Let me just say I dated a drug dealer for 6 years,(yes I have a shady past) 90% of his customers were paying for their drugs with welfare checks or food stamps.0

I'm busting my *kitten* trying to get ahead and NOW I'm at a point where I make too much money for this or that but not enough to afford it on my own kind of thing. MEANWHILE I see some of these b!tches sitting on their *kitten* NOT TRYING to better themselves and doin god knows what and receiving ALL KINDS of FREE ASSISTANCE! It pisses me off.
I know of a couple where the girl refuses to work and her boyfriend is a druggie ex felon working as a cook part time and they're receiving $400 a month for food for them and a newborn...PLUS WIC, PLUS MEDICAID....WTF?!?!
I've never have received assistance from the government and neither has my parents. But it does anger me to know that a lot of people aren't even bothering to try and find a job because they are so dependent on government assistance to get them out of the hole.
You know what else enrages me, women who sell the formula they received from the government to other women. What the fúck is that?!!! My bother-in-law's cousin is on government assistance (of course she f*cking is) and when I had my baby, she offered to sell me a case of formula she received from the government. Many women do this. They know they are breastfeeding and just to get extra cash they ask for the formula and make a profit off of it. They could easily call the social assistance person and request to have them not send any formula, can't they?!0 -

In Canada, they want to implement a welfare card. Rather than giving out cheque's to cash, they want to put the money on a card so that they could see where your money goes while on welfare. So that it becomes difficult for people to continue abusing the system.
I love the idea. There is alot going on here that shouldn't be...I'm all about helping people...but seeing what goes on here....the system is being abused bad. Its not only the Canadians that are abusing it...its the immigrants as well. You don't have to be a Canadian citizen to get a welfare check. When I lost my job.....I couldn't get half as much money for help as people on welfare do. And I paid my dues of working since the day I was old enough to have a job, up until last year when I got laid off. Thank God I have a loving boyfriend who took care of me and took on my expenses as his own until I got another job.
So I agree that the government needs to crack down on this stuff. No one should get a free ride because they want to sit on their *kitten* all day cuz they are lazy or doing drugs, and who knows what else while the people who really NEED welfare aren't getting what they need. Drugs, Laziness, and Luxury isn't a need as far as I'm concerned.0 -

This is how it works in Washington state. You receive a EBT card that works like a debit card (including PIN number) that is only usable at certain locations and for certain items.0
