90 degrees in my bedroom when I got home from work last night. No AC in our house. Window fans keep air moving from one end of the house to the other to prevent the oven effect. Inside of house is a few degrees cooler than outdoors as a result during the day. Once the sun goes down, the temps inside take a little longer to go down than the air outside. Basement is about 10 degrees cooler, so I take my yeti cup with iced diet tonic water and dinner downstairs after feeding the girls, they stay outside and lounge around the barn. I can watch TV or work on my laptop or nap down there. I could sleep down there but the bed is not as comfortable as upstairs, so I have a window fan in the bedroom blowing from outside to inside and an antique cast iron base fan that me dad used when he was a kid on my night stand blowing on me and the girls. Its warm, but tolerable.
Meanwhile, M, who doesn't like AC and discouraged me from putting in window units, is enjoying the central AC in Colorado digs during this heat wave.
I do not want to hear about having to wear a puffy jacket to be comfortable when drinking hot coffee.
Oh yeah, AC and internet problems at work.
Life is not very fair at times.
One good thing about the heat is the negative effect on appetite.
I am going for a cold shower before work.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning!
Hot and humid again here, but at least we have A/C.
The Abdominal Aortic screening went well yesterday. Nothing was found, so that is good.
My wife, on the other hand…. Connie had a telehealth meeting with our doc yesterday. She thought that she was only going to work with the doc to get off metformin to help her bowel issues. She did do that, but also got some scary news. Connie has stage 3A Chronic Kidney Disease. So…. We now get to totally design a new diet around low sodium, and watching potassium and phosphates. With her diabetes, it gets tricky. She's falling apart. This new to us doctor is very much into root cause analysis, and is very thorough (thus, the test I took.) The doc spent 40 minutes with Connie yesterday which is awesome. We'll forge ahead and do everything that we can to reduce progression. Connie is going to have to give up a bunch of favorite foods, I'm afraid.
I feel sorry for you men in our group who have to deal with things like wearing jackets with morning coffee outside. It is sad that you don't really get to experience a real summer. So sad. Our dew points have been running over 75 degrees the last several days. 70 is considered oppressive.
Off for a short walk before it gets too hot, and then to Lowe's for a door, trim, and other fun things.
Prayers continue for Joanne and Sam.

Good Morning
When I left the Philly & NY almost 50 years ago, the two things I knew I would never miss would be the hot humid summer days and the nasty winter storms and winds. One of the reasons besides finances that we left California was the increasingly brutal heat of the summers. The weather here on the coast suits us just fine. We enjoyed a nice day running errands, going out for lunch and walking on the docks down at the Marina while we waited for the Farmers Market to open. I'm still walking with the cane but I am able to get out for walks.

Difficult news about Connie’s health. But good thing the new doctor found it. Sounds like a really dedicated professional there, so she’s in good hands at least.
Enjoying a few days here in DD’s house while my place sizzles under the hot sun with broken AC. It’s the top floor of a brick condo building bordered by asphalt parking lots, so the oven effect is definitely going.
Have been tinkering with DD’s pool gate lock , shimming the gate and lock parts so thing will mate. One of those magnetic locks, automatic but persnickety about gate and post being perfectly aligned. It’s hot working there but the in ground pool is right there.

good day gentlemen.
Still enjoying the campground. I have had a Ghost Whisperer for several years. I love how light it is , compact too. Easy to pack it on hikes. I wore it this morning while drinking my hot coffee.
I am sorry for the miserable weather in much of the country. Sorry, but we don’t have room for all of the sufferers to move here to God’s country.0 -
Good Afternoon,
Continues HOT and HUMID, but no desire to move to West coast
Really have no desire to move again.
Lee you can get a small window AC unit for under $200; in my opinion it would pay for itself in a couple of nights. Girls would enjoy it also.

so sorry about the heat and humidity for all you sufferers . In short term very nice here as Dave and Bill say. Hi of 70 briefly yesterday. Probably hit 90deg a day or two next week but not humid. The issue for us isn't the heat so much as the huge swings in Temps without warning or time to acclimate. And after all in PDX we did hit 116 degrees one time (June 29, 2021). YIKES.
Our Grandson made it home from Dubai after a 15 hour flight to Seattle plus a short 1 hour flight to Portland later. Over a day of total travel time I am sure. sleeping in just now.
Lee like probably many folks in parts of Maine we never had air conditioning in residential homes in the 1970s. We put some in in about 2001 when I was recovering from major back surgery. Now almost everyone has some in or near Portland OR.
Sending lots of Ts and Ps for Connie. It is great she has a Doc who listens. that is one of my "requirements" for a Doc.Looking forward to seeing my niece from Chicago on Sat afternoon.
