Hmm, wonder why multiple people in Naval boot camp developed rhabdomyolysis? I know why, but the drill sergeants should have prevented. If I was the CO, there would be reprimands. Hope DGS gets back to training soon. Prayers that Joanne's wound heals up quickly.
Went in to clinic for emergency surgery yesterday on a dog that systematically ingested a towel, piece by piece. Over 60 chunks of towel we removed from the stomach through two incisions. New doc requested to be the primary, so I assisted. She did great, everything went well, we had a great time.
Then had dinner with DBIL. He and his much younger wife are going through IVF and it has been a struggle. His DW is 40, and her eggs have viability issues and when they get a viable fertilized egg, it has failed implantation. Plus, collecting his DNA requires a surgical procedure since he has had a prostatectomy. It was good to see him, and I can empathize, but now I know way more than I wanted to know about IVF.

Mornin' gents.
Sam, hope the new Naval recruit recovers okay… serious business.
There's an alternative to IVF that I heard about, NaPro-technology. My former doctor used to do presentations about it. Natural Reproductive technology; it uses research about the natural cycles of the body to fix the root problems of infertility so couples can conceive naturally rather than monkeying with artificial means. Fascinating science; maybe worth reading about.
Cooled down from 90 to 60 today; feels heavenly to me. AC stopped cooling yesterday and I fiddled with the unit, changed the filter and WOOSH, cool air again.
Made reservations for a week (if we last) up in the northwoods of Maine the 3rd week of August. Katahdin Woods & Waters national "monument", created by Obama (over the objections of Maine voters who don't trust the govmint much.) Campsite on a dirt road by the Penobscot river. $8 for the week (a reservation fee). The recreation.gov website was a nightmare, taking me around in circles for 2 hours, the app even worse. DD, DS & his 3 kids and me, so far. Google directions would get us lost and no cell service there; some roads have 2 or 3 names depending on which map you use…. Will be an adventure. DS and DD plan on hiking up Mt. Katahdin, an hour and a half away., the ultimate hike in the northeast.
How is a parcel of miles of wilderness a monument?
Chores today—laundry, bills, picking up and ongoing decluttering. Some more work on my piano projects; I'm making progress with it and might be done in a week or two.
Onward and downward.

Good morning gentlemen.
In my day in the Army heads would roll if soldiers suffered either heat or cold injuries. I never heard of rhabdomyolysis. Hope the young recruits all recover well.
Had a nice evening last night. DS and family came over for supper, rather than our all going out. Then we watched a movie.
We're camping next week, but our reservation is in a state park six miles from our house. Just want to spend some time smelling smoke and sleeping in a tent. It will make the logistics easy. If we forget something, we'll just drive home and get it.

Good Morning
Sorry to hear of these young sailors ending up in hospital during training. Somebody seriously screwed up. Thanks for the opportunity to google “rhabdomyolysis”. Sounds nasty.
Lee, enchanting dinner conversation. You are so lucky 🤣
Appt with my new Cardio guy was different. Only scheduling a stress echo’s, just echo’s unless something is wrong. My old guy did one every 3 years just to make sure all was well. He also doesn’t believe in annual checkins. That is a California Cardiologist thing. But in the end I am going in BP medicine which I suspected would be needed sinc ethe numbers have crept up a bit. And though he thinks tracking isn’t an important tool in weight loss he wants me back on low carb eating, which works better if you track things. ??? Mild encouragement to be more active. Blood work ordered, pills ordered, echo pending and I oikely won’t see him again unless I go south. Off to get a library card and see what resources they have on keto/low carb stuff. I decluttered my old stuff while packing up. PT exercise is going well. A bit sore at times and it is embarrasing how tired I get after 15-20 min. But I dug this hole so suck it up and get it done.0 -
I agree with Lee. One always has to be careful overdoing muscle exercise as it can lead to rhabdomyolysis (muscle fiber extreme breakdown and ultimately associated kidney failure). My yoga teacher who was a very very fit lady worked extra extra extra hard hard with a personal trainer and ended up in the hospital with rhabdomyolysis. Plenty off fluids AND a little less muscle stress will prevent it.
Hope Dave has fun camping!!

Good Afternoon,
DGS back on base, limited activity
Met new neighbor who followed Pablo and afternoon walker to our house yesterday afternoon. She is a retired ER nurse and has been dealing with breast cancer eight years. Seems as they have some of same doctors and use same clinics. Lots of knowledge and information offering to help any way she can.
Need to take DW for test this afternoon, go by bank, pick up prescriptions and buy groceries.
