Mornin' men. Still at DS's house. Rory and I had an exciting day yesterday. Being so cold and windy out I got the fireplace going and sat on the couch to relax. Then the talking smoke alarm went off. BEEP BEEP BEEP. "Smoke in living room... Evacuate! Evacuate!" I cracked a window open to improve the draft and pressed the alarm silence button. Still seeing smoke, I opened the back door. but now the house was really filling with smoke, all the alarms in the house went off. "Smoke in child's bedroom/kitchen/basement.... Evac..." etc. etc. The silence buttons wouldn't work. The poor dog started bellowing. I poured water on the burning log a few times, opened all the windows upstairs and down, and took the poor dog outside in the yard. After awhile the alarms finally shut off and we went back in. Hope there's no lingering smell by the time they get back from Florida.
Will have lunch with other DS who lives about 20 miles away today, and see his new apartment. He was at the urgent care yesterday to diagnose why he had a racing heart and was lightheaded after swimming yesterday. They think it was low electrolytes and drinking too much water.
Lee, good luck with the new knee!
Winds are supposed to abate today. Ordered a handheld VHF radio for carrying around at the dogsled races. $20, new on eBay.

Good morning!
5:15 here and I feel late to the party. Sheesh! You guys are up early.
Lee, I'm glad the operation went well. I'm hoping that you will be up and about, pain free, very quickly.
Still polar frigid here today and tomorrow. Might start warming on Friday, and then 40s + warmer next week. Our snowblower dates to 2004. I didn't realize it was that old. I think that we are finally finished with it. I want to get a blade for my lawn tractor rather than another snowblower. To get set up, that would be $1000. We are bleeding money these days it seems. I'm going to hold off on that for a couple of months.
We are home bound for the next couple of days, or at least today. All of the streets are snow packed. I know that we can get out if we need to, but why?
I made some oatmeal raisin cookies last night. They are yummy.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Glad all is going well, Lee.
Gee, Mike, sounds like a problem with the flue.
Looks like our cold weather is over for this year - at least so I hope. The forecast is for average temps and rain. Pretty normal for February and March. Crocuses will be blooming soon.

Good Morning
Lee it is good to see you posting and that you have started your journey of healing and recovery. Did they schedule an occupational therapist home visit along with the PT? I found that very helpful, practical day to day living helpful.
I am off to Eugene area this afternoon for some tests to see what ails me. I have been assured it is not very pleasant and there is anesthesia used. I finally got my blood work done. Glucose has increased more than a bit. Motivation to be more focused, and to find a primary care Doc.0 -
Hang in there Lee. Glad you are doing OK and going home. My son is doing so much better with his artificial hip these days.
Oh gosh Bill I hope the tests aren't too bad. Good to have blood work done and thankful mine was better than we expected.
Yup I soaked peas overnight in tepid water and put into a jar with a damp paper towel to keep the environment moist and will plant in another day or two when they sprout to about an inch of primary root.
I am with Dave as it sound like a flue issue or poor chimney design. We rented a place one time that was terrible that way and had two units hooked to the same flue and only worked when the right one had a roaring fire first to help suck the second one. Totally bad.
Sending Ts and Ps to all with their tests and surgery recoveries etc.0 -
Good Afternoon,
Orthopedic this morning, ordering MRI and CT for shoulder; agrees it needs replacing but MRI and CT should show whether straight shoulder replacement or reverse shoulder replacement.
Joanne is doing much better provided she is using oxygen, being on more steroids has her glucose going wild.
Glad you are going home today, Lee hoping for quick and pain free recovery,
Hope they used enough anesthesia I remember back in 2003 they did not use anesthesia for biopsy.
Happy Humping
