Jackie what a day! Bless you for being the listening ear as people process trauma. That is truly difficult work. Hope you treat yourself (not with food) as you recover.

Nice weigh-in, Michele ! Please, no worries on the spreadsheet, it's supposed to be fun, not a stress-farm. Whenever you're ready is fine. September is kind of a learning month, maybe in October we'll all be ready to go at the same time. Xx

    Congrats @ashleycarole86 !

I'm finding the bingo card to be very motivating @mkksemail 😁 BTW that was an interesting article about the 4x4 exercise, thanks for sharing.

@micki48 nice weigh in! I made time for some self care yesterday and today, went for a walk, enjoyed the outdoors, visited my SIL for a bit, tried a new face moisturizer, and did my nails today. I'm feeling a lot more refreshed.

Wow @zankash23 are you OK? That's quite the drop!

Back on track today, logged everything, stayed well within my calorie budget, checked some things off my bingo card. Now that everyone is asleep I'm planning to go try out a new workout video of some sort. I want to hit my step goal for the day so I can at least have done better than last week.

Tomorrow should be an active day, though there will be some tempting food. We're visiting my brother for his and his daughter's birthdays, we'll be having pizza and cupcakes. I'll have to watch my portions and drink lots of extra water.

Overall I'm feeling more motivated again and this group is a big piece of that, so thank you all!

@mkksemail I finally was able to read those articles! That's amazing you could possibly turn your heart age back. I like the idea of the Norwegian 4×4 protocol. This is how I can aim for my jogging intervals!

WooooHOOOOOO Jackie! 2nd place overall, as well as 1st place in the WaistAways Den! And wooooHOOOOOOO Candace and Ashley, as well, 2nd & 3rd place! Well DONE guys. AND Michele as well ! Way to represent, Team WaistAways! 🥳

Lauren, those articles really floored me. I am doing nothing of the kind, but I think I need to work my way up to doing something of the kind ;-).

Yay! glad you were able to access the Bingo Card, Ellie! Like you and Yinka and Michele, I too am behind :p. I was sorta kinda working on the formulas for my goal boards sections yesterday (lost quite a bit when I migrated, def doing a "Make a Copy" next time, haha), but my Hogwarts team was having a 'Relay Race' against the other Houses, and my attention was captured by that instead, for the most part. I def have some Bingo squares completed, just need to check them off.

I'm SUPER excited about the positive feedback from y'all, tho. And Jackie, what an uplifting post! I find you to be quite inspirational. You're amazing, consistent effort, consistent success. The upcoming family birthday celebrations sound fun! Love the plan you have for celebrating while staying on your path <3. Looking forward to hearing what new workout vid you chose, too.

Yinka, what a lovely time with your friends you had. GL on your today's sewing project, and I bet your tmo class will be so fun for the participants. haha, laughed the cheeky sticky toffee pudding! Sure, I bet the line dancing burned off more cals that that, certainly!

Hitting the gym today. I haven't managed to get there all week! 5 mi spin bike ride, upper/core, & lower, weights circuits this afternoon. Maybe a Flex vid tonight, maybe a PTEs sesh tonight, we'll see. Tmo I have a throat scope procedure scheduled.

My throat mysteriously closes sometimes when I'm eating, and I can't swallow anything, sometimes for hours - not even water (which is all pretty disgusting, as my body is overproducing saliva, to help get my throat to swallow. It started about 3 yrs ago, but so infrequent, I forgot to mention it to my doc until my checkup in May. Appt was scheduled then, such long waiting times for stuff, it seems. I kinda suspect it may have something to do with scar tissue from an injury I had as a small child - one of those hooks from the looms that kids used to make potholders and such with, got lodged in my throat, when I was bumped, while sticking the thing in my mouth. No idea why I stuck the thing in my mouth, in the first place. I was pretty young, the whole thing is a vague memory.

Wishing you all a lovely Sunday! ~ mk :)

    Steps for last week:

    9/7: 5324
    9/8: 5521
    9/9: 3446
    9/10: 4596
    9/11: 4323
    9/12: 4370
    9/13: 6390

    Wow, didn't meet goal once.

I have also eaten all the food in sight since my great weigh-in.

Dusting myself off and moving forward…

Way to go Team Waistaways! First place! Woot! Congrats Jackie on the great weight loss this week too. I missed that before.

MK - I filled in my BINGO card and I am ready to go. Thanks again for doing that. It's going to be fun and motivating. I hope I did it right. Wishing you all the best with your throat procedure. And OUCHIE to the trauma to your throat when you were young. Hope they figure it out and can help. Closing throat does not sound fun. <3

Watching football today and hubby says, "Do we have guacamole?" and I remembered I had an avocado ready to go and made some real quick. Now I am full up on chips and a Gimlet he made me and it's time to make dinner. I am not hungry. If it was just me, I would not be eating tonight. It would be "girl dinner". LOL

I'm tired from the previous week and don't feel caught up this weekend. Though I didn't do much. Ugh! I'll get used to it it just takes a few weeks. Spent time with my granddaughters yesterday and I will watch them tomorrow afterschool for an hour while their parents go to a meeting.

The scale was nice this past weigh in, but my eating has been a little off. I made chocolate chip cookies at my husband's request and I just cannot resist. They are so darn good. It's my superpower. I've been making them since I was 8 or 9. No recipe needed. I gave half of them to my daughter and SIL, but now it's time to reign it in. I want to be 218.x on my next weigh in. Very realistic.

    Have a great week everyone!

Back to log my steps and exercise for the last 7 days.

MK @mkksemail I was so alarmed when I read about your involuntary throat closures - I hope you get some answers from the doc.

Today's been good. I ate at prescribed meal times and did almost everything that I planned to do today. But before going up to bed, here are my stats:

    Sunday 7th September - 4971
    Monday 8th - 5164 / 30min walk
    Tuesday 9th - 2764
    Wednesday 10th - 5113
    Thursday 11th - 2733 / 57mins Caroline's Circuits Lower Body Band workout
    Friday 12th - 4632
    Saturday 13th - 3900 / 51mins Caroline's Circuits Strength HIIT Bodyweight and Dumbbell workout

And, Yay - we came first!

    @mkksemail

wow, like others, i can literally NOT imagine what you are going through, but you are one strong cookie to be managing that.

that childhood injury sounds terrifying too. anyway, hope you get some answers… that sounds like a very unique problem that it'll be nice to have some direction on

Night has been quiet, I dropped Brad at the airport in the early afternoon, took two hours to DEEP clean our bathroom, rode the Peloton for 20 minutes (yay!) and then ate a pre-made supper.. we ordered a few so my week would be easy with Brad away. I feel l-a-z-y now but I suppose I've earned that (what does that mean, anyway???)

Off to veg before bed. Hope everyone is gearing up for a great week. Thanks to those that have steps rolling in already.. looking forward to seeing how everyone did and now is the time to ensure you're thinking about what you want to achieve in week 3!

@mkksemail wow thank you! I haven't always been so consistent in my weight loss attempts but this time feels different. Idk if you remember but last month my husband ended up in the hospital, it was because he had food stuck in his throat and couldn't swallow anything for hours and hours. They diagnosed it Eosinophilic Esophagitis and said in his case it's likely due to chronic allergies but could also be from acid reflux. It sounds similar to what you're going through, I'm sorry you experience that! He was miserable when it happened, I can only imagine how you feel.

@micki48 homemade chocolate chip cookies are one thing I can't say no to, i would be in big trouble if I had any of those in my house!

@YinxFed nice consistency with the workouts!

@ashleycarole86 doesn't it feel so good to do some deep cleaning?! The easy meals seems like a good idea, less temptation to get takeout.

Today was an OK day, it mostly went as expected. I was up walking around most of the day, and managed to keep most of my eating within range. I did end up helping my kids eat their cupcakes, neither none likes funfetti flavor apparently. I ended up not feeling too great from all the sugar, so I've been sipping on water all day trying to settle it.

Does anyone use adjustable dumbbells? I need to add some higher weights to my routine but dumbbells are so pricey! I found adjustable dumbbells that let you add or take away weight to better fit individual needs. I'm leaning toward getting a set but they're reallllly expensive! I'm curious what they're like/how easy it is to adjust them.

Hi Sorry for going MIA - We went camping, and I weighed in on Weds morning, but by the time I went to post it, we were out of cell service area.

It was really bad though, 152.4

You can excuse me, or use it and I will update it this Thurs.

I wasn't perfect while camping, but I did move alot.

    Today is my new start.

I had a really bad weekend, and I'm up around 4 pounds from my awesome weight loss on Thursday. Frustrated to say the least. I sorta thought yesterday was the peak of it, but being up even more today didn't feel good.

Sipping on a protein smoothie before work and setting good intentions for a healthy week ahead.

    Yesterday's steps:

6047 steps + 21 minutes Peloton (woo hoo, felt good to get back on!!)

Hi everyone! I am checking in real quick to say hi and to let everyone know I am still alive. I had my race in August, then came back to a ton of work and Labor Day. The week after Labor Day, I went camping with my sister at Bryce Canyon. It was a blast, but the onslaught of work to get done just before and since that trip has been brutal. Especially on top of coaching U12 boys soccer, two nights of bowling/week, the school board, and a second job.

All of that to say, I haven't forgotten about anyone. I haven't forgotten to take care of myself either - I stopped drinking again and am losing about one pound/week starting back way up with vacation weight - I weighed in at 181.0 today. Also, my knee is on the mend again. I am doing crossfit two - three times/week and spin class two - three times/week. Both seem to help with the rehab.

@lauren_989 - if you haven't already, could you please put me on maintenance through September. I hope to get a better grasp of my schedule by October so that I can contribute more on here.

  • lauren_989
    lauren_989 Posts: 3,514 Member

@MaddawgMadsen I've got you down for maintenance through September, or do you mean support? Take care of those knees!

@ashleycarole86 I'm sorry you are having a rough few days. Anything in particular contributing? I think Brad is away this week, right?

@jguldi11 my dad has adjustable dumbells which he likes, but they are rectangular and slightly bulky. I do like however that they take up less space then a bunch of different weights! I also like to look on facebook marketplace for cheaper deals on items!

I had a really good weekend and back on track. I may even see green tomorrow!

However, we are also heading to the beach for 5 days, and I need to make sure I don't overdo it!
