@LaurieWrobo oh no, I don’t want to meet without you! Let me pose a question to you and the group: how about Wednesday, July 23? (I can skip the class, just don’t want to miss the performance on the 30th lol).

@nancyinmiami - 07/23 works for me. 🙏🏼

@nancyinmiami That works for me! And your class sounds fun! That's one of the things I'm looking forward to when I retire, just taking classes for fun, like basket weaving. 😂 VA has a great program for seniors where you can take classes at some state scools for free as long as you aren't looking for credits. I'll probably take a literature or history class also. My days are going to be busy, but with fun stuff…not work…

I have had this book for almost a year, but haven't read it yet! Love the title of this thread, AND the book chosen - I def want to join in! Gotta sign up for the challenge again tho, first :p. Off to do that now :)

D'oh! The sign up thread is now closed! I may have missed my chance to join for June. We'll see. I put a request in on the WaistAways chat thread :)

@jessicakrall8 oh it’s fine. I’m taking a musical theatre performance class over the summer with my daughter. She’s the opera singer; I’m just the nut who wants to fulfill her childhood dreams now that she’s retired lol. As long as I’m there for our final “performance” (I’ll probably be in the back haha), it’s all good. Hopefully, they won’t make me play a tree or a rock (or the back end of a horse😂😂)

@nancyinmiami Your post made me remember my 6th grade musical (back in 1972 YIKES!) where I was a firefly… couldn't do too much damage dressed all in black and turning a flashlight on and off 🤣

I'm sorry - I checked my schedule and I'm on vacation on 7/23

@DaffyGirl88 your comment has me laughing out loud (and I’m sitting along at the airport😂😂)

Hi all. I was poking around on the net for helpful and free worksheets for this book and found the below set of worksheets. It looks like it would be helpful so I am sharing.

@trooworld thank you!!

@trooworld yes, thank you. The audio book referenced free worksheets but I could never find them.

I have ordered the book from my library and hopefully will get it at some point this week
I live in the UK so probably won't be able to join a zoom session but I think this is book club is a great idea and the book choice very fitting

The chat thread will always be open, so if you want to discuss using some of the discussion guides @nancyinmiami posted, feel free to do so. I'm sure once everyone begins reading, there will be some discussions in here on various points in the book. I haven't been able to find a copy yet…
Happy reading!

For a book that came out 7 years ago it does seem to be difficult to get a hold of. I was on the wait list at my library and it became available but I'm out of town and I had to pick it up by today or it goes to the next person in line. Back on the wait list I go. I've also got holds on the Kindle and audio versions. I was listening to it previously but didn't finish before it expired. Just shows how popular it still is this many years later.

@DaffyGirl88 I was told the same thing when I tried to reserve it…it has a waiting list. I will likely not read it, but am looking over some information I found out about it online. My budget is just too tight to buy it right now…looking forward to the online discussion about the principles of it though.

Hi all: our date is set: July 23. We can decide on the time as we get closer. If you’re still waiting on the book, that should give everyone enough time. But don’t worry if you’re unable to get it: there are plenty of free sources and information online. Whether or not you’re able to read it, please join the conversation!!

Saw your July book on Bookbub.com for 20% off today…fyi…saw several copies also on ebay.com if you don't mind used books…if you look into ebay, make sure to check the charity book shops…they usually offer great deals and free shipping in some cases. Just another option…

Ditto, on what Jessica said. I buy 90% of my books (cds, dvds) used from Ebay, which usually has a much larger and cheaper selection than even used on Amazon. Yes, the charity shops are a way to "do good" as well !!!🙂 "Used" is the way to be (delightfully!) more easily economical-frugal during these economic times, and makes your dollar go farther, IMHO.

I absolutely agree on used books. For someone who reads several books a month I am the worst kind of reader from an author's perspective as I never buy new books. I am strictly a library or used book person. I'm all about "reduce, reuse, recycle". 😊 I get many of my books at thrift stores, yard sales, etc. and use the heck out of my local library and the 3 online libraries that I belong to. I have purchased books on eBay if I couldn't get it another way and needed it for a book club, otherwise I am content to wait until my turn on a waiting list. I typically put a book on hold and then forget about it until I get a notice that it's ready. 😊
