    Pouring rain over night, sun now peeking through clouds with a bit of lingering wind.

    Hope Connie's x-ray is nothing serious. Never got out for a hike yesterday, and tracking food was spotty. Tax refund came in mail; I like getting a check and not giving access to my back account to anyone, if possible. So far, my phone bill, car insurance come out, and pension is direct deposit, and that's it. And I never use online bill paying; I write a check and put it in an envelope with a stamp. Call me old fashioned but there's so many scams out there…

    Thanks for all the feedback on the house in Maine. Long drive to get up there, 8 hours if no stops. Need to talk with realtor next…

    Good morning!

    Thank you all for the kind words regarding Connie. She has an appointment with her doc next Friday. Meanwhile, she does not seem that worried now, so that is good too. I know not to worry until she sees the doc and gets more information. We have a really good doctor now, and that helps.

    We had our first hard freeze of the season this morning. 30.7 degrees at the Henry house. It is supposed to get into the 70s again most of next week. I'll be winterizing the rest of the things I need to take care of today. I have one little fountain that I will keep going because Connie loves it, and it will be warmer next week. It won't be long, however, and I will have to pack that up for the winter.

    Mike, I'd really consider the house in Maine, but I also understand that a house is coming on the market in CT.

    I hope that Joanne can start a healing process now. Prayers continue.

    Good morning, gentlemen.

    What is the Halloween equivalent of Bah, Humbug? Tonight, we will leave the lights out and ignore the doorbell. The weather should be lousy, anyway, which limits the number of urchins out trick or treating.

    I bought a Costco rotisserie chicken two days ago. When Rita went to cut it up last night, she found it wasn't fully cooked. I'll be taking it back to the store today. First time that has ever happened.

    Clear skies and 50's for trick or treating tonight, we have two large bags of candy from Costco for tonight. Expecting 100+.

    Hope Lee has a successful open house with multiple offers.

    They told Joanne that skin could get worst for 10 days after finishing treatments; they did not lie.

    Good Morning

    This is our first Halloween in Florence. But Halloween is Heather's holiday because of the little kids and her years working in pre-school. My son is in charge of the pumpin carving. Heather has picked out the fancy pumpkins and and consulted with him. This year she bought him a fancy carving set. For dinner she wants mummy hot dogs. But she agreed to take charge of that too since they are a pain. Weather should hold for the kids. Heather had a hard night so yesterday I sat with her and we just sat around watching stuff on TV. Today I need to get moving.

    Awe Dave man after my own heart. Our weather should be lousy too with some rain likely at least for the later trick-or-treaters. We really don't have a neighborhood of young kids near where we live and don't plan on candy for some drive-by kids from other neighborhoods or the possible one grand kid that might show up nearby. Don't need to buy all that candy.

    I use to carve a pumpkin with an imaginary object suspended inside in our minds. Basically a series of eight circles with lines to form a virtual NECKER'S CUBE. Make eight circles on the pumpkin corresponding to all the corner intersections of the Necker's cubes and make lines going out to the edge of the circles in the same directions as the cube lines. Carve the circles leaving the lines to the edges of the circles. I would like to carve other imaginary objects but that is the only one I have taught myself to carve. Didn't carve any this year.

    Wow Dave uncooked or incompletely cooked chicken from Costco…uh not a good idea.

    Steve: Generally speaking when medical things require urgent response the docs contact me right away so that is in Connie's favor.

    Gosh Bill mummy hotdogs look cute indeed!! So sorry Heather had a hard night.
