May 1st: Morning Check-In’s

Good Morning 🌞
How’d everyone do yesterday?
My goal for this week was to get in my daily 10,000+ steps in. Being my mom’s new full-time caregiver has made it a bit of a challenge to just get in a basic walk in.
Yesterday I was able to get in 10,869 steps in or 4.48 miles. I’m very happy with this.

@carolparker72 , nice job hitting your goal when you have so much on your plate. I cannot imagine how much time it takes being a full-time caregiver. I feel very fortunate that both my parents, in their late 80s, are doing well and still on their own. My hat is off to you and anyone who is taking care of an elderly parent.
My goal this week is to hit 175,000 steps (avg. 25,000 a day). Monday: 25,251, Tuesday: 26,996, and Wednesday: 31,873. It is easier for someone like me to get in steps because I am not responsible for anyone but myself (and 8 cats) so my time is my own. I'm also urban. I live mid-peninsula in St. Petersburg, FL and everything is within walking distance for me. I am 4.5 miles from downtown on the bay, and 4.5 miles from the Gulf beaches. Why drive if I can walk there is how I look at things.

yesterday i did 23,404, but I don't expect to do that every day. I try to get in 20K. And I'm pretty happy with that.

If you have a large room, or even a bunch of connected rooms you can walk in a circle around, just do that. I have a room that one circle is 50 steps. 5 is 250 steps. 4 of those is a 1000 steps. It's easy to get 1000 steps in. Put a cup of tea in the microwave for 2 minutes, that's 250 or so steps. And so on. When our mountain was a sheet of 1/4 thick ice, hard like a bowling ball, it was a way for me to get my steps in. And while some might say, oh how boring, it isn't really any different than a stationary bike. You can listen to tv or podcasts or music or ebooks, or just think.
