Do you craft for others?

Do you knit/crochet for other people or are most/all of your projects for yourself? Most of the things I have done have ended up being gifts for people - mostly family members. I've yet to run into somebody unappreciative, but I've read horror stories on Rav

Pretty much exclusively. I almost never knit anything for myself.0

I use to be more for others but last Christmas I worked my fingers off doing all these gifts and it seemed that a large percent of them weren't knit worthy. So this year I have just a few gifts planned but all I seem to be doing is knitting for myself! I love knitting for those who truly appreciate it but for those who don't I need to skip it or I feel stabbity.0

"Stabbity" I LOVE IT!! lol
All my projects have been for others. Family and my kids. They've all appreciated them, thankfully. I think I would be very hurt if I put in all the time and work to make something and it wasn't liked or enjoyed. :-( It would make me feel "stabbity" too! I've not made anything for myself yet lol.0 -
I only knit for people I KNOW are knit-worthy. It's a very small list.0

KathasOtrophal, a dragon scarf? Sounds awesome. Are you willing to share the pattern? My grandson Eli has a thing for dragons.
Had trouble with the last post. Didn't think it would go. Plus..typos! :noway:0 -
I've made gifts for other people, who I would never make another thing for, they didn't seem to appreciate the time, work and effort I put into my gifts. I have a twin sister, who I LOVE to make things for, she always loves the things I make.
I'm waiting a little while longer, but I'd love to knit myself a sweater, something I've never done. I'm kind of leary, it can't be too difficult with a pattern. I'll see......

My favorite person to knit for is my mom. She loves everything I make her and shows it off. She actually took a shawl I made her to Tucson. In the summer. She said it was in case there were places where the AC was too high but I think she just wanted to show it off to her sister-in-law. lol0

That was the story of my life too, but now I need to do nice things for me. I've got a quilt for all 6 of my kids to finish and my 2 boys still have afghans coming, my oldest is getting Super Mario and I'm knitting a huge checker board for my youngest. I saved the tops off the gallon mustard and mayo jars from the nursing home kitchen to make large checkers with plastic paint.
My grandkids all get an afghans when they are little and I'm planning a quilt for HS graduation. We'll see when weddings start.
After I finish up my kids projects, I'm going to be making things to make me feel better and make my house over to just mine. I'm learning that I deserve nice things too.0
