I'm a huge zombie movie/book fan. I've come across some really good stuff and some real stinkers. I really like the books Day by Day Armageddon Series by J.L. Bourne. He is an active duty marine that writes in his spare time. There are currently two books in the series and he's working on the third. I also liked Dead City by Joe McKinney. Also for any zombie fan who has Netflix stop what you are doing right now and go watch La Horde. I can by totally by accident when I was looking for Hoarders. It's a french movie with subtitles and it's in my top 5 favorite zombie movies.

If anyone has any suggestions for other zombie book, movies or video games please post here.

Books, I don't have any suggestions.

    Movies:
stay away from "Zombie Virus on Mulberry Street" (it was originally released as "Mulberry Street"). It has nothing to do with zombies at all. It's about people getting bitten by rats and then turning into half rat/half human creatures. :noway: (I'm just glad I only paid $2 for the DVD)
Another for the "stay away from" category is The Zombie Diaries. It was a British movie should in first person perspective (i.e. as if the person watching the movie was holding the camera). It was a mix of 3 or 4 different stories but it kept jumping back and forth and got very confusing. It was hard to keep track of which story you were seeing.

As for good movies; let me review my collection of DVD's and I will get back to you (a guy I work with reckons that it is very easy for me to alphabetise my DVD collection. Everything either starts with a D for Dead or a Z for Zombie  )

I just watched "Deadhead" its not about jerry garcia as one might think from the title.
told from the zombie perspective. its not the best movie or that scary but its pretty funny.

    Recommend:

White Zombie.... every zombie lover should check that one out
    Zombie Holocaust....
    I, Zombie
For the Re-Animator fans, should check out Beyond Re-Animator

And the most messed up zombie movie i have ever seen is Deadgirl. I only mention it cause alot of my friends had never even heard of it. I dont recommend it for those with a weak stomach or are easily offended. Within the first half of the movie you will know if you dont want to watch the rest.

My biggest problem with zombie movies now is that alot of them are just exploit movies with zombies thrown in.

Speaking of video games: Deadspace is the best i've played so far. And anyone down to play Left 4 Dead one or two, inv me on xbox live DeadPunkWalking

I have Deadgirl on my Netflix list, along with most of the rest of your list Josh. Ive seen most of the rest.

As far as games, Left 4 Dead and L4D2 are of course good.

I watch a lot of terrible zombie movies on purpose, haha.
    Dead Snow is good, tho.

I would like more book recommendations as well, I just finished book 4 in the series Zombie Fallout by Mark Tufo. Also, Hollowland by Amanda Hocking isn't too bad for a YA book.

I just watched Survival of the Dead by George Romero. Sooooooo campy, and not really in a good way.
One of my favorite zombie movies is still Dawn of the Dead.

This came out last month, Zombieland TV show or Movie.... probably TV show, but it would be on Fox. And Fox likes to cancel good shows.

Video Game: Left 4 Dead 2, hands down

Its a squadron based first person shooter, with zombies. Its like $20, and if you get it for PC you can download levels, such as a complete recreation of the mall from Dawn of the Dead. There is also a level much like Zombieland. They even have mods to make your character look like characters from the Walking Dead.

I have a really good zombie book, cant remember the name though

oh it is so good. In that ridiculous sorta way, tho.

Its pretty hilarious, but in a well done sorta way moreso than a "I cant believe this was ever released" way.

If you want so bad its good watch Mutant Zombie Vampires in the Hood (or something like that)

Mutant Zombie Vampires in the hood sounds so absurd I am most likely going to have to check that out.

Have you seen: zombies of mass destruction, or AAAH, Zombies!

Or perhaps the classic... Redneck zombies, which is always a fan favorite for a good laugh

Personally I think Dead Island is leaps and bounds better than Left 4 Dead 1 & 2.

Here's a list of some zombie books I've read, i thought they were good but it's all about personal preference.

Rot and Ruin Jonathan Maeberry ( I think he wrote a sequel to it as well)
Brian Keene has written a few as well as some zombie comics
David Wellington has a series (much different spin on zombies though)

I tried to read the Brian Keene series of book. I was intrigued because the 3rd one takes place on a boat in the middle of the ocean with a gay lead character. I got about 4 pages into the first book and when the zombies were driving cars and making jokes I proceeded to throw the book at the wall. I'm definitely a George A. Romero purist when it comes to zombies. I don't mind the variations but when they start acting human it bugs me.

Dead Snow is definitely worth watching. I watched it expecting complete and utter crap but was pleasantly surprised.

I really like the books Day by Day Armageddon Series by J.L. Bourne.

I LOVED the first book! I haven't read the second yet. I should get on that...

The Zombie Survival Guide is pretty good. I haven't read World War Z, but I've heard it's also pretty good!

    Favorite zombie movies...
    28 Weeks Later
    REC. (Original version of Quarantine)
    Shaun of the Dead
    Zombieland

Never heard of Severed, probably good reason behind that.

Black sheep is hilarious! And I could go with black sheep being a 28 days later type zombie. It's a good laugh if anything.

    Happy thanksgiving, all

The book your talking about in the ocean isn't part of the series, but I can't remember if it's written similarly to the series it's been a really long time since I read them. Jonathan Maeberry has one book patient zero that the zombies talk and such, but Rot and Ruin is more Romero-ish. You wouldn't like the David Wellington series then either, they talk as well.

Warm Bodies by Isaac Marion (kind of odd for a zombie book but I liked it - a zombie love story lol)
Anything can be Dangerous by Matt Hults (a good anthology of ick stories lol...I believe a short of Maberry's is in there which made me want to read Rot and Ruin)
Feed by Mira Grant (I believe this is YA - good stuff)

  • More of a "radio drama" than an audio book .. but I would HIGHLY recommend the "were Alive" podcast (http://www.zombiepodcast.com/The_Zombie_Podcast/Main.html) ... going into its third season and VERY well done ..

Just curious....did no one see Carriers (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0806203/) or was it that no one liked it? I thought it was pretty good.

I watched it and spent the whole movie waiting for the zombies to make their appearance. Good thing I wasn't holding my breath. Otherwise I thought it was pretty good.
