    Hello WaistAways Clubhouse!

First, ty all for the well-wishes for my scope today. Much appreciation <3. And aplogies for causing alarm (wasn't my intention Xx). The procedure went uneventfully, however I have to go back for a followup scope in 3-4 wks to see if esophogus lesions are healing (was given a 'scrip to take). Apparently I have acid reflux disease, which was a surprise to me, as the last time I remember having an episode of acid reflux was when I was pregnant. Dx: "Grade C esophagitis was seen in the gastroesophageal junction, compatible with esophagitis. Severe LA Grade C erosive esophagitis, extending >10 cm proximal to top of gastric folds." hm. As I said, surprise to me! I really thought it would have something to do with scar tissue from childhood injury. Nope. Eric (hubby) picked up a scrip for me after we got home (omeprazole 40 mg), that's supposed to promote healing of the esophogus, and the fu is to check to see if it has healed.

We had a nice afternoon, actually. We went to Trader Joe's after, for bananas, and some this and that, then we went out for lunch to a new restaurant we hadn't tried. It was called Istanbul restaurant, which we had to try, as we've been learning Turkish bc daughter married a Turk :). It was so good, we ordered a full meal, with soup and dessert, for four, to bring to hers tomorrow night. We're supposed to meet up with her and my visiting niece for dinner and game night.

Jackie, I absolutely remember that happening to your husband. My eyes popped out of my head, I'd never heard anything similary happening to anyone else! I didn't want to jump in and make it about me, and I didn't know how to comment about it without seeming like I was making it about me, when you were in the middle of a crisis, but yes, I took note, and sent well-wishes through the ether, silently. It actually happened very close to the last incident for me. Pretty sure your husband's was the beginning-ish of August, my last extended episode was the end of July. It went on for about 4.5 - 5 hrs, the middle Saturday of my 3 weekend of Ren Faire holiday-making.

I'm super tired this evening (I actually fell asleep for about an hour early this evening :p. Ashley love the way you pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and start again. 💪

Sending smiles and well-wishes all around! Cheers ~ mk :)

@mkksemail it's so crazy how I've never heard of this before but now I know 2 people who've experienced it! I'm glad your scope went smoothly and hopefully the medication is helpful 🙏

@MaddawgMadsen it's annoying how sometimes the extra work we have to do to makeup for a vacation makes it feel almost not worth it. Keyword is almost haha. It's good to hear your knee is improving and you're taking care of yourself!

@lauren_989 I saw the rectangular ones and they did look super bulky. I ended up going with some less expensive circular ones that are a little more basic, for now they'll meet my needs. I'll be keeping my eye out on marketplace and Black Friday deals are coming soon!

Yesterday I was on the go nonstop. I managed to eat 3 healthy meals and avoided a bunch of snacks so I'm happy about that. It was a very productive day which is a mood booster for me 😊

    PW: 253.6 ? Lbs

    CW: 254.6 lbs

A slight increase is not too surprising considering last week's big drop. I'm not sad about it, just part of the process 😊

Ps sorry for posting a day late, I meant to do it last night before bed but I fell asleep haha

@MaddawgMadsen You still have to check in once in a while !

@ashleycarole86 I feel ya, I thought yesterday would be the highest, then I stepped on it today… Ugh, I've been going through the MFP and fitbit to try to get a grasp on why I lost a bit easier last year, and I think it's time to be a little more honest with myself about how well I am actually eating when I say I am. I didn't track my food then on a regular basis, so it was kinda a pain, but looking at the calories for each day, I definitely gotta move more.

@lauren_989 Great job, good luck on the green, and have a blast at the beach.

@jguldi11 Have you looked on marketplace, or something like that, people tend to get rid of dumbells and such on the regular. Or maybe even a thrift store? We've gotten the majority of ours from my husband's work, he works at an apt complex, and a lot of times people will set their discarded weights by the dumpsters, so he just grabs em and cleans them up, because you are right, they are really expensive. It's typically only the lighter ones though cause I think I have like 3 or 4 sets of 3/5/7 lbs, but he gets really happy when he finds a 20 or 25, those are usually only in singles though.

Okay yesterday was not great I was doing so good till I sat on the couch, then I got snackie. After I had a bowl of pistachios and 2 snack bags of cheeze its, I did go get on the treadmill for 20 minutes, so I could meet my step goal I set up on Bingo.

Tonight I am not going to sit on the couch, I am going to finish the laundry, clean the kitchen, cut some material for a bowl coozie (I am a horrible cutter, so I am going to take my time) then I will get on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I have got to stop the sitting on the couch doom scrolling.

Hmm I shoulda made that one of my bingo spots, a day without scrolling..

    Have a great day !

@lauren_989 - I meant support. Thank you. I knew maintenance wasn't what I needed, but couldn't think of support. 🤦

@Gidgitgoescrzy - I will do my best to check in as often as I can, and I do plan to be back regularly in October.. possibly November if I can't get caught up enough before then.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. My weekend was a blast, but on the weight front, it wreaked havoc as I enjoyed myself with reckless abandon. And I'm just disappointed after such a good weigh-in last week. Also, not sure if I'm mentioned it much here but I'm having a lot of trouble with my leg… I honestly think it started with bad ergonomics at work, it almost felt like I was getting a sciatica pain or something, but then my gait was affected, and now it's hard for me to walk without a limp… there is some weakness in my calf, etc… this happened a month or so ago and it healed up okay but then I tweaked it and I'm back in the same boat. I know all this extra weight on my joints isn't helping. So that has me a bit blue as I am not getting around as well as I want.

    9/15 steps: 6219

I was on track to meeting my goal but my stomach wasn't feeling great so I didn't get out for my final walk and went to bed early instead.

Happy Tuesday, Team! Too bad today isn't weigh-day - 3.5 lbs whoosh! down this morning! That kind of whoosh doesn't stick, but hopefully some of it will. Slept like the dead last night. Fell asleep for about an hour in the early evening, after Eric and I got home, then slept for 9h 5m last night, on top of that! And I still feel tired. Weird! The procedure didn't seem like a big deal, but maybe it's the effects of the meds used to knock you out? Oh, hey, I forgot that I took a picture of the main we ordered for dinner with daughter and niece tonight:

09 15 25 Istanbul Restaurant, Westbook, dinner to go for sharing with Katie & Sarah.jpg

Can't wait to try it ! Yesterday, hubby and I also shared a Turkish lentil soup (amazing), and a dessert (Kunafa, sprinkled with finely ground pistachios - also amazing) - we ordered 1 of the soup, and of the desserts to go with. :)

Reading your posts, journeying along with youse guys :D.

@mkksemail I'm glad your procedure went well! It's crazy about silent reflux. It wreaks havoc but you can't tell!

@ashleycarole86 I hope your leg gets better soon! Do some stretching and maybe PT!

We are driving to the beach. Staying with my husband's aunt tonight and then a hotel on the beach starting tomorrow! 🌞

Just popping my head in before bed!

@mkksemail glad to hear that you have a diagnosis and it's being treated. That Turkish dish looks amazing!

@jguldi11 I did consider adjustable weights, but it's as you say, so expensive. And the cheaper ones just look bulky and oddly-shaped.

I have dumbbells of 4kg, 5kg and some old school adjustable (you know, separate plates like 1kg, 2.5kg, 5kg) that can be built up to 12.5kg each. At the moment that's all I need. The dumbbells I use the most are the 4s and 5s. And I also have a 6kg kettlebell. I keep them in a box and it works - for now.

It's been a good day, although I didn't manage breakfast, something that I realise is important for my success. I did an Upper Body workout this morning and then had to make a couple of frustrating calls to the Tax Man. Then I just threw myself into work.

And now I'm going to bed.

    Night night everyone.

Thank you all for the feedback and suggestions regarding dumbbells. @Gidgitgoescrzy I didn't think of looking at the thrift stores but that's a really good idea, I have a few other things on my thrift list so I'll need to take a trip soon.

That leg pain sounds awful @ashleycarole86 ! Good job getting on the Peloton despite that. I can relate to the extra weight causing joint pain, it's so frustrating to want to do more during workouts and not being able to because of joint pain and instability. Slow and steady wins the race though, right? Lets hope haha.

@mkksemail you must've needed the sleep! Any good dreams? I usually have wild dreams if I sleep for long periods of time.

@lauren_989 the beach sounds lovely! Be sure to take some pictures and enjoy your time!

@YinxFed coincidentally I missed breakfast today too and it seems like all day I've been hungry no matter what I eat. It's crazy how missing 1 meal can throw things off. I almost never skip breakfast but I honestly forgot until it was time to walk out the door. I need to restock some grab and go protein options for those occasions.

I was able to check multiple things off my bingo card and even got a bingo! I even made sure to include some veggie our brinner dinner by adding zucchini and mushrooms to the scrambled eggs.

I've been more active the last few days, in fact I've met/exceeded my step goal for 5 days straight now!

I'm super tired so I'm I going to bed now, have a great night everyone!

Bravo @Gidgitgoescrzy … don't you just love the natural high that comes from a night where everything just kinda comes together? Love days like that

I have been up since like 3:30.. got up, couldn't get back to sleep, eventually at 5:45 I said to hell with it and got up. All good… I feel reasonably awake even though it was a short sleep and it allowed me to be more productive this morning than I normally am.

@micki48 hoping you can send steps today - thanks in advance.

My knee is slightly better today… far from perfect but having some moments of it being more bearable leads me to believe it will fully mend itself again. Agree with the fact PT might be a good idea, I had a good PT back in Alberta but need to get hooked up with one here.

    9/16 activity:

    5297 steps + 21 minutes Peloton

Feel good about this, made sure I walked a bit more so that I'd meet my goal

WWoooop! Bingo! wtg, Jackie! haha, I don't remember any dreams, I was just out, man. Boom! lol I think it was lingering effects from the sedation. I do know what you mean about wild dreams with long sleeps, tho. Def have experienced that phenomenon.

    Woop wooop! WTG, Vikki !

Nice, on your productive morning, and improving knee, Ashley 💗 I'm a bit envious of your Peloton. Such great instructors they have!

Welp, it's 'BK Perk Week' (Burger King Perk Week), and today's offer was a free Croissanwich with a $1 purchase … so I snuck out when hubby's alarm was just going off, and got us both an iced coffee (the only thing that cost $1, lol), and a ham croissanwich for breakfast. So yummy. But I'm oddly still hungry :p. Super odd, 'NO WAY!?' moment on the scale today! I stepped on, and it told me I had another whoosh down of an add'l -2.6 lbs, on top of the -3.5 lbs from the day before! (NO WAY!?!, right? 😂) Turned out, uh-huh, NO WAY indeed! I moved the scale (there must have been some crumb or litter scatter underneath), and sure enough …. up +0.2 lbs from yesterday (checked twice, lol), not down another -2.6 lbs :p. Hopefully I'll hang on to the rest of my down whoosh! from yesterday, for tomorrow's weigh-in!

Happy Hump Day! ~ mk :)

Aww @mkksemail what a bummer about the scale! They're finicky things for sure, another reason I like to track NSVs in addition to the number on the scale.

    Way to go @Gidgitgoescrzy !

    Awesome weigh in @cleaneater80 🥳

@ashleycarole86 boo insomnia. It's impressive you were able to be productive on such little sleep.

I feel pretty good about today. I had a snacky kind of lunch, dinner was a meal kit recipe for pork loin and roasted carrots. I burnt the carrots on accident so we had cottage cheese and corn on the cob instead.

I did not come close to my step goal but I did complete a 45 minute strength training workout. Does that get converted into steps? I used my new 10lbs weights and holy moly did that make a difference, I felt like I actually accomplished something.

@jguldi11 if I skip breakfast, even if I'm not hungry, I get ravenous later. I'm not one who can do intermittent fasting.

@ashleycarole86 glad your leg is slightly better!

@Gidgitgoescrzy great job staying active and not snacking!

I was hoping for a little bit more, but this is good.

Last night I wasn't as active, but I did get on the treadmill and I met my step goal.

This morning I had an appointment to get my stitches' out, thank goodness, they were soo itchy and driving me crazy… So my appointment gave me an extra hour, so I slept for 30 extra minutes, then got up and did an aerobics video. I am still going to get on the treadmill tonight because I want to finish the episode I was watching. I think I am going to get up the DVD player down there also, I did it once, but then the husband started working on the basement, then the youngest moved back for those 4 months, so since it's all finished and all mine, I think I am going to set it up just how I like it. Although my husband is trying to take it over, so that is kinda an issue too, I guess it's my fault there are 2 rooms, and I am trying to commandeer both of them, haaaaa haaaa

When I did the video this morning, there was lots of legs lifts, etc… eeeesh I really got to get back into regular exercise, it feels really good, and definitely gave me an energy kick, I just don't think I've ever felt so winded doing exercise…

@mkksemail That is so funny about the scale, mine is the same way, I think mine is because the floor it's on is a floating floor and it has some dippy spots, so I use the seams of the flooring to make sure it's always in the same spot. My husband told me I was being obsessive, till he started weighting himself.

    @lauren_989 Enjoy the beach.

Off to check off a bingo square !

    Have a fabulous day !

    Hi everyone!

I realized that my weigh in for last week didn't post. So sorry about that.

    PW 226.?

    CW 224.4

I'm just settling in to work after my summer off. Some stress going on with a new driver in the house and coordinating everyone's schedules. My husband has a coworker who has had a crush on him for about 2 years. She is very persistent and it just ticks me off. My husband is very good at dealing with her but decided to set some stronger boundaries since she doesn't take hints. He ended up needing to block her phone number and has been less friendly. My husband is nice to everyone so not his natural mode of operation. I've had some coworkers share some info with us that is just annoying to hear. She definitely knows my schedule and shows up in his room only when she knows I'm at the other building or it's my day off. It's just so annoying and she's a total creep. It bugs my kids when she flirts with their dad infront of them. I know she has problems and struggles with friendships at work. Just frustrating 😑

I started my challenge with my weight loss coach and it's going well. I was nervous but I'm doing all the things!

Happy weigh-day, WaistAways! (well, my weigh day :p).

Kristi ….. oooooo, I'm steaming in empathetic grrrrrr! with you! Gosh, what a jerk! Well done on the successful coaching challenge start!

Vikki, I rofl'd at the hubby thinking you were being obsessive until he started weighing himself!! 🤣 Yay for stitches out! GL (and another tiny lul) at the basement re-arranging! Oh, hey, first of all - woooot! Bingo square! I wanted to tell you, I was updating some conditional formatting rules in the weight section (to fix formula mixups) when I saw your week 1 showed red for your full weigh-in weight. I filled in the starting weight for you, at cell C166, so the running total is a real total, and not askew bc of the week 1 anomaly. Board looks great, btw! You did it right :D (sorry it took me a couple days to get to that. Xx)

Lauren, GREAT photo! Enjoy the beach (and hopefully the conference is interesting, too!)

    🙋‍♀️ Candace !

Yup, you're right about NSVs and the scale, Jackie! Sorry about your burned carrots (tho I have to say, burned veg are delicious to me, I love them broiled, charred, slow roasted, grilled, all of it! makes them sweeter :D). Wooohoooo on moving up to heavier weights!! Oh, hey, Yinka, I ordered that book, looking forward to its arrival (media mail, so it'll be a couple weeks for delivery, 'media mail' is slower and less expensive than regular post).

I am working on my spreadsheet goals today. Otherwise quiet day. Should be a gym day, but I don't think so …. tomorrow! ~ mk :)

    09/04/25: +0.7 lbs | 201.4 Thu, Wk 1 Sep

08/28/25: +3.5 lbs | 200.7 Thu, Wk 4 Aug 3 weekends of Ren Faire-ing, including 2 long 4-day weekends away from home (Huttopia, The Shire Hobbit House), followed by too long (~ 10 days) resting my legs from overuse, and not doing PTEs the whole month (thinking steps well in excess of daily goal was sufficient), along with not stellar food choices - and not just during Ren Faire, all adds up to this. Actually, it WAS worse, mid-month, I lost 2.3 lbs wk 3 (so that was almost 6 lbs up, before that!). 🐢 ... working on re-centering myself, getting back on track. Not fully there yet, but on the path!

07/31/25: +1.2 lbs | 197.2 Thu, Wk 5 Jul '25 wi Also had knee injections 4 weeks in a row, from Jun Wk 4, thru Jul Wk 4 (3 visco gel supp knee injections in ea knee, left knee started wk 1, thru wk 3, right knee started wk 2 thru wk 4). PLUS, Ren Faire weekends the last 2 weekends in July (& the 1st weekend in August), including one commute from home weekend (week 1), and two 4-day weekends Sat-Tue (weeks 2, Huttopia; week 3 The Shire Hobbit House). Lots of fair food/high sodium during all 3 weekends, plus KFC on 2 days (also high sodium!) between weekends 1 and 2 of the Ren Faire. Not a banner month, that's for sure... Should note, tho, that I did have a 'throat closing episode' at fair on Sat Jul 26 (weekend two of the Ren Faire), from about 30 min after arrival (eating 1st fair food), until about 30 min after leaving. We left early, at 4-ish, to head to Huttopia to relax, and for me to try to recover. ALSO should note! I had BIG weight swings this month, as much as +6.7 lbs 🥴 from high sodium foods consumed at Ren Faire (and KFC!):
    ~ Sun wk 10 of BLC 58 (Sun 07/13/25, wi=195.4 lbs), to

06/26/25: -1.4 lbs | 196.0 Thu, Wk 4 Jun '25 wi (1st of 3 visco gel injections in left knee on Monday).

almost a year after that ... 05/29/25: -14.6 lbs | 197.4 PW, for signing up with FF Waistaways! :)
a week or so later ... May '24: Came back to MFP at the beginning of May '24 (the 5th? not sure, that's the first day I logged food)
    19 mos after that … 04/28/24: +48.2 lbs | 212.0 New ""High"" score 😶
    14 mos later … 10/08/22: -33.8 lbs | 163.8 Lowest Fitbit weight
    08/19/21: +3.4 lbs | 197.6 'High' score, a month later (I didn't get off to a great start, did I? ;-) )

@mkksemail ooooh nice job getting into onederland! 🥳 I can't wait to join you!

@Gidgitgoescrzy yay for being in the green ✅️ !

@conleywoods wow that woman is being so disrespectful of you and your husband, how terrible to have that going on. Ugh. Good for you for following through with your challenge, it sounds motivating.

I had a good food day, but not much activity. I'm tired and have some sore muscles from yesterday's workout, which is great because it means I actually worked my muscles. I decided I needed to rest today, but I'm tentatively planning to take the kids for a walk tomorrow. My daughter has been getting bored on our walks and if I bring toys she just throws them into the road for me to fetch 😒

Time for me to get some zzzzs now 😴

@mkksemail Thank you, I also realized my steps were off, I didn't realize that goal number, was for the week, not the day, but I fixed it. I am loving the bingo.

It's Friday Yay ! A bank a lot of employees use, including me, is having issues and no one's direct deposit has gone thru… OMG I've been on the phone all morning, I had employees texting me at 6.30am. It's very annoying when things don't go smoothly.

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary; I told my husband I wanted to go on a nice long hike for it. Then we will go to our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch/dinner, so it will be a one meal day, which means I won't feel bad for having some chips and salsa.

    Have a great weekend !
