KC Defense and Kelce did me a fantasy solid this weekend. Exciting finish to the game with another W for the Chiefs.
I had plans yesterday to get a couple of things done, but my body said to take it easy, so I did. I did have a very mild elevation in body temp (99.5). I am wondering if I am fighting off something viral. Whole body aching. Maybe it was the fall in the parking lot, but I think I was feeling off before then. Normal temp this am and feeling refreshed.
I will say that with the cooler nights, my mattress heating pad is super nice.
Last night I experimented with by breaking down a chuck eye roast (not all chuck roasts have a good chuck eye) into 2 chuck eye steaks and 4 short rib sections then reverse seared them. $6.99/lb. Very well marbled meat. Cooked to medium (just pink). Both cuts had about the same degree of chew as a sirloin, lots of flavor, but not melt in your mouth tender. The challenge was making sure you got the cut against the grain right with the short rib sections. After the cook it was hard to see the grain, so next time I will stick a tooth pick in with grain so I will get it right first slice. Not something I would serve company, but good enough for me. The other option would be to braise the short rib section or use it for a beef stew.
Served with oven roasted sweet potato slices. I have also been eating a fair amount of spaghetti squash.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning!
Sounds good, Lee. Get to feeling better soon!
Thank you to all of you veterans in our group. I sincerely appreciate your sacrifice and service.
Today is chore day and then start picking up leaves. I have a ton of leaves. It has been too wet recently to get them picked up, but now it is sunny and warm. Ugh. I hate this part of fall.
Have a great day.0 -
Good Morning,
Are you finding it hard to stick to WW Lee? Hope you are feeling better soon.
Steve, we had a neighbor that looked forward to leaf season, he would rake them up and blow on onto our yard then burn them, scorched several trees where they died then his wife got upset when I cut them down.
Physical therapy this morning, so will not make it to Veterans Assembly at high school; and will miss prime rib dinner tonight because we have lodge.
Pablo got up twice during night having to go out, on walk this morning he didn't poop or pee.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Lousy weather, today: rain and wind. Rita has a mid-day appointment for a balance test at a hearing and balance clinic. She did one of these 18 years ago, and it made her dizzy and nauseous for the rest of the day. Hope the aftereffects of this one aren't as bad.
A couple years back Costco had specials for prime chuck roast. Even as pot roast or stew you could really taste the difference. Sadly, all they have now is choice. I fell off the WW wagon pretty hard, with cake served at church fellowship in honor of Veterans Day. It was my duty as a vet, right? Anyway, back on program today. I'll make some chicken soup for my supper.0 -
Good Morning
The rain held off yesterday so we did a bit of exploring and walked on a trail along the Willamette River in Eugene. We look forward to exploring that area more. Today is a bit messy out there so we will probably stay put except for a quick run to the store for a few groceries. Celtic Advent starts Friday and I need candles. All that stuff was packed and is in storage. Our house was open for the weekend with some decent traffic. We will see if anything comes of it.0 -
Not really hard to stick to WW, Sam.
Just spending my points on red meat every once in a while. I can only eat so much chicken breast and eggs.0
