Excellent facilities in West Lothian...

Hi all,
Just a quick note to say that if you live within West Lothian or surrounding, you may want to check the local authority facilities. They offer a membership called Xcite which allows you access to all of the various venues across the area.
I was previously a member of a very well known and expensive gym which cost an arm & a leg.
Although I'm from Falkirk, I work in West Lothian (with 4 sites less than two miles away) and the Linlithgow site is only a 10 min drive from my home so it's handy enough.
It might not be for everyone but the main benefit I've had from it is that all my racquet sports come free with my gym membership. I currently play squash/tennis 3 x per week which would be £12 p/wk alone....add to that the fact that I can use the gym/swim/etc as part of my membership which only costs £32 per month.....
Additionally, the sites mostly have fantastic equipment with a key system so you can track your progress and get info after each exercise.
On the down side - changing facilities aren't anywhere as posh as in the gym I previously used and are much more basic (almost harking back to school style changing rooms in honesty)...
However - if you currently play indoors sports and like going to the gym too - it's worth looking at! You just need to slum it a little when getting changed.
No posers either!!!

I've joined south lanarkshire's scheme for swimming (even though I don't live in south Lanarkshire, they have the best pool by far round these parts). Previously I was paying over £4 for a swim, but now pay £13 a month and can swim every day if I wanted to! They even have lanes sessions where you can swim without fear of being dive-bombed..cracking value!!0

I'm also in South Lanarkshire 'lormc' and have joined their SL Leisure membership. You can use every facility in South lanarkshire, pools, gym and studio classes with this membership. I go swimming, the gym and to zumba, Body Balance and Body Jam classes. Great value! I try to book the class earlier in the week so it makes me go as if I just left it to turn up on the day, I sometimes can't be bothered going, but if I've booked I have to!
BTW good for you for 65lb! That was a lot of weight to be carrying about and I'm sure you'll feel better for having lost it. You look good in your picture0 -
Thanks! I looked at the full Leisure membership, but I have my trusty set of weights at home, which I am far more likely to use. I really don't think I would have gotten this far if I had to go to a gym miles away. The chances of me leaving the house after a long way at work are slim to none - pop upstairs for 40 mins - sorted!
You keep up the good work!! Sounds like you have a good plan sorted out..0 -
HI
I'm originally from West Lothiaan (Whitburn) but in South Lanarkshire (hamilton) now. Haven't joined up to the SL facilities cos the budget won't stretch at the moment. Spotted on the site that there is a Kettlebell class at the John Wright Centre so will prob start that in the New Year!
