Yankee, Red Sox, Chicago cubs fans shouldn't agree with this nor enjoy it. they win by sheer buying power.

Alex rodriguez made more than the WHOLE starting lineup of the Florida(miami) Marlins opening day roster. Pathetic.

Although I do agree. The free market must decide.

As long as people pay hundreds of dollars to pack stadiums, and buy crappy merchandise, and watch the games on TV, one could argue they Earn that money, by generating that much revenue for their team.

General attendance is down due to the fact ticket prices are so high. If salary cap was inducted, owners would make more because they would pay players less, tickets can go down to please the public and the owners will STILL make money on those tickets, not to mention the 10-20k more people they will get in the stands to buy 8 dollar hot dogs and 13 dollar beers and the salary cut.

I'm from Pittsburgh. We have the Pirates.

There needs to be a salary cap.

Agreed. How can you ever compete in that division without having 10 stud rookies at 250k each, it'll never happen.

Can't debate what I don't understand! It's never made sense that pro athletes get paid so much for playing a GAME. Now if my son or husband was that athlete you wouldn't hear me complain!

    Double standard?......You bet your A**!

It needs to, as with all sports. Essentially, what is inevitable is high ticket prices to the point that only the rich will be able to afford to go.

Nope. It is not needed. Winning with low budget team can be done, it just requires a great deal of work. I live near Oakland and those years that were depicted in the book Moneyball where so amazing. I am not even an A's fan I was getting into it and cheering them on. In the end they did not win the World Series, but they built a great team based on pure stats.

Salary caps don't work. Look at all the businesses that have tried salary/compensation caps. The cash might be limited, but the other perks just kept growing.

    Debate.
