Came across this mule deer (during deer hunting season, yet!) a few weeks ago. I was able to grab my camera and get a few photos before it ran off. If only I could run like that deer....!

Here's a link to the story I wrote for Trailrunner.ca about my 100 mile trail run in North Eastern Ontario in September: http://trailrunner.ca/home/?p=1696
Not a very flattering photo, but gimme a break; I had just run for 29 hours.0 -
What trail is that in Arizona? it reminds me of squaw peak.0

Break? If you can run for 29 hours you can look like what ever you want.
Very inspiring.0 -

Great Story!0 -
I picked up some "local knowledge" at a running store yesterday. They told me about a section of dirt roads near where I live that have actual hills. This is central Kansas where it is mostly prairie and mostly flat. Not like the Flint and rolling hills in the eastern part of the state. However, if you can find a canyon or a river valley there can be enough elevation change to to put a hurting on you. Which is that I found. I'll have to get the Mt Bike down here
My legs are buring. Glad tomorrow is a rest day.0 -
Here's the trail i run on. Its an old rail trail so its pretty flat most of the way. I snapped this shot because it looked like a place black bears would like to play. Thankfully i didn't see any this time. i did a few months ago though. I saw lots of people in black that i though might be bears at first
alright done trying to get this picture to post.0 -

Where I was Saturday:
So much of this trail (but not this particular stretch of it) is too steep for me to run up, so I power-walk the ups and run the level/down. But...I have to admit I stop all-too-often to take photos on my outings.0 -
