Good morning!
I'm doing much better with my broken rib, but yesterday Connie and I went to Walmart for groceries. She lifted the heavy stuff, and she pushed the cart. Still, what little I did caused my rib to hurt and reminded me that even after 5 weeks, it is still broken. It is still somewhat tender this morning and I still have kitty litter and pop in the trunk of my car.
3 degrees here in Kansas this morning. It might get to 32 today, but we are expecting another 1-3 inches of snow tonight. Not good.
I do have some housework to get done today, and I promised Connie that I'd bake a batch of cowboy cookies. I've gained about 5 pounds since I've broken my rib. Sigh.... Since I've retired, I have been doing the bulk of the cooking. I'm enjoying my time in the kitchen. Bill is my idol in that regard.
Have a great day!

Mornin' gents.
Chef Steven
I'm having venison tenderloin medallions in a cumberland sauce tonight.
18º here, but the wind chill brings it down to 2º (sigh)
The wind is killing me. The dogs are not fond of it, either.
Seeing ortho and primary today. Looking to set up knee replacement. Had first one done 7 years ago. Time to do the other one.
Onward and downward ;-)

Mornin’
16° — 6 below with the windchill. So windy the ponds in town are still not frozen.
Heading to EX’s this morning to help her figure out why her water bill has doubled and tripled over the last quarters.
Got keys leveled, capstans adjusted and let-off set for all 88 notes on the piano yesterday. Several more adjustments to go and then a final tuning. This is a real learning experience—Helps to analyze how everything works and understand it to make everything work. Waiting on a delayed order of a few simulated ivory keytops to glue on the gaps of bare wood.
Fell off the wagon foodwise. Today’s another day. Onward and downward.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
It's 44 and cloudy at 5:45 a.m., heading for 45 and sunny this afternoon. Eat your hearts out.
My weight jumped a startling 3 lbs. yesterday. It must have been water retention from the bag of microwave popcorn I ate the day before. Getting more rigid on my snack discipline. I need to drop 10 to 15 lbs. - again.
The piano rebuild is fascinating.
Sorry about the knee, Lee. Good to get it done before you move to the mountains (or right next door to them) though.
I have heard ribs take a long time to heal. Patience, Steve.
You can't have Rita, Bill, she is fully engaged in keeping me organized.
Finishing a maple bowl today and cutting up a big piece of black walnut into blanks for future turning. Choir practice tonight.0 -
Good morning. I just typed a good message and managed to loose it. Here goes second edition.
21 degrees here and going up to 28. Sunshine.
Maple bowl, knee replacement, ribs injury healing, main cook, and piano tuning, hiking, biking, relocating. You guys are busy.
313 on scales today. Not gaining up is okay. As I loose even a few pounds my medical markers, energy, breathing, mobility and flexibility, improve. It is so worth the effort, but not always reflective of my decision making.
Enjoy your day!

Good Morning,
Still cold here this morning, waiting for temps to hit freezing before taking Pablo for walk. Winter mix expected tomorrow.
DW does not have any appointments today, will go to bank and check on DMIL. She called DW last night and said she needed $5.00 to get county bus to bring her here; DW told her she was not coming here and besides we are not here that much. She proceeded to say she still had a key to house and would do what she wanted. DW tried to explain she was trying to stay away from people due to her low immune system. She claims she does not have anything yet we know that several folks there are sick. Guess I need to go by and explain if she insist on upsetting DW she will see or talk to her till all treatments are finished. Hate it but DW does not need attitude, DMIL turns 97 in 9 days, she has been telling me it is her last year for 32 years.
I'm down 6 lbs from 1st of year, still need to lose 6 more lbs to be where I was first of November, would love to lose 28 lbs.0 -
Good Morning
Sam, I am sorry you and Joanne have to deal with her mother's issues on top of everything else. She doesn't need the risk of infection or the additional stress. I hope other family can step in.
Steve, my cooking and baking have been grately constrained these past 2+ years. We packed up the kitchen almost 3 years ago for the kitchen remodel and only pulled out the essentials when we postponed selling the house due to the prostate cancer. But I do look to getting back at it, especially trying to make healthier meals.
Sorry you all are freezing. We will have a rather pleasant 57 and will being going out to explore and hike a bit after the POD is here. The movers come tomorrow to unload. I am listening to President Carter's funeral. I was a big fan. He was ahead of his time in the White House and underappreciated. He was a true exemplar of my faith. Well done, good and faithful servant.1 -
Oooh Lee hang in there w your knee and do what's best for ya!!! Cold indeed.
Steve oh Steve 5 weeks aint nearly long enough for broken rib sadly.
Colder here than in Tumwater/Olympia area where Dave lives. About 34 degrees this a.m. and rode carefully on dry roads and timidly across trail bridges which all had a light covering of frost. My tires are bigger than the skinniest road tires (more like gravel bike tire width) and have lower pressure in them. I rode in the straightest of lines and was ok.
Oh Sam who needs all that drama. Certainly not you and your DW.
Yes Carter was in many ways ahead of his times. Wonderful eulogies.
We should all do such Christian things to help folks in this country and the world.
Stay warm all.
Good luck snowyjr1 in your journey.0
