    Good morning, I feel like a person again, I don't know why or how, but that was a tough 9 days. Last monday I woke up with terrible chest/sternum pain, went to the dr on tuesday morning, they did a ct scan right then, showed some inflammation in my lung (general area where it hurt) but I was also having some stomach issues, I was so bloated, and just ugh, and I felt like someone was sitting on my chest. No cough, no fever, no sneezing, no nothing, just chest pain, bloating and lots of belching. This happens almost every feb/ march, although sometimes it's more sinus. So we are on a mission to find out where the root is, is it my stomach, my lungs, or my sinuses. Apparently postnasal drip could cause all this, but it typically has other symptoms, Dr said maybe your weird your cough reflex doesn't work like most, and that's why it gets into your stomach and/or lungs so easily. (Yes, he actually said that, and I'm okay with that, because he wants to find the root cause, which dr NEVER do, they typically just hand you a prescription, so I am ecstatic) So on Friday I see a pulmonologist, then a gastro, if all of those come back not the cause, then I see an allergist, and ent. They have ruled out it being a cardiac issue the did all that testing before the CT scan.

    Anyway, I am doing well with the food, although the scale isn't showing that very much yet.

    I made candy on Sunday, well it's not really candy, but it looks like it, and it tastes like it. BUT it's good for you, and healthy. I used tart cherry juice, lime juice, grass feed beef gelatin, and wildflower honey, and made these gummy candies, they are very sour/tart, but it's okay, I like it, and the honey gave them the perfect amount of sweetness. So they are perfect for my after dinner sweet treat. Tart Cherry is supposed to help with sleep too.

    Have a great day !

    @gidgitgoescrzy sorry you are dealing with all that!! But totally agree, it's great to have found a doctor who actually wants to figure it out! And wow that "candy" sounds so good, could you share the recipe? I've never worked with gelatin but I loveeee anything tart.

    @maddawgmadsen I forgot to answer your other question - I did not see Vance on the slopes thankfully, but some of the protest signs I saw online were cracking me up. Vermont doesn't mess around.

    Okay so It's very easy

    3/4 Cup tart cherry juice

    1/4 cup lime juice

    2 tablespoon Honey

    3 tablespoons of gelatin (I used grass feed beef gelatin)

    So you have to let your gelatin bloom, it takes about 5 minutes. You want to do this before you heat it up. Mix it with the lime juice, and let it sit.

    I did not let my gelatin bloom when I made mine, I learned this after the fact. It's supposed to help the gelatin mix easier. So hopefully you don't get clumps like I did.

    Heat the Cherry juice on the stovetop, get it hot, really hot, but not to a boil, add honey stir till mixed, add gelatin/lime and stir, stir stir, till everything is mixed and dissolved, pour into molds , place in fridge, they take about an hour to set up.

    If you have some gelatin clump, just work around them, I used gummy bear molds, so it I used a dropper, but if you just put it in a pan just pull the clumps out.

    @Gidgitgoescrzy that sounds so frustrating, I'm so glad you have a doctor who is actually working on a solution/cause!

    @lauren_989 nice loss this week

    @Gidgitgoescrzy so glad to hear you are feeling better. What a strange set of symptoms you have. Hope you can find the root of it all and the candy sounds Devine I have some little gummy bear molds - good incentive to take them out and try this recipe.

    Happy it's Wednesday. It's a strange week because I work later in the evening rather than during the day. I am able to get more done around the house but I'm paying the price with being tired. Going to focus on sleep tonight. Loved seeing all your photos of the trips last month - Need to make some plans on my end to have something to look forward to.

    I finally got back to a morning walk this morning, the puppy has been sick the last 2 days, poor little fella. A couple of vet visits and he seems to be back on the mend.

    Wow, long, busy day today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

    We had some crazy wind and rain today. A piece of siding blew off our chimney and a tree fell in the backyard. Hubby said it was loud and the house shook, luckily it wasn't on the house! We have someone coming Saturday to fix the siding.

    I am totally craving chocolate today. Did not eat any and don't have it in the house. Hopefully the craving will pass tomorrow.

    I am going to get it together this month and quit making excuses. I turned down ice cream last night, and went and did the dishes instead.

    Tonight I am going to a sound healing hippy dippy thing, a co-worker invited me to. I figured I need to get out of the house and interact with people, so why not do something where I know it will be peaceful, and people will not want to discuss world events. I've become such a home body.

    I am off work tomorrow for my pulmonary testing then I am picking up my daughter and we are going to look for my new countertops. I am still not sure what to get, I am a messy cook, and when I make things like gummy's, I will spill the juice and might not clean it up until I am done, or might not even notice it. I do always clean the counters when I am done, but sometimes my cooking sessions can take hours. So I am terrified of spending alot of money on something that I am going to stain in a week.

    Have a great day !

    Sorry I was missing last week for weigh in day. Woke up last Thursday to a text with an obituary for one of my past students. We knew he had a shortened life expectancy but so hard. Life was busy and I am just getting back to normal.

    The plan is to log regularly which I have not been doing!

    @conleywoods

    So sorry for such a tragic loss… that sounds like a really sad situation.

    I like your plan to log regularly - Brad and I have been talking about it for us too, but we just can't seem to get into the habit. I don't know that I'll ever make real progress again without that as it was the key to my success last time.

    @Gidgitgoescrzy the hippy dippy thing sounds like a fun way to relax! There's a few things like that in my area, and while I may not believe that they're everything they claim, they do seem like a zen, relaxing experience and as you say, it's nice to get away from the troubles of the world.

    @conleywoods I'm so sorry, that's heartbreaking.

    @lauren_989 sounds like Spring is starting to make itself known! I have been craving chocolate too, and I gave in yesterday. It didn't even taste that good! I'm going to avoid it today, save for my pre-planned ice cream treat after dinner.

    It's going to be a hot weekend here, so we are making the most of the pool before Autumn starts kicking in!

    @ashleycarole86 I am still learning this new format, too. I just tried to quote someone and it said permission problem 🙄

    I also can't seem to copy or quote anything with pictures, so my weigh-in reminders will most likely change.

    I still haven't tried anything on the computer yet...this is all from my phone app.

    @conleywoods I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your prior student! Life is too short sometimes!

    @Alatariel75 enjoy the pool! Swimming is great exercise!

    @conleywoods so sorry to hear about your loss. </3

    Yeah this new text editor definitely has some bugs - none of my tags @ people were working the last 2 days!

    But thanks Vicki for the recipe! Gonna try that in March.

    I had a good day of getting chores done and movement in. Just finished a 19 min core strength workout with my girlfriends over zoom. And I already got my PT moves in at lunchtime. I leave late tomorrow night for a wedding on Saturday. Hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow morning.

    @lauren_989 - may I please be excused from next week's weigh-in? I will be out of town.

    @Kali225 - you are going to love the hot springs! We have some pretty nice ones an hour away from us and some even nicer ones about two hours away. Needless to say, my husband and I visit as often as we can.

    @conleywoods - I am so sorry to hear about your loss! That is hard.

    I am on my way to Oregon to visit family for the next week. It will be nice, but also very stressful because you know, family. I will check in as I can for the next week.

    Good morning Waistaways!

    CW 249lbs 😢

    So many things have happened in the last few weeks - that I don't want to bore you with it.

    One thing that has happened is my next door neighbour passed away. She was lovely lady battling cancer for the last 5 years. She went to hospital a week ago with pneumonia. She was about 70 years old and married to her husband John for 44 years. We've hardly seen her about, she was mostly staying inside the house. Her husband, John is really nice, helpful man. He is in his early 70's but still going strong. He looks 50 years old 😊 He told me this morning that he lost her last night, so so sad 😢

    Just made me think about my life and how lucky I am to still have a husband, family and that I am healthy ish and alive.

    I say healthy ish because it looks like I am doing a lot to make my body ill 😢 I eat unhealthy foods, I don't exercise to make my body and heart stronger and I drink far too much poison that is alcohol 🫣The alcohol started to actually get out of control. Up until last Friday I would drink a bottle of red wine an evening at least every other night. Last Friday I drunk the bottle of red wine and it scared me, because it didn't even make me drunk 😢

    So last Friday was the last day of alcohol use, I know it is only few days without it but I am so pleased with myself 😊 I am going to try and last until Good Friday for Easter and see how it goes 🥰

    So sorry for being doom and gloom today 😢

    I am hoping that I will start having more good days than bad ones. Work is not too bad, busy weekend but nothing I cannot manage.

    Steps:

    Sunday 2nd March 12,355 steps

    Monday 3rd March 22,329 steps

    Tuesday 4th March 12,085

    Wednesday 5th March 16,631 steps

    Thursday 17,059 steps

    Have a lovely weekend Waistaways :-)

    Sorry to hear about the loss of your neighbor. That's going to be a big adjustment for the husband after they were together so long. Really proud of you for the dry days... keep up the good work.

    Happy Friday to everyone. Safe travels to @maddawgmadsen and @kali225 (hopefully I didn't miss anyone!)

    We have a busy weekend ahead ... some things with friends and a few chores and errands.

    @ashleycarole86 & @lauren989 Thanks for the welcome!!

    I'm Sara and I'm a recent greek yogurt enthusiast. I love video games that make you dance and my mini-goals that'll assist my weight loss for the month are:

    Check in at the gym more than 5 times.
    Find some meal prep solution so I don't feel like I'm trapped in the kitchen.

    @strong_fit_ells sorry to hear about your neighbor. And great job staying away from alcohol. I know it's hard!

    Big night last night. We met friends at a restaurant for supper, went to a comedy show, and ended up at a karaoke bar. As a girl who normally goes to bed at 10, I was yawning away. I ended up in the DD role so at least I'm not hung over today.

    I have the dentist at noon and then our friend's daughter turned 6 this week so it's her party this afternoon.

    I think my job is a barrier to getting healthy. When I lost the weight it was COVID and I was working from home. I was in my same department but in a simpler job. I feel like I don't know how to get healthy in this job. The root cause (using food and alcohol to cope) should be what I look to address, but therapy was unsuccessful. I'm at a loss as to what I need to do mentally to overcome my challenges.
