I was reading this on Playstation Network forums. so I copied it an pasted.....here
I am hearing that the PS3 version of Skyrim is have serious playability issues when the save file reaches a certain size. Well, if this is in fact the same issue that Fallout 3 and New Vegas has then there are some things you can try to improve your experience. I can confirm that these steps worked on FO3 and NV, but I cannot test them out on Skyrim, as I am using the PC version. Maybe some people can try them out and post their results.
Tricks of the trade:
1. When loading your game, do not use Continue. Instead, use Load and pick the specific file to load from.
2. Do not continually overwrite the same save file. On occasion save to a brand new slot and then delete the old file.
3. Turn of the Autosave. This will require you to have presence of mind to manually save frequently.
4. Delete your Game Data (NOT SAVED DATA). If you should be get to a point where your game is unplayable, due to lagging and/or freezing, go into your Game Data Utility folder in the XMB, delete the Skyrim Game Data file and then restart the game. Unfortunately this will require you to redownload the patch, but it should seriously help out your game's playability for a while.
5. Save, quit, then load. To fix lagging issues, save your current game, quit to the main menu and then load your game. This often works well.
6. Don't be a hoarder!!! I hate to say this, because it is contrary to my nature, but the more stuff you take from the world and put into a chest, the larger your file will grow. If you can help it, take only what you intent to sell or use.
7. Buy a Gaming PC and play the PC version. (Sorry, I couldn't resist. However, it is true. I have dealt with Bethesda's issues for years on the PS3. Ever since moving on to the PC, I have experienced only minor issues. Es muy bueno.)
I really hope that these steps will help out some people. Skyrim is such an amazing game and I realize what torture these issues can be. Maybe these tricks can hold you over until Bethesda's next patch.
Good luck.

Yea I read that too, but then went on the official Bethesda forums and found alot of PS3 users that have huge savegame files without any problems at all. So not sure. I play on PC anyways.0

I hear the PC has quite the laundry list of issues also. Luckily the 360 version is running smooth so far!0

Haven't had any issues on the PC, although I know there's a sound quality specific issue that causes a drop to desktop, but is correctable by going into sound settings in the control and changing the sound quality on the system.
I think the PS3 issue is mostly with older model PS3s and slower hard drives.
I've also seen a few threads on issues with the 360 version not loading in textures quickly enough in some areas of the world, but I haven't had a chance to witness any of these issues firsthand, I'm 27 hours in on the PC and no issues worth talking about other than the standard open world jank that comes with playing a Bethesda game.
They're working on a big patch for all systems, so I'm assuming that will fix a lot of the problems. My biggest problem with the game is that some of the textures in the world tend to be pretty fugly and there's some repetition in buildings/dungeons.0 -
Yea I wonder how long until the patch comes.0

My fiancee has the PC version and his is so bad, that it completely crashes his computer.. like turns right off. Usually happens when he tries to take stuff from containers..
I have the PC version as well but don't have his problem, but his computer is newer than mine!
I have the ps3 version of it too tho.. I bought it for my Fiancee cause I felt bad lol.0 -

When a PC completely powers off, it's generally an indication of a bum power supply, you might look at that first. No guarantees and maybe you already looked at it, but just throwing it out there in case. It's a fairly cheap solution if it's the problem.0 -

I have an original ps3 and (knocking on wood) so far, no problems0 -

I'm assuming by Christmas, they won't want the word out to ruin their Christmas sales.0 -
Interesting...I've had ZERO problems on the PC. Running smooth as silk.0

Been playing on 360 and zero problems thus far.
I've demoted my PS3 to blueray player only since their network was hacked.
Maybe the PC players are having hardware issues and it's not Skyrim at all...0 -

That's what I was thinking. Just because a computer is newer doesn't mean it's better.0 -
been playing for 360 and mine has froze a few times got stuck in the air once too lol0

My husband just experienced his first freeze this morning on PS3.0

Bethesda announced yesterday that the patch will be ready about a week after Thanksgiving! Not bad.0 -

Actually there are a number of things that can cause a PC to shutdown, I find the most common is overheating. Does the PC make a strange whining noise?0 -
Found one bug. Mysterious dagger floating in mid air. Pretty funny but harmless. After added to inventory it's gravity was no longer effected.
Off topic question... Who else hates freakin' frost trolls???? I am more afraid of them than the dragons (which are way easier to defeat!)0 -
As the save file gets bigger people start to see problems. Once i hit 11mb save file i started getting alot of lag. I can only play for about 1 hour then i have to shut it down and restart the game then im fine for awhile.0

The patch is due for release on the 28th... I hope it fixes it because I bought it as a Christmas present and I don't want it to disappoint.0

Even without the patch, I'm still enjoying it.0
