Roll Call - Thursday, May 22, 2025

Good morning!
Eee Gads! I clocked in at 177.2 pounds this morning. I am having challenges getting on track again. I am 20 pounds over where I want to be now.
I am taking Frankie in to Banfield this morning for her annual exam. I drop her off and then pick her up sometime this afternoon.
Today is mowing day. The yard was still too soggy yesterday.
I have been out for short neighborhood rides on my bike each of the last two days. I have also been walking a little bit on the treadmill, and lifting light weights. I don't want to over do it, so starting light and adding more to it weekly, or as seem right. At least for now, my knees are behaving, and the arthritis while still there, is not as bad as it has been. More unsettled weather moving in tonight and lasting through the weekend. Aches and pains alerts are out.
Have a great day!

Good morning gentlemen.
Got the trust divided, yesterday, then closed the trust's bank account. Now I have to park a large cashier check somewhere and talk to an advisor on how to manage my share of the estate. It feels like work. Since I don't need it, I think I'll look for a strategy aiming at helping my son, down the road. We'll see.
So, along with more banking, today, I also need to pick up prescriptions and mow the lawn.
Haven't weighed myself in more than a week and haven't tracked in three days, either. Doesn't bode well.

Mornin' gents.
Logged on this morning and my typed salutation for yesterday's roll call was staring me in the face still waiting for me to hit "post reply".
So Happy Belated Birthday Steve. Being the cook in the house probably makes it a bit tougher to keep weight under control.
So sorry to hear that you have a relationship with a walking cane every so often, Bill. Those days must be frustrating.
I'm doing pretty good. I walked over 12 miles this weekend running dogs, per my fitbit. A little soreness and swelling, but not bad at all.
Dave, you were rocking with that chain saw. Cutting wood is extremely satisfying work. DW made me give up my chain saw because she was convinced I would suffer a hand injury and not be able to perform my surgical duties. I miss it, but she was/is right, the risk was too great.
Dentist this morning.
Onward and downward ;-)

‘mornin gents.
Rainy morning and only 40°, I may still try to get out for a walk but need to dress carefully. DGD’s graduation is tomorrow morning in downtown Worcester civic center, fun parking adventure and getting to hear long boring speeches till it’s over. We’ll get together at DD’s house tomorrow evening for a party which will be nice.
Had a small chainsaw once, yard sale purchase, when we had a woodstove. Had to disassemble a few times to get it to work, and eventually it went kaput altogether. Still have all my fingers at least.
Hope Bill’s leg will fix itself. Walks on the beach are magical potion for the soul.
Have a great day everyone.0 -
Good Morning
We were up and out the door by 7:00 this morning. Heather checked in at the walk in clinic to get her prescriptions renewed since we don't have a local Dr due to the shortage in the area. She was sent for bloodwork since it has been a while. Thankfully it is all at the Hospital. Picked up a quick breakfast and headed to Safeway to pickup my prescription. Always a line since the Rite Aid closed last year. We got home around 9:40. I went to the clinic yesterday morning for my hip, but didn't get in till 5:20pm. After you check in you go home and they call you when to come back. Ended up getting some Toradol in the butt, a prescription for Prednisone and xrays of my Pelvis and Lumbar spine. I learned the trick was to check in at 7:00 when they open. Toradol, an old friend from my worse back days, worked great but its effects have now worn off and my hip is burning a bit and I am on the cane again. So another day of rest. I should have xray results back today. I was going to bake some hoagie rolls but deferred to store bought to limit by time on my feet. Meatball sandwiches tonight. Watering may have to wait as well. Cloudy cool day today, good for a walk, but I will stay off my feet. Maybe a drive later.
I love living here, things are slower, smaller and not always convenient, but people are warm and friendly. Last night I went out the exit from imaging to far side of the complex as much as I could tell. An employee getting off work so me walking slowly and picked me and drove me to my car. Mostly we talked about how stinkin' beautiful it is out there.

Steve: glad your aches and pains are a bit better. Always something. Wow Lee 12 miles is great running your dogs.
Bill: Ya I imagine getting a primary care Doc is almost neigh impossible in many towns these days. so sorry about needing your cane again. gosh hope your pelvis and lumbar spine get relief and soon!!I am trying to get hooked up with a dermatologist that is closer by. My former derm guy moved away and also that clinic branch closed for dermatology.
We saw the movie "Conclave" at my wife's bestie's house. Timely and an interesting take on things.Speaking of wood, chainsaws and the like in graduate school I lived in the forest in a log cabin which had wood heat and a wood stove in the kitchen. I use to get free wood from a lumbar mill.
They cut off the ends of the big felled logs which were uneven with the felling cuts. These large circular pieces were perfect thickness for firewood and wood stove. They were actually floated onto a large pond and were called "pond lilies". We would pull one onto rollers with a large gaff and slide it out. Then we would split these rounds into sections using a splitting maul and additionally wedges as needed. Price was right. I was in great shape in those days for sure.Saw more geese and goslings in the local wetlands with my DW on a walk this morning. Beautiful.
