Nice canoeing yesterday, river was high so we got an arm workout going upstream first half of the trip. Stopped and bushwacked into a swamp where I thought there was a heron rookery, but saw only one nest atop a dead tree. Scared up a bald eagle that flew ahead of us awhile as we headed down river, and we almost ran over a beaver while exploring a channel through the weeds. Sunny 70º and birds chirping everywhere. Today it's drizzly and cool, but I think summer is now around the corner.

Piano class this morning and piles of laundry and bills this afternoon.

    Good morning!

Yet another day starting with rain. I need some sunshine.

I spent a chunk of yesterday working on doors in the hallway. Today I get to paint. I also get to go to Walmart for supplies and groceries. I'm hoping to spend some time outside, but it is looking doubtful.

My knees are still bothering me, particularly my right knee. I'm still hopeful that it is arthritis and the weather. I need a full day of sunshine to test that theory.

Bill, I'm praying for your pain management and that you can get back to feeling great.

Sam, still keeping you and Joanne in prayer.

Bob, I envy your garden. Our garden is starting to grow just a little, but the tomatoes need sunshine.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin' gents.

Sadly, a follow up dental appointment is interfering with dog training this morning. I will do some dog training solo this afternoon. Hunt test fun this weekend, but have a trial the following weekend.

Overcast and moist, rained overnight, but not supposed to rain during today. I sure hope not, I have a pork butt in the smoker for a friend.

Did a pork belly brisket style this weekend. Came out perfect. The fat rendered completely rendered out and it was super tender, almost pull apart tender. Gave 90% of it away to coworkers.

So M tells me we have a pocket gopher problem on our wee farm in Monument. She says the neighbor shoots them with his 17 HMR varmint rifle, but she never sees them. She is trying the castor oil in the burrows to repel them. We do not want to use toxins and feel that the fumigation technique is not feasible for the area of property affected. I told M that is what the rattlesnakes are for and she was not amused. I have an air rifle that will probably do the job next spring when I get there, but need to do something now.

Prayers for Joanne. Sam your fixed wing has got to be feeling pretty good at this point.

Mike, your canoe adventures sound so enjoyable. I am really itching to get my boat out in the salt. It will like be the last season for salt water fishing in my wee boat.

I too envy Bob's garden. With just me here, our usual garden will be too much, so I am just doing an herb box.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

We have a bit of rain, here, this morning, too. It should clear this afternoon, so I can get the lawn mown.

I am yearning for a trail fix. Can't go today and can't go tomorrow (grandkids school talent show), so I might actually break my rule and head out on Saturday. I generally avoid weekend crowds.

Hoping you get a handle on the pain, Bill.

    Good Morning

Mike you need a video camera on your adventures.

My latest little issue has responded well to my ministrations of ice every two hours and some easy movement around the house with resting. Just a very sore muscle that needs some time. I plan to get out today and walk. I was thinking about doing an small herb box or pot. Critters used to eat them before we good enjoy them, except for rosemary. Fresh herbs are way to expensive to buy regularly. If Heather agrees we might swing by the nursery. Perhaps a small raised bed for herbs. Today's big project is to finally assemble the furniture that came in before I wacked up my hip.

Wow Mike what a great trip seeing all that wildlife.

Yea my wall-o-water type products have really accelerated my tomato plants for sure. Lettuce is a no brainer in cool weather.

We have a large pocket gopher issue where I live and are home to THE largest gopher the so-called Camas Pocket Gopher AKA Willamette Valley Gopher. this largest gopher only lives in the Oregon Willamette Valley. Nice to have a cat around.

Good luck with your pain Bill Lee Steve and everybody else.

    Good Afternoon,

some of you may want to try "Licart" (diclofenac epolamine) tropical system 1.3%; prescription only and insurance companies do not want to approve. Works great on my leg where cartridge is gone between tibia and fibula. Recommend starting out asking for patches if insurance will not approve tell them to give you "Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel, 1%" put on 4 times daily. Recommended by rheumatologist who gave me samples several years ago then introduced me to Licart patches last month.

We both had appointments at doctor this morning, my 6-month checkup and DW had to get some stiches removed from her last visit to hospital. Then I had physical torture.

So far, no garden for me, though I have been very tempted to put out some tomatoes, throw out some beans and okra seed. Orthopedic and therapist says no garden this year, I'm even paying a guy to half-as cut my grass.
