Roll Call ~ TGIF 5/9/25

Mornin' gents.
The new pope is American. Didn't see that coming.
Spaghetti squash in the oven for dinner tonight. Gonna thaw some frozen turkey meatballs and sauce them with the low sodium low fat mushroom soup and put over the faux spaghetti.
Finally getting back to my pre-surgery sleep cycle. No melatonin or marijuana gummies (I tried once). Just 100 mg of gabapentin and the tylenol ER, funny I am saying "just" but this is what I was doing before surgery get a decent sleep.
Still shaking my head about DMV.
Hoping that knee is better today, Steve.
Prayers for Joanne.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning!
Last week, Connie told me that we would not be doing anything special to the house for her sister's visit. I am flat out exhausted from all of the the not cleaning cleaning that we did, including detailing my car since we will be picking her up at her air B&B. We are supposed to pick her up this morning and bring her to our house, but I don't have a time yet. I don't think that Connie does either. That is very typical of her sister.
My knee hurt yesterday, but not nearly as bad. I think I may have just over done it, or injured it. I'm hoping that today will be even better. I have not tested it on stairs yet.
I got my first med refills at Walgreen's since I went on Medicare this month. I have a Part D for prescriptions. I paid $0 for 90 days worth of meds! Wow! I can't believe it. The Part D was also $0. As a retired accountant, I don't understand. It makes me very happy.
I may or may not be picking up Connie's sister this morning or today, but we'll just have to flow with it.
I am not Roman Catholic, but I am very happy for the church and for Christianity in general. I think that the church made a good choice and will have a strong Pope.
Have a great day!

Yesterday's sun and warmth blew away with another T-storm and downpour, and now this morning we're back to chilly and foggy. "So foggy you can't see your hand in front of your face … without opening your eyes", as my father used to tell me when I was a boy.
Never imagined an American pope—people were saying perhaps some day an African one. And from Chicago?…
Have a sore throat last few days; did a COVID test last night, negative, may call the doc to see if a strep throat test is in order.
Have a good day.

Good morning gentlemen.
Woke up with an aching back, this morning. Had trouble putting on my socks. Getting old isn't for the faint of heart.
Good deal on the meds, Steve. Free is always good.
Hope you feel better, Mike.
I got nothing to ease your angst over DMV, Lee. I'd be ticked, too.
Yesterday, after shopping for groceries, I turned a cracked chunk of maple into a nice 9-inch bowl, then carved a pattern on the outside to add some interest. The wood was a piece that had been sitting in the shop for two years, so it was nice and dry. Nice to work straight through from start to finish.
Don't know how I'll spend my day, today.

I was surprised about the new pope too although I felt there could be a new pope with South American connections and a more inclusive view. Now my sister's family in "Chi-town" can talk of having both a US President and a Pope. Hmmm maybe I could meet him??
Gosh Mike I am sooooo sorry about your piano teacher breaking their leg. Gosh piano music IS dangerous!!
My heart and prayers are with your dear friend in Bible Study group and their family.
Oh gosh Dave I need to loosen my back every day. I am back to being able to put socks on . somewhere I do have a sock assist device I got when I had back surgery but don't know where it is.
Sorry about the DMV Lee. We have "walk-in" "available" but one might not get in all day without an appointment. We decided to go ahead and get the "Real ID" although our Oregon driver's licenses have all the same holographic features etc but without the small star in the upper right. We made an appt about a month ahead for May19th to get in for a "Real ID" at a DMV place close to us.
Hope all medical test surgeries and procedures go well.
cheers

Bob, I heard the new pope lived in South America quite a long time, missionary in Peru I think…

Good Morning
Praying for Joanne (& Sam) this morning.
One of the best things about living here is our tiny storefront DMV. No appts needed, rarely empty but never crowded unless someone is taking a drivers test. I woke at 4:30 again and couldn’t get back to sleep. My gut is beginning to act up again. Fun day ahead it seems. No plans beyond house stuff.
