So I have 4 years and 3 month clean from drugs. . . And for about 3 years now I am (allegedly) a workaholic.
I didn't really eat much when I was using (shocking, I know) So yes, I have gained a LOT of weight since getting clean. It's been years, so I feel like it's finally time to work on my weight.

    Hello everyone!

    💘HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!💘
(I am my own Valentine, I guess!)

Thanks so much for starting this thread, @BrandyAnderson518!🌹

Congratulations to @KatBaxter3141! You're amazing!🏆 I look forward to one day reporting over 4 years SOBER, too!

I stopped drinking alcohol (again) effective February 7th and have had one night's lapse since then (February 12th). It was absolutely horrible and served as a powerful reminder of why I need to STOP this, 100%! I never drank daily - I am more of a "binger". I am "SAFE" - as long as I don't have that first drink. I can do this. I've quit before for over a year and I went from 217 lbs. (in 2008) to just under 140 lbs. (I am now about 154, as of 2/13/2025). Alcohol is absolute ☠️POISON☠️ to my system, especially now that I'm ~66.5 years old, it's even worse. The effects are getting more and more dangerous...

*I have now traded alcohol with trying to develop a healthier lifestyle, using MFP as an aid. I can't afford alcohol anymore, never could really. It's taken such a toll on my life: physically, emotionally, mentally, financially - you name it. I am being very diligent with my food (and overall intake) diary. Pledging to be very honest, I would also need to record any alcoholic beverages consumed. I'm going to be honest with the world and especially with myself.*

At only 5'3" tall, I need to to lose about another 15 lbs. in order to achieve a BMI of below 25.0. I think I can do this by the first day of Summer, June 20th, 2025, but ONLY if I stay away from alcohol and step up my activity level. It's the only way for me.

I use the "Sober Time" app to track my sobriety. I really like it. I didn't reset my count after February 12th; however, it doesn't increase a count until the following day; so I'm keeping where it is as far as start date, because February 7th is "Hug an Addict or Alcoholic Day", which I think makes a great "SOBERVERSARY" day! I'm more interested in milestones. Sober Time has special milestones that are awarded after a specified time has passed. It's a great incentive. Most recently I earned the "1 WEEK" milestone:zxlppw3i4yl3.jpg
I will try to check in daily, not with such a long post as this one, but just a sentence or few!

    Have a great day,
    💗 Carole

    ~Still AF as of 2/07/25.~
    Hi everyone,

As a "binger", I don't really get cravings. I just need to avoid that first drink! When I'm tempted, I'm actually craving comfort and socialization and/or because I need to "escape". We all know that's a TRAP! We just end up feeling worse. I'm feeling stronger now...

Today's "Sober Time" message is: "The marvel of existence calls for celebration every day."

    Have a great day!

    Hello everyone,
    ~Still AF as of 2/07/25~
Boston ended up getting about 5" inches of snow last night, then it turned to sleet and freezing rain and now it looks like mostly rain. There looks like there's now an icy glaze everywhere. I'm glad I don't have to go out today!

An MFP friend, @sunnydays930, recommended "Good Night" sleep gummies by Curio Wellness. The flavor is blueberry. There are 10 chews which she cuts in HALF because they are quite strong. They are 10 mg CBN and 5 mg THC. I might try them, if they're not too expensive, to see if they help with my occasional sleep issues. (I won't exchange one addiction for another though!)

Another MFP member, @200Karen, sent a link on another board that stated the benefits of adding sauerkraut to your diet. I might try that for a while to see whether it helps. I used to regularly buy a brand at Target called, "Crakovia" that also had carrots. I would mix it with "Sambal Oelek" (ground, fresh chili paste, the brand with the rooster on the label) and would sometimes add a drop or two of liquid sucralose. Sometimes I would also add more shredded carrots and/or chopped water chestnuts. This brand has 140g of sodium per 100g/3.5 oz.; so it's not as high as some other brands. They have this brand on Amazon but it's wicked expensive, like $17.99 for about a quart!
https://a.co/d/8ZC9Y9h - That's crazy! (I'm going to see whether they still carry this at the Target near me.)

I haven't gained any weight following my recent gastrointestinal bout. The scale still reads, 153.8. It will be interesting to see what it says on Wednesday (my next challenge weigh-in on two other boards). I haven't been doing much exercise. I haven't felt up to it, but I need to jumpstart that again soon!

It seems that this thread is no longer active. I will stay on until Tuesday. If no one else has posted by then, I week clear this bookmark and wish everyone well.

Have a great day, everyone! I will check back in tomorrow.

Hi again, Blood pressure is also back to normal! (I just had two, large mugs of French Roast coffee too!) Here it is:192cc5vza28g.jpgHow about that?

For comparison, below is my reading from February 6th (the day before I quit drinking - again):7f3343q30hcb.jpg INSANE, right? As in, I'd have to be "insane" to keep DOING this to myself!

I am so relieved that I'm getting better!

    Best wishes,
    💞 Carole

Hello, I've decided to jump off this board since there has been no activity.

For anyone who visits, I wish you all the best!
