    Good morning!

We had record rain yesterday which we needed. We had very high winds yesterday which we did not need. Yard cleanup probably tomorrow. Today I still have some house cleaning chores and other odds and ends.

I did get Connie signed up for Medicare Part G yesterday. We went with AARP - United Healthcare. Now, I need to sign her up for Part D, Dental and Vision. I am looking at AARP again for Part D. I don't know at all about Dental and Vision. We are both on a plan now through Golden Rule, which is part of United Healthcare. That plan runs out in May when I go on Medicare. I'm thinking that I want to find something for Connie now so that I get it during open enrollment and I won't have to worry about it. Suggestions welcome!

    Praying for Sam's DW biopsy.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin' gents.

Well, at least you don't have to worry about bits of thigh bone fractured by a lead pellet, or the lead pellet itself with Costco Chicken. I'm pretty good at trimming and picking all that out before the cook, but I chew carefully. The recipe I use also gives a substitution of rotisserie chicken.
    Still eating on it.
My practice manager's 7 yr old daughter asked me why I hunt. I explained in big words about how honest it was to hunt for your food. Kind of like growing your own vegetables. I guess the kid regurgitated every thing at home that night and my PM thanked me for now having to explain to her child why her dad doesn't hunt. Her dad, a really nice guy, is a huge meat eater (loves my BBQ), but is not a hunter.
I got something about medicare supplement from AARP the other day in the mail. Haven't opened it yet.
Good luck with all that, Steve. Way over my head.
Stingy rain. Yup, I've had that experience. Almost as bad as being waterboarded with torrential rain.
Just wondering how much of that table of your wood turnings you were able to unload, Dave. If you sold 50%, that is product that you don't have to store. I understand how the profit loss margin is a non factor. Kind of like hunting and fishing. Calculating the cost of the game and fish per lb that make it to the table is something I no longer do. M likes to say (as she rolls her eyes) it is way more expensive than anything protein you buy at the butcher shop or fish market. But she lets me do it anyway.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

Stormy day expected today. The coast and the Cascade foothills could see winds over 80 mph. They are telling people to plan for power outages. It's good that most of the leaves are already down or outages would be more widespread.

There are constantly plans to expand Medicare to include hearing, dental and prescriptions, but insurance and drug company lobbyists always head them off. They would have to raise the income levels that pay taxes to cover the costs, too. Can't interfere with corporate profits or tax everyone the same, you know. Sigh.

Rita thinks we sold about half of the stuff we had out at the bazaar. It felt that way, by weight, anyway. I was out in the shop yesterday, making more stuff. Small, lidded containers sold out, so I am making more of those. Turned two pots from madrone yesterday, with really pretty grain. Today I will turn walnut lids for them. I'll try to do some more wet turning of the big pieces of walnut and madrone out under tarps and plastic in the yard, too.

    Good Morning,
Dave there should be a studio or gallery that would love to display and sale your turnings on a percentage, but then it would be a job and business.
Glad I do not have to worry about insurance, I had to continue working in Atlanta long after it was no longer fun; but our Medicare is supplemented the balance of our lives and includes vision, dental, life policy, hearing.
We are supposed to have rain coming in today, Pablo has his annual checkup with shots this morning.
I enjoyed hunting quail in their natural habitat, farming changed which done away with habitat, caged quail not as tasty nor as large. Now folks pay over a $1,000 a day to hunt on farm in which quail are released from cages morning of hunts.

    Good Morning

I imagine it is a tough balancing act to know when a hobby remains a hobby and a passion and hasn't turned into a business with all its demands.

I have been on AARP/United Heathcare Plan G & D since I went on Medicare in Dec 2018. It has served me well and I generally can get a helpful person on the phone if I have a question. I will renew with them again. We are going to try the AARP discounts for Dental & Vision. The last time I paid for private Dental Insurance it didn't seem to save me as much as it cost. If you know of decent coverage I would love to know about it. Staying put today. I have been struggling with the return of my stomach distress issues and a slight cold. I will take it easy today.

We ended up getting upwards of 2" of graupel mixed with hail on the roads near my house yesterday. Some folks did get some snowflakes at times too. Kinda a wild weather day.
Yeah we are getting the same weather prediction as Dave with the higher wind gusts probably just offshore and some in the foothills. We might possibly see upwards of 40-45 mph later today. Hard to predict.

I agree with Lee about not pricing freshly caught/shot food BUT it can be fresher than store bought. Best Steelhead and King Salmon I have eaten was two that I caught fishing the Rogue River and ate them from a BBQ grill that had fresh Alder branches thrown on it to give that smoked Alder flavor (some lemon pepper too and butter) BEST EVER. YUM!!!

Good grief Sam! Can't imagine paying to hunt for Quail, Pheasants etc. Certainly not $1000. I understand what you are saying about habitat though.

So sorry about the stomach issues Bill.

    Hang in there all.
