I was reading that Larson won the NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway yesterday. I thought of my friend Steve who lives just south of there, thinking it must have been a noisy day.
Yesterday was fairly productive for me. I got a fair amount of things done around the house, including a nap and some play time with the dogs.
I have finally convinced my lawn guy to mow the lawn high after 6 years. No need to practice no mow May when you mow high, the clover and dandelion flowers survive the high mowing. Plus, no huge piles of badly mulched grass. The dogs love sinking into the higher grass.
I discovered yesterday that the propeller I bought for my Suzuki outboard actually fits. I thought I had mis-ordered the part somehow, because I couldn't get it to fit onto the prop shaft right. Turns out I was not putting the parts together correctly. Although I was smacking my forehead, I was actually pretty happy that I didn't waste the substantial money I had spent on the part. I couldn't return it because I didn't try putting it together before the date it became unreturnable.
Grilled cedar plank salmon stuffed with spinach and cream cheese last night. Very, very, good.
Onward and downward ;-)

Mornin'
Up coughing all night — and that's hard to do with a CPAP mask on. Still have sore throat, runny nose, cough, and I think I had low fever last night, 99.4º. And I feel just plain miserable. Will call my doctor's office after they open up. They have nurse assistants who can sometimes see people on short notice, if that's called for. I tested negative for COVID but will do a follow up today. Should've gotten the flu test kit to test for that. Chicken soup, tea with honey; Meanwhile using a Neti-Pot and will dig out the steam vaporizer. Uggggh.
I have a cardiology checkup tomorrow… I might cancel if they have another opening soon.
Hope Sam and DW are doing okay.
I found the sheet music for Georgia on My Mind, going to practice that for one of the upcoming piano classes.

Good morning!
I'm so glad to hear that Joanne is home. Prayers continue.
I want to mow today, but yesterday, I broke the drive belt on my riding mower. I went to Lowe's and have a new belt. I'm hoping/thinking it will be an easy install. I also bought some tomato plants while I was at Lowe's. They will need to go into the dirt today.
We hear cars on the track all the time. It is now after 20+ years that we don't even notice them, unless we listen just for that sound. We can hear trucks on I-70 too, so like trains, and planes, we just don't think about it much.
Lee, I like to hear about the dishes you prepare. I imagine you to be very good in the kitchen.
Have a great day!

Good morning gentlemen.
Planned to go for a hike today but woke up to rain. Now they forecast thunderstorms for this afternoon. I think I'll hold off on the hike. I have another project on my lathe, anyway. Making a small vase from maple. I will do some carving on the outside to add texture.
I ordered some seat covers for my Tacoma. Whoever thought to put cloth upholstery in a pickup was crazy. My idea of a perfect pickup seat would be an unbroken bench seat with vinyl upholstery. Bring back the '60s. Anyway, the faux leather will be easier to clean and won't be quite as bad at attracting dog hair. They should arrive this week.
There is a potluck soup dinner at church tomorrow. I need to decide what to make to bring. Maybe a pot of black bean chili.

Good Morning
Continuing in prayers for Sam and Joanne as their healing continues.
Soggy weather here as well so we will likely just remain inside. Yesterday's Mother's Day Tea was quite good. A little crowded and noisy but very enjoyable. An hour and a half of eating slowly catches up with you at the end though. More work on the house and some exercise. I have some reading to do as well. Easy going day ahead.
