Clothing Size

Just curious about other tall gals like myself. I have weighed between 204 (highest) and 165 (lowest) in my "adult" life and have only ranged from size 12-14 (jeans and dresses), I'm currently at 178 pounds and go back and forth between the 2 sizes depending on brand. I have never fit into 10's even in college when I was down to 165 I was still a size 12. I'm 6'0. I do feel more comfortable in certain dresses and jeans when I am lighter though.
Have you seen big clothing size varience with weight loss/gain?

I was about 250 (I very rarely weighed myself) & in a 22/24, 20 for dresses. Now I hover between 155 - 165 & wear from a 6 to a 12 in pants / skirts, an xs to an xl in tops, & a 4 to a 14 in dresses- although the 14 is usually for length rather than... width? Idk, lol. I'm only 5'9 though, so the three inches you have on me might make more of a difference than I know, lol.0

Very interesting ladies! I suppose it also depends WHERE you typically lose the weight (ex. butt or stomach) first. Let's blame that one on genetics!0

Right now, I'm at 185 (5'10"). I usually wear a 10 in jeans, a medium in dresses and a medium/large in shirts. Even though I'm a good 35 lbs away from my goal, I'd just be happy to fit into single digit sizes.0

I am 6'1" and currently 279 and a UK size 22. (which I think is a US 20...could be an 18- some size charts say that there is 2 size differences between US/UK and some charts say 1).
When I was near my Goal weight I was a UK 14-16 (US 10/12- 12/14) at 195lbs. I am aiming for that size again.0 -
I'm 5'10" & am a 10-12 pants, 10 dress, M or L for tops. I'm currently at 188 & want to drop about 30lbs.0

I am 6'2" weigh 205 and were 10/12. I have to wear a 14 at Old Navy though. a 12 there does not fit my butt. lol0

290 here and my 24s are getting big, some 22s fit, others not. oh and some 24s don't fit either....I hate clothing sizes.....I remember the smallest I ever fit into in high school, at 140 pounds, was a size 10. that is equal to a size 4 or 6 now....just for perspective.0

At 30lbs heavier I was in a 11-12, and now at 158 I'm in 8-10. I don't think I'll ever be smaller than a size 8 unless I remove bone!0
-
My highest weight was 265 and I was in a size 20, pushing a size 22. When I started MFP I was a size 18/20 and I'm now a size 16. My dream size is a size 12, so I have a long way to go!0

I am 166lbs and wear a size 6 pant / size 8 jeans. I carry most of my weight up top and still wear mostly L/XL shirts. At this point, I am just looking to firm up and lose the loose skin in my midsection.0

I'm 5'11", 182 pounds, and looking to get to my goal weight of 150. I wear a tight size 10 in most pants; and a M to L (mostly L because of the boobage) in shirts.0

My highest size was a size 16 at 200 lbs but that was after both sons birth. I havent seen that in 20 yrs. But at my highest weight as of last Aug was 196 and i was wearing a 14. Now i am a size 12 at 173. Trying to get back to size 10 at 150. Can't go any lower than that otherwise I feel i am too thin,0

I am almost the exact same as you. I am 6'. My highest ever was 210. My lowest (adult) weight was 165. At my highest I wore a 14 or 16. At my lowest I wore 12 to 14. Perhaps I could get away with a size 10 shirt (I have bigger hips). But you're right, I have never seen a big size difference either.0 -
I went from wearing a girl's size 14 to a woman's size 14 (around a size 10 today) in seventh grade. Since then I have never worn a smaller size. I'm currently a 20/22 pants and a 22/24 top. I hope to be in a size 12 at goal weight.0

Currently I weigh 231, I'm 5'11", and wear 18/20 on bottom, 16/18 on top. I am a pear shape with a big butt! Haha. I always fill out my pants. But I guess I'd rather have a round butt than a flat one! Lol.0

My smallest size was an 8 at 140 lbs - I'm 5'9.25" - and my largest is my current size 14 (stretch!) at 190lbs. I'm usually a 11/12 at 160 lbs. I'd like to be back there. However, I've never been very muscular so now that I'm working on strength perhaps I'll be a smaller size at 160.
Edited to add: I've got wide shoulders and more breast than I'd like, so right now I wear a 16/18 on top, at least when it comes to suit blazers.0 -
My biggest size was a 16 after I had my first child, gained a ton with her. And my smallest size I believe was a 7 when I was 135 lbs. I am 5'11"0

At my largest I was 295 and wore a 22/24. My smallest "adult" size would be a 18. Currently I am down to 261 and wearing a 14 on top and in dresses (14/16) and pants I am a 19 (between sizes! haha. 20s fall off and 18s are too snug..). I carry almost all of my weight in the center...so I am hoping to be a 14/16 all around when I finish.0

This is a really fascinating thread. I'm 5'11, and at my heaviest (215) I was a 16. I'm now around 190 and I'm usually a 14, once in a while a 12. At my smallest (around 178) I could fit some size 10s, but they still felt a little tight.
When I try on dresses, it's usually by big boobs that force me up to the next size. I feel like though I carry most of my weight in my stomach, my boobs really get in the way of dresses.0 -

We have the exact same sizes in our stages of weight gain/loss. Ultimately I would like to get in a lose 10 at 145-1500 -
I'm currently at 257, and I fit an 18 or a 20 at some places for pants. So, a waist of about 38 or 40 inches. For tops, usually an XL or sometimes higher, depending on the store.
I can't really remember the last time I was below an 18. I think at one point in high school I was fitting at 16. It's been a REALLY long time. I looked much slimmer then somehow though...0 -

Sizes have changed, they've grown with our waistline. My daughter is 5'10" and wears a size 1. that would have easily been a 4/5 when I was her age.0 -
and in response to your question, I gain and loose all my weight in my hips and thighs, so I typically have 2-3 pant sizes in my closet. It seems that every 5-7 lbs is a pant size for me. Annoying really.0

I'm 5' 11 and currently weigh 253 and can wear an 18. But weird thing is when I weighed about 290 three years ago I was still in an 18. My goal is to be in the 190's and hopefully a size 12/14.0

I have always been big up top, broad shoulders & large breasted so even at my largest pushing 295bs I was in a UK 22 & now I am 70+lbs down still usually need a UK 18 just to fit over my boobs, if without buttons I can get into a well cut 16 but 18 is more comfortable except the waist is always baggy. I wear alot of gypsy style tops!!
On the bottom half though I was in a UK 18/20 at 295lbs but now can get in a normal cut (as in not designer cut) 14. I am all legs with no *kitten* & narrow hips. :noway:
Due to my bone structure though (large) I will never be a UK 10, I am presuming I will eventually get to be a UK14/16 on top & a UK 12 on bottom once I am down to around 175-180lbs.
Will just be nice not to have a roll of stomach fat making everything I wear look crap.0 -
I am 5'10 and weigh 125 and am in a size 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XS in tops. My highest weight was 2 days before the birth of my son and that was 205. I wore a 14 right after birth at about 190ish. I breastfed so the weight fell off pretty quickly.
I agree with what others have said in that it depends where you lose the weight. I gain in my hips and thighs and it is tough to lose there. and it is always the last place I lose.0 -
I'm 5'9, @ 208lbs and size 14...
When I was 175-180 I was a size 10... that's my goal.0 -
I am 6'1 and at my heaviest (245 pounds), I wore a size 18-20. I am now about 183 pounds and wear a 10-12. My goal weight is 170 and I am guessing I will be able to fit into a size 8 ??
I have a big frame too ...0 -
I'm 6'0", weigh 249, and wear an 18. At 155, I wore a 12. A 100 pound difference and only 3 sizes?! It's no wonder I put on so much weight without realizing it. :mad:0
