, another dollar.

Mike, I hear you about the computer. I started playing this game called Forge of Empires about five years ago. I can spend hours on it a day, and not get things done that I'd really like to do, such as spend time outside. I could use better time management with that. It all comes down to choices, and so far for me, the easy choice is to reach for the computer.
I'm not sure what is on tap for today. Frankie woke me at 5:00. I want to spend some time doing yard work. I have a jillion leaves to pick up. I have to fix my mower first. The deck is not level.

Good morning gentlemen.
I miss newspapers. When I was growing up, we took two, morning and evening, and I read both, from front to back. When I was in graduate school I'd ride to the public library and read three or four papers. Now, most local papers are dying or dead.
I ran the mower over our leafy yard yesterday. That was my second leaf pickup. There will likely be at least two or three more. We did remove one large tree last year, so it isn't quite as bad. Rita uses the chopped-up leaves as mulch or compost in her garden beds.
Had a rough time sleeping. Got about 5 hours, I guess. But the sun will shine today. I will count my many blessings and get on with getting on.0 -

I really looked forward to Sunday newspaper, in 2008 they quit delivering papers out this way and tried to get everyone to buy online subscriptions. Paper out here is weekly and sometimes as large as 12 pages. Though it is getting hard to see print even on those few pages. Tired of using magnifying glass.
I'm back up to doing >3 miles with Pablo and left knee is killing me as well as left arm and shoulder.
Backyard is covered with leaves, once through with garden will dump leaves in garden beds. Picked okra and eggplant yesterday, getting several tomatoes a week now and peppers are loaded and still blooming. We do not have any trees in front so only get what few leaves blow in from across street.0 -

Back when I lived in Philadelphia when I had much more hair and wore much smaller size, I remember Sundays where the chief activity on a Sunday was to grab coffee, fresh bagels & schmear, perhaps a friend or two and devour the Philadelphia Inquirer section by section. On nice days you could go to the park and spend hours with smattering of conversation. I believe it is often referred to as "the good old days".
We looked at 3 homes in Florence with our local realtor yesterday. One was right in so many ways, the only question was if the smaller foot print was workable for some of our purposes. It doesn't matter until we sell our California Townhome. We then had a long conversation with our Californi realtor on the state of affairs and plan forward. We will extend our stay here till the end of December and then relocate to Florence to someplace smaller since my son will have moved out by then. Nothing on tap today. A few quick errands to do and a walk. Hungarian Goulash tonight. I need to check if I have hot paprika.0
