Rain never happened here yesterday afternoon. A funnel cloud was spotted on the east end of Long Island yesterday.
I have gotten away from marinades and wet brines and mostly dry brine these days. I dry rubbed the skirt steak about 8 hours prior and put it on the smoker low at the lowest temp of 175 until it hit internal of 105, then seared on cast iron flat top. It came out medium rare. Cut in thin strips across the grain after resting for 20 minutes.
Hope the headaches have gone away, Dave. Somehow I missed that Rita had migraines. I know that migraines can be debilitating.
Vegetarian meal once a week? Blasphemy! Actually, it is probably a good idea. Heather is a smart gal.
Onward and downward ;-)

We had nice sun and clouds until around 6 and then a torrential downpour that lasted quite a while. Heard a few cracks of thunder. No funnel clouds, thankfully.
Yesterday I finally found out our piano teacher's address; he's been in a nursing home since after his fall and brain bleed last winter. I mailed him a copy of the sheet music for the song I wrote for him, "Senior Center Blues". Just melody and chords with words. Hope he gets a chuckle out of it. It's a spoof of various things that went on in our classes.
Have been putting together lots of camping breakfasts in ziploc bags. Not sure when I'm going or with whom, but if I keep prepping it will happen. Shooting for Katahdin Woods and Waters nat'l monument, if I ever get my car back from SIL's mechanic…
48º here. Another chilly morning, but sky is clear and sun is out. Walked 2 miles yesterday, but ate half a loaf of sourdough bread in my car, my achilles heel.
Have a good day.

Good morning!
I'm finding myself very stiff and sore from yard work yesterday. I hope it loosens up as I move around a little. I'll be doing more inside the house today, as I have dusting, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, and fun stuff like that.
We have a new Ollie's open near us. I had never been to one before. I like it. This store is a lot like Menard's. Smaller, but very good prices. I picked up a pair of Dickie's coveralls for $9.99. You simply can't beat that anywhere.
I am really noticing the shorter daylight hours. I think I'm OK with that. We are still having cooler temps, and the forecast is for more of the same for at least another week. I'm hoping we've seen our last 90 degree days for the year.
Have a great day!

Good morning gentlemen.
Another pleasant day - high or 74 - today. Plan to spend a couple hours walking around the harbor fest in Olympia. DS and family will meet us there.
College football really kicks off today. Yay for me, but Rita will not be happy.

Good Morning
Yesterday’s weather forecast turned out to be erroneous. Instead of our promised gray and cloudy day we got bright sunshine and a gentle breeze. We suffered through it. A wee bit of rain now and then a cloudy calm day. A good day to walk. I am “planning” on sorting and organising the spare room and see if I can make it more usable. We might need to move the recliner into the living area and make it work out there. Terriyaki Baby Back Ribs on the grill tonight along wirh some corn for the family and some griled large portabello caps. I had better get to work on the ribs

Good Afternoon,
Rain has been taken out of forecast, and it is already warmer than forecasted.
Heading over to Farmview Market, about 1/2 mile; they have some Labor Day specials plus farmers come in on Saturdays and sell under the pavilion
Our Ollies is hit and miss. but if they have something one wants it is generally lower than anywhere else.

Ooooh 48 degrees Yikes Mike! We did hit 54deg this morning which was nice and chilly after all our hot weather. Hope your piano teacher is doing the best he can and enjoys your Song.
We may have yet another 90deg day some time next week. We'll see. Getting to the end of that soon though.
Yup Dave 1 pm PDT Go Ducks as Oregon kicks off their season.
Going to nice Outdoors music tomorrow by a guy who goes to scenic places and plays Piano outside. Weather should be great. This show is in the wine country tomorrow. They will provide headphones so you can wander as you wish.
cheers all
