Good morning!
Although I have never served in the military, I have a profound since of respect and honor for those who have. For all of the military, and first responders who have sacrificed all, I give my deepest, heartfelt respect and thanks.
Today is going to be a rainy day in Kansas. My plan is to do a few inside projects, starting with repairing a door frame.
Have a great day!

Mornin', and a happy Memorial Day. My folks are all buried in So. Connecticut, too far to visit their graves much anymore. Growing up there was always a parade starting from the center of town, speeches in the cemetery, and firing of guns to salute to the military men who were buried there. Ended with Taps, echoing over the hills from an unseen bugler somewhere. Goosebumps…
Still some lingering flu/whatever symptoms, but got out for a nice 2 mile hike with DD yesterday, and went afterward to a piano concert with cello and violin. Maybe first time she ever heard classical music; said she liked it.
Time for me coffee…

Remembering those who gave their all for our freedom today gents.
I appreciate the parades and speeches, but I no longer attend them. I feel a bit guilty about that.
Today I am performing another euthanasia, maybe two. Glad I have my girls to hug afterwards. Maybe do a little flyfishing if my whole day isn't eaten up.
Onward and downward.

Good morning gentlemen.
Yesterday I kind of told off a friend for wishing a happy Memorial Day. He replied that it has become a weekend for family and friendship and he felt joy was appropriate. On reflection, I kind of think he is right. Honoring and remembering the fallen doesn’t need to mean a day of gloom. I raise a toast to absent comrades, but do so with a smile.
I will spend s bit of time in the shop today. I want to put some more work into a shallow natural edge bowl I took down from the drying shelf. Maybe rough-turn some wet wood, too. It relaxes me.1 -
Good Morning
I like the grill I saw better. Its bigger and prettier.
Memorial Day has always been the most confused of holidays. The Memorial aspect is usual overlooked, regrettably. Communities like celebrations. Our old town's memorial service was a snooze fest of politicians speaking. At some point a chaplain would say a prayer. We stopped going at some point. Perhaps it is better for each of us to give thanks and reflect on the cost of our freedoms so we will fight harder to protect them and keep the partying to a minimum out of respect. We used to stop and talk with the vets giving out the poppies at the local Starbucks in our town. I had a chain of the poppies hanging from my mirror in my old car.
Long slow time in the garden yesterday. We didn't finish the soaker hose and weeding work but will today. Hip held up well even being off the cane. Soreness passed quickly so I must be healing or the pain is masked well by the steriods. Stiff today though optimistic that this too shall pass. I can walk longer without the cane without feeling it too badly. Nice partly cloudy day in the mid 60's.

Yes I hold all the sacrifices by members of the military and first responders in the highest esteem. We will have a military jet fly-over in the next few minutes over our house.
Glad your hip is feeling better Bill.
A somber day with the euthanasia Lee. I also hold my head in honor of dogs that gave their lives in service to our country too in that respect.
We use to also sometimes visit the graves of my mom and dad on this day too .
