April 2025 Walks and Workouts

Took myself out for another 1-mile walk this morning. This time, not as aggressive, mainly because I stopped for a couple of photo ops. 😉
Township Dump Day is Saturday. The kid and I are starting to gather items into piles to load up Saturday morning. I uncovered our porch chairs and need to use the leaf blower to clean them up. Then, leaf blow the porch. In June, I want to pull out the temporary carpet and paint it with epoxy, similar to what you see people do with garage floors. I'll try to do 1 "big" project each month for Spring and Summer. This month was the dining room. May is the garage floor, June is the porch floor.@megd44 Teaching kitchen sounds like my kind of kitchen. 😀
@Elfirose33 I'm also in clean-up/out mode. Today, switching my wardrobe over from Fall/Winter to Spring/Summer. This is 1 or 2 times a year when I determine if something is kept or donated.
@zichab Maybe you'll be able to turn your hassle into a hustle. 😉

1.25 Miles at the Park this morning.
Yesterday, it got warm enough that we turned the A/C on to bring the house temperature down for sleeping. I probably wouldn't have managed without it, but it's more comfortable for Ry. It will be similar today, but a few degrees cooler.I hope everyone has a great weekend!

@Deeder522 I think spring has definitely arrived in Michigan. And some parts moving directly to summer!! The teaching kitchen is so great. Amazing what people do and don't know, even medical professionals....
Took a rest day yesterday but dud hit my 11k step mark. Today I did 2 miracle miles and then went to Costco. So got some strength training lifting dog food bags into the cart, then the car, then home. Hoping to get the the beach for sunset tonight.

Well, I am tired of killing ants, so I went to the hardware store and and the nice young man said, "We have had both a lot more spiders and ants this year, so here is the best ant trap we have found that works" and I bought 6 of them them!!!! The spiders seem to be getting the message that a spider killer lives in this house, but ants are not that bright apparently!!!! I have only seen 2 since the traps were installed!!! 🚫🐜🚫
You are all doing so good cleaning outdoors! I can't really do anything until May here as the melting snow and mountain run off makes things so wet. They call spring "mud season" up here and it is not an exaggeration! I am going to put up the humming bird feeders next week and declutter my spring decor, but I can't really do my porches until the second week in June after the hemlocks are done putting their yellow pollen all over EVERYTHING!!!! 🙄 That stuff is awful to clean up and I only want to do it once! Our crocus are flowering, but so far, no daffodils and tulips.
I am baking bread today and my bread machine says it is ready to put the dough in my pan for it's next rise, but I'll be back tomorrow with my weekly 5 mile walk!!!!

Yesterday
was Township Clean Up Day. I was up and loading my car with my e-cycling by 8 AM. Oh boy! The faces on the guys when they opened my car and saw all the Apple products! 🤣
0 -
um..Ok. MFP is being weird this AM.
Anyway, where I left off: After I emptied my car, I went back to the house, and the kid hooked up the trailer to his 4Runner. We filled the trailer with more stuff. By 11 AM, we were done and had more space in the garage again. 😃All the lifting did a bit of a number on my wrist, so I tried to take it easy for the rest of the day, but it felt SO GOOD to get rid of things. Next, it's finding a good day to shred or burn old documents.
Today, I get to assemble new chairs for the back porch. I was able to find a good deal on a set to match what we currently have. The current set I washed a few days ago. The porch is nearly ready for the season. AlthoughI do have to replace some of the screens.

I did all 5 boosts!!!! Having said that, I did not do the knee lifts or leg lifts at a jog because I am not that graceful and will fall over. 🤣 However, I did jog through the whole 2 minutes at the end of each mile for a total of 10 minutes, which is exhausting! 😅
Believe it or not, we had SNOW this morning!!! 😳 Dennis and I looked out and both of us said, "Is that snow?" and sure enough, the truck was turning white! It's 56F now so it is gone, but snow is not what we expected this late in April.
@Deeder522 The product we are using is Terro Liquid Ant Baits. The way it works is that you put the bait(s) wherever you have seen the ants and then you have a bazillion of them show up. They even wait in line to get to the bait! I was freaking out because there were so many more of them than I had seen before. But when we got up today, there were none crawling around and there have been only 4-5 at the bait all day. They say it takes 2 weeks to be rid of them, but we did not see any outside of the bait all day!!! So for us, 2 days and they are about gone. It is effective stuff!!!
I cannot imagine the electronics guys face when you recycled all those Apple products! 🤣 They must think you are are the wealthiest people in MI if you can afford to toss all those "expensive" products.
MFP has been a bit weird this month. I had a whole post disappear and I have no idea where it went. The only reason I know it disappeared is because I had just copied my daily list to paste and add my workout and all the workouts were there, but the reply content was not there. I have no idea why anyone would pay for this site/app as it is constantly glitchy!
Tomorrow is my rest day for next week so I'll be back on Tuesday! Happy Spring! 🌷❄️🌹

Agree that MFP is being weird. I have had post disappear and half the time cannot tag people.
So yesterday I did a 2 mile walk with a doctor. Then did a bunch of cleaning in the basement room where we had ducklings and baby chicks. They have now moved to the garage and hopefully will be outside in there permanent home by mid month. Weather is still too unpredictable and we still have a bit of building to finish. Then we hosted an impromptu neighborhood BBQ, so fin!!
Today I did Burn to the Beat. Still love that one. Holding off on anymore of the C25k until after vacation, since I think it may be impacting my back. And since vaca will involve lots of mountain hiking, want to be ok for that. We leave Wednesday so I shouldn't lose too much time.
@Deeder522 doesn't it feel great to clean stuff out? And yay for porch season.
@zichab great job on the 5 miles and the boost!@

April Goals
Mies Tracked 69 / 69 ⭐️Goal!
Apple Challenge: Reach my stand goal 25x this month. I'll miss this by 2 days. 🤷🏼♀️I'm feeling all the lifting, sorting, and putting things together today. I didn't sleep well last night, to boot. 😖
Yesterday, Ry did do a little walk with me. 1 lap around the field. ½ a mile in about 20 minutes. Not being able to walk consistently last fall and over the winter is showing.
This morningwas my yearly physical. I get all the referrals I want plus

Plus, they are going to check my iron levels and waive colonoscopy for the moment, allowing me to do the colo-guard this 1st time.
MFP 🤦🏼♀️ Can't tag people, post disappears. When I 1st get to the site, it doesn't even load properly.0 -

First, I finally did 4 Fast Miles with all the boosts!!! I might be ready to mountain climb in July with my children and grandchildren!!!!
I have completed all of my goals for this month and I cannot believe it. I have 181.3 miles as of yesterday, met my workout weekly goals, met my Garmin Goals and completed 4 Expeditions! Get yourself some Iron @Deeder522 ! It'll have you walking like crazy in no time! 🤣 BTW, there are no ants anywhere today, They are all gone!!!! That stuff worked miracles! I gave the rest of the box to my neighbor. I'll report back about her experience also.
Thanks @megd44 I am so happy that I can do these long walks again. Considering I could not lift a bag of groceries into my truck in December, it is truly amazing to me.
@Elfirose33 Are you still cleaning that spare room? LOL Come up here when you are done and declutter my attic OK? 😂
I have decided to change things for next month. I tried the plank and I am not ready for that yet as my calves and feet cramped up 5 seconds in. 😫 So, I am going to start doing the walks with the bands/weights and twice a week, I am going to do Leslie's Firm 30 workout. I am hoping that squats and lunges with weights will get more circulation into my legs and stop the cramping. I have been totally focused on getting my heart healthy again after denying it oxygen rich blood for so long that I have kind of neglected any strength work and it is showing in my legs and back. I am going to try a plank challenge again in June.
Lord the weather is absolutely deranged!!! It is 76F here today with severe thunderstorm and TORNADO warnings!!!! 😳 I live in the mountains and though I left tornado warnings when I moved away from Flint! 😥 As if that is not crazy enough, tonight, we are being told to cover any plants as it is going to be 30F!!!! How does it go from 76F-30F in a matter of hours?????? It's nuts!
Not sure what workout I am doing tomorrow for the last day of April, but I'll see you tomorrow-if MFP is not glitching! 😎🤗

Sorry that I've been MIA. It's been two busy weekends in a row for me (not my preference) and dinners out each day of the past two weekends (not my style). And I haven't felt well so when I wasn't having to go to an event, I've been recovering at home. Exercise has mostly gone out the window this last part of April except for my Tai Chi (so grateful for that!) some mowing (mowing really helps me and never fails to turn a bad day into a better one!) and a nice walk here and there with Dottie. Yesterday I started feeling better—and it was just in time to catch up on all the mowing before the big downpour came later on that evening. I was in such a time crunch to get the mowing done, squeezing it in between my workday and the next rainfall, but I did it! And I also walked Dottie for 25 minutes too. Today was another recovery day, but I did go to the thrift store and got a couple of hours of leisurely walking done there. I'm behind now on all your reports, but I'll try to catch up with all of you soon!

@Deeder522 great job with keeping going. Cleaning and setting up rooms takes a lot!! And MFP is sometimes working, sometimes not.
@zichab you are doing great!! Strength training is important so glad you are going to work on that. Weather here was nuts yesterday. We dropped 30 degrees too. Ugh!!
@Elfirose33 I hope you are starting to feel better!!You'll get back to it when you do.
So yesterday did a couple of the WAH Mix and Match blends. Today I did Burn to the Beat.
I hit all the April Challenges from Garmin : Step into April, April time to Walk, April Step month, Active April and April weekend walking. Also did 3 expeditions, Everest base camp, Kilimanjaro and Cradle Mountain. Started Patagonia. Will know toral step count at the end of the day, I was aiming for 330,000 to 366,000.
I didn't get all tge C25K done because of my back. Will work on that again next month.
So, going on vacation today for a week. I will figure out my Nay goals while I am traveling. Think I have a pretty solid idea. Not sure if I'll be back before I get home. Hope everyone has a great week!

We all deserve a "free day" for the last day of April. 😀
I haven't had my watch on yesterday or today, so my final mileage total will be skewed b/c of that.
Gosh, Tomorrow is May! Why does time speed up as we age??Talk to you all in the next month! 🥰

I decided to end the month with @megd44 's favorite workout! It has been a while since I did the whole thing, but this was the DVD that helped me get back into working out and also, when I was trying to work out, before I found out about the iron, the Easy Beat was my lifeline. It was a nice walk for today!!!
@Elfirose33 I am so sorry you have been sick and some of it might be all those dinners out. I used to have to go to conferences and I dreaded them because I also got sick. If it was not the food, it was all the people sitting so close together that you could not help catching something. If mowing makes you feel better, then that is exercise! Count it! 👍️
See you all in May for my first attempt at Firm 30! 🙃

Yesterday I did 75 minutes Tai Chi and 70 minutes of mowing. I went to bed early last night (gosh, I love it when I do that!). Today is a rest day. Will try to catch up with you all soon. Happy May Day!

@Deeder522 I like your goal of doing one big project per month! I need to switch up my wardrobe for the warmer seasons too, haven't been able to get to that, good reminder. Wow, good job clearing out things, you are making it happen! That must feel wonderful:) Sorry to hear about your wrist, hope you feel better soon 💚
@zichab Great job this month! Wow, 4 fast miles with boosts is fantastic, way to go! Congratulations reaching all of your goals this month! You are so wise to visit the plank beforehand; sounds like some good goals moving forward. Your weather there sounds like Missouri, lol! Missouri is always full of off the wall weather surprises! Thank you, dinners out always mess me up, and there were too many in a row and none of them avoidable. Wow, great job on your total miles! It's great to be ready for May! 😊
@megd44 Great job walking and cleaning! Your little ducklings and chicks sound sooo cute, and how fun to have them! I hope your back is feeling better, and I hope you're having the best vacation ever! 😊
