Day fourteen challenge!

Good morning MFP!

Today's challenge: I know I personally have trouble getting rid of things I don't use, even though all they do is take up space and cause clutter. Today, choose one thing that you never use and donate it, throw it out or recycle it. I know it can be hard, but a cleaner life is a happier and healthier one! Additionally, if you donate whatever this item may be, you can rest assured that someone who needs it more than you is able to have it.

Make a great day MFP!

This is a hard one! I cleaned house a few years ago right before I had my son. We live in a condo and we tried to get rid of as much clutter as possible so that we would have room for all of his stuff. I honestly don't know if I have anything left that I don't use on a regular basis. This will take some thought.

    Arghhhhh :embarassed:

This one is a nightmare for me! I admit I have a room in the house we call "The Study" but in fact, it's our desks, a bookcase - and a whole mountain of clutter we can't bear to throw out but will never use again... I've been meaning to sort it out for ages!

Also, my wardrobe could do with a bit of a re-shuffle. I am shocking for how many new things I keep buying without re-evaluating whether I still wear the old gear... I do sort it out every six months or so, but that time is drawing near now and it's a bit crowded in there!

So really, it's not too much of a challenge for me to do - I just need to find the time to do it, which will be the issue!!!

Well heck, I was going to do this anyways. :) I have two boxes full of stuff I need to go donate on my lunch today. Have been de-cluttering all weekend.

    Great challenge though.

Another awesome challenge! I love your ideas! Keep them coming!
I did clean out the spare room the other day but threw some items in my office thinking I may be able to them. I will give it up and donate them. I did give away a day bed that I wasn't using and have been meaning to get rid of for years.
I try to keep the "If you haven't used it for a year rule" going but I'll admit I'm not very good at it.
  • I'll try! I moved a little under a year ago and got rid of so much stuff - and my girls and I are still pretty light in the possessions department. We went for quality over quanitity. But we probably have some clothes or something we can part with! :)

I absolutely need to do this one. I have a lot of baby stuff that I need to get rid off. If I don't sell it soon I'm going to drop it off at the thrift store.

I need this one! I've got a bunch of old clothes just sitting in bags, waiting to be donated! And also a few things I could list for sale to get some cash for groceries, or something.

This is not a challenge for me as I love clearing the house and getting rid of junk. Was planning to do it this week anyhow in order to get ready for Christmas. As we speak I have a large black bag half full of some clothes that I am getting rid off. Since joining MFP I have lost 12 lbs and prior to that lost 6lbs = 18lbs total loss. Some of my clothes are getting too big so I'm getting rid before I'm tempted to slip back into them. Maybe I should go through my entire wardrobe tonight...............

I need to sort out the drawers under the bed. I want to buy a new bed with no drawers so where can this stuff live? Perhaps it should all go because I hardly ever open the drawers.

Good idea, but as I've opened this challenge late I will have to do this task tomorrow. ;)
  • Hiii Im new in here!

I live with my mum, so Ill try and clear out some of the food pantry for her! She's too short cant lean into the deep cupboard, then things get forgotten or go out of date!! I'd go through some of my clothes too, but its not worth it as I might need them again after losing some weight LOL! We did a big general cleanout recently - there are things I dont use much like some of my music cds, ps3 games, but you have run on things, and revisit them. So I aint touchin them! Yeah, my wardrobe is my big one, I should do it, but I have a reason to hold off...wait 2 mnths and Ill be able to get rid of some fat clothes instead of my smaller clothing, LOL.. Oh I did think of one other - my shoes, there are maybe about 3 pairs need throwing...

I donated old clothes, which are too big on me now, to a local church, and some to a thrift store.
I also gave all my old hamster houses and tubes to another thrift store.

Great work so far everyone! You've both decluttered and some of you have helped someone less fortunate than you. Well done :D

This is ongoing for me. I have a pile now. I tried to call Salvation Army or Vietnam Vets but I was on hold so long I said I would call later. They pick-up!
