I was waiting for one to be started today, but haven't seen it yet, so I'll start.

Quick 5 mile run today. Hopefully it won't be too painful, but the weights class I went to last night worked my legs out way more than I wanted.

Great glad you started the thread! :) I was super busy this morning.

My Achilles tendon is bothering me, it doesn't hurt but it feels weird if that makes sense? So no running I did an hour on the arc trainer, I did HIIT training. I got a great burn in!

I had planned to go out for about 5 miles this morning, but I'm sick and needed the extra sleep. Now eating soup and hoping I'll feel better before the weekend!

Today's a cross-training day for me. I'm off to do 45 minutes of hills on the bike trainer followed by lifting legs/back/abs/biceps. I too have a sore achilles & ten days to go before my 10k. Guess I'd better take it a little easy this weekend & next week. I hope every ones pains pass quickly.

*sigh* I'm so jealous. Between the running groups I've joined on MFP and the new issue of the running magazine I got in the mail yesterday, I'm itching to go run, but I've got ~4 more weeks until I can resume normal activity due to a recent surgery. The doctor did say I could start doing some exercise in about 2 more weeks so I might starting doing some light jogging then, but nothing too strenuous.

Sometimes you don't realize how much you enjoy something and how good it is for you (running helps me de-stress) until you can't do it for awhile.

ouch, I'm sore again today and barely did anything yesterday. I guess too much too soon after my marathon....even though the majority of it was stretching!

I can totally make you feel better - I had major surgery in June - 3 days after my half marathon - and had to take ALL of July off. Because I was recovering so fast, the Dr let me resume running August 1 - I was SO sad, I felt I lost so much. I had to promise a friend I wouldn't time myself for the first to weeks to avoid being depressed. Even with the light running I'd returned to - by the end of the 2 weeks, I was back at my pre-surgery speed and endurance levels again. You will do great I'm sure of it.

I started my day with Asylum Strength. I hope to get home at lunch and do a little Asylum Relief or Yoga. My piriformus is really tight causing me some knee pain. I"m trying to stretch at my desk at work, not doing as well as I thought. I may end up at the massage therapist to break it loose. I was planning 15 miles tomorrow, but may have to put it off a week to get this hip loosened up and my knee pain gone, it's a battle I've dealt with before.

I lifted heavy this AM, and am feeling pretty danged good. I was down a lb today and only 3lbs from my goal weight, 6lbs if I can get there to get my body fat % where I want it to be.

I tried to go for a quick 5mile this morning, but seemed to have jacked up my knee yesterday so had to cut my morning run short. Tried to find some tylonol at this dang hotel but all they have if ibprofen and I'm not suppose to take that while I am on coumadin. Maybe I better take tomorrow off...we'll see.

I had to cut mine short today too, I definitely wasn't dressed for the weather, and the wind was strong enough to push me off the edge of the sidewalk a few times. Hope your knee gets better and you get a good run in soon.

I felt the same way, I think I took running for granted until I got pregnant. Must have looked like a sad puppy at the window every time I saw someone go by in running shoes... Little one arrived in July and I don't think I'd ever been happier to get out!

Although some older/conservative doctors might advise otherwise, I've heard/read from multiple sources that there's nothing wrong with continuing to run while pregnant, assuming that you are already used to that level of activity. It's not a good time to *start* running (or training for a distance that you've never run before) but if you regularly run, there's nothing wrong with continuing to do so. Just recently a woman who is a seasoned marathon runner ran a marathon (well, she ran half and walked the other half, per doctor's orders) when she was more-or-less full-term. Just something to consider if you have another child! I'd question a doctor if he/she told you that you shouldn't run at all.

    Hello all!

I'm Cheryll, and just joined MFP last week. I hope you don't mind my joining your group. :)

I originally lost 125 lbs. with Weight Watchers and made goal and lifetime. Since then I've put on a few lbs., and just needed a change from counting points. Counting calories is working great for me so far. Lost 5.2 this week!

I've been running a little over a year now, and have completed 8 HMs. Currently training for my first marathon on 11/27, Space Coast Marathon. I'm so ready to get this show on the road! I actually attempted a marathon back in June, but only made it 20 miles due to leg cramps and the ungodly heat that day. That was one of the worst days of my life.

Anyways, I'm happy to be here. :)

I have decided to sign up for my first half marathon! It's the Nashville Rock n Roll half in April. I have had a couple of people say to me, "Are you sure you wanna do Nashville? I've heard it's hilly..."
    .................(eye blink. eye blink)..............
I say, so what? I'm not scared of no stinkin hills.

    Hello!

Going to run a quick 5K when I get home tonight. I really want to run 10 or 11 K this weekend. The weather is supposed to be good so it just might happen!

It all depends on what you call hilly. I ran in that area for a few days this summer while visiting family. I live in Reno at about 4500 feet and EVERYTHING by my house is an incline to some degree. Personally, I didn't find Nashville too bad. Of course, I'm deliberately making my first in Indianapolis next May...F-L-A-T and sea level...should be good!

The only time hills really suck is at the end. At the end of my first half, it took a sharp incline and omg it sucked. When I hit mile 12 it went up but it did go back down.

I got my first experience of running in hail this morning!!! My 5 miles started out with a pretty strong headwind and HAIL bouncing off my face!!! I literally laughed at myself when a bunch of cars passed me, because I know they were like "what's that crazy girl doing running in the hail!!!".... I LOVED it!!!!

Just the first of many, I'm sure. We ended up getting a little snow this afternoon. Welcome to Michigan winter!!!!!

That's what I'm thinking..if it goes up, it will come back down, HA! I am going to do this race, hills or not. What doesn't kill me, will make me stronger, right?

Yeah, I'm sure it's all relative.. I live in Alabama, and it's can be pretty hilly, but nothing like Reno. And Nashville, is also rather close to me, so I'm going to do it. Good luck on your race in Indianapolis!
  • I ran Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon in June and it was quite hilly (which I trained for). It helped that there were Army boys handing out water at the top of the toughest hill though

Oh no, my doctor was fine with me keeping up my activity level but due to a combination of snow, lack of energy and me not being a huge fan of the treadmill I really didn't keep up with running over the winter. Once spring came, and I felt as big as a house, I really regretted it! Impressive that anyone has the motivation to do a marathon full term, there's no way I'd have made it!
