    Hi!

How'd we all do over the holiday? I ate like crazy! I didn't go TOO over (well I did go over, but I see people binge thousands of calories over sometimes and it wasnt' THAT bad) but I wasn't happy that I didn't control myself better. Pretty much just anything that came to hand.

Luckily my plateau seems to work both ways - haven't lost a bit in 3 weeks but my mega thanksgiving (TWO of them) didn't cause any weight gain either. So....yay? No.... Sigh.

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! I ate like a pig. Four slices of my homemade herb bread and two slices of pumpkin pie at dinner. Saturday, I grazed all day, we went out for a nice dinner, and scarfed down lots of popcorn at a movie afterwards. I also exercised like crazy - a 90 minute "Turkey Ride" at the gym Thanksgiving morning (spinning), a weight lifting class and a 2 1/2 mile run on Saturday and yoga yesterday -- so it pretty much evened out. I was up 3 lbs. yesterday but this morning was only showing a 1 lb. gain, so it was water weight. My hubby, who is a personal trainer and physical therapy student, thinks I'm showing signs of over training and my right ankle and hip did feel a little sore yesterday, so I'm going to kind of take it easy this week and do only low impact exercises. Keep rockin' it and have a good week!

That is the only thing that makes me take days off too.

Well, that and when I get up to my time off cap (where I actually start losing vacation time becuase I don't use it).

    Happy Monday!

I'm enjoying this Monday...first day of winter break. Also, I'm feeling much better even though I still have a bit of a cough left. Yesterday was my first workout in over a week. I took it slow but it was nice to get on the treadmill again.

So is everyone finished with Christmas shopping?

    Have a great week ladies!:flowerforyou:

Love these -- I also want to work on my 5k time this year. Do you ahve a program for increasing your speed? What are you doing for it? I already do some cross training so I think i'm ok there - I'm debating if its a good idea to increase my distances and hope that my 5k gains speed or if its a better idea to run intervals, etc.

    Hello All!

Some of you may recognize me, many of you will not... It's been many months since I've posted on this board... in fact, many months since I've used MFP. I've come crawling back with my tail between my legs... I fell off the wagon :frown: I reached my goal weight (in fact, exceeded it) back in May/June... then due to finishing grad school, searching for a job, moving, and starting a new job, I got lazy. I am back and have 16ish pounds to re-lose. I'm still a non-mom and loved this group when I was on MFP the first time... hoping to find the same support this time around.

    My goals for 2012:
    1. Get back down to goal weight
    2. Maintain goal weight through the end of the year (for forever really, but I'll take it one step at a time)
    3. Get some form of cardio in EVERY day
    4. Become an MFP junkie AGAIN
    5. Run a trail marathon (I want to move from being a road runner to a trail runner... I've moved to Duluth, MN and it's AMAZING for trails here!!!)
    6. Learn to love myself again

Well, with that said, I need to get back to work. Happy New Year (yes, I know I'm late... but better late than never!)

    Happy Saturday Ladies,
Yup I have 3 biggies that I will work on this year.

I will meet my goal of 100+ pounds...right now I'm doing the drop a few pounds gain them back thing. I want to get that under control again.
2012 WILL be the year I become a non smoker.
I will make time for me...I aways let work take over my life but this year I will learn balance.

Maybe we should have a resolution check topic so we can support each other and check in on our progress.

Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm off to run errands and fight with the samplers at Costco.:ohwell:

Hello again non-moms! I have returned, again. I keep falling on and off. This time I am keeping it real! I have actually been working with a trainer since mid-December (once a week) and have managed to even get to the gym twice a week since I started with the trainer EVEN with all the crazy holidays. My goal now is try to make it to the gym 3xs a week with two walking days in there as well and one yoga day. A lot I know but I am signed up for the 1/2 Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati in May and I am determined to beat my time from last year AND to drop this flat tire around my waist. It needs to GO.
I just started logging food again. Just working out in the gym has made me feel better. I miss it but when I get stale on a routine it is easy to fall off, which is why I got the trainer to give me a mix up every week!
I did manage to put on a few pounds but that is only expected. I hope to be back in my jeans comfortably in the next two months. I am still wearing them but they are a bit tight. That will soon change!

Wa_Teacher - now that you have a routine of working out quitting smoking should be a little easier. I quite after I started working out and when I would get an urge I would go for a walk or do some pushups or something. It is hard for sure but you can do it! Don't focus on if you fall off just focus on taking it a day at a time. It took me a couple of times to make it stick. I am going on 4 years as a non-smoker so if you need a ex-smoker to lean on I am here for you!

    Welcome back KKSN!

Welcome back vendy! Don't fall off this time ok? The first day you feel like you don't want to do it, get on here and ask for some encouragement.

kksn I didn't know you before but Hi!

Teach you are TOTALLY going to be smoke free this year!

I did a third strength workout on sat which was a big deal for me as I *really* did not want to. I didn't do much (I only motivated myself by promising that I only had to do deadlifts, step ups, and shoulder presses). My boyfriend said its "adorable" when I workout which I take to mean "hilarious" because of those grunting noises once I hit around 2-3 reps on my deadlifts.

morning ladies! vendy, glad you're back! my sister is trying to quit smoking too - more power to both of you!

so far so good with my new year's working out and eating plans. i still don't think i'm losing. :grumble: but it will happen. i'm moving my focus to getting my 5k time down instead of the scale, so hopefully it will eventually work out on its own - in the meantime, i think i have a pretty good routine for my jogging that will help me shave off the time i want.

hope everyone has a great day - sweat some today!

Afternoon ladies! I am having a crazy day here at work. Scrambling to get numbers in line for my attorney (I am a paralegal) and then my second boss (aka idiot boss) informed me that my dental insurance was ineffective starting on 1/1/2012. Gee thanks for letting me know it lapsed a week ago. Nice to know. Good thing I had my dental surgery in December and not January! Punk. I loathe "working" for this man and I put "working" in quotations because really all I do for him is answer the phones and give him mail. As far as I know he hasn't paid my attorney boss back for my salary. (attorney boss, who I claim as my only boss, pays my full paycheck and covers my health insurance).

Today is my rest day. I did circuit training on Saturday, yoga Sunday and Circuit training with my trainer yesterday so I need a break or I will die! I am off to trivia night with old co-workers.

I have also decided that I will only log my weight once a week or every two weeks. I am going on how my clothes feel and once I really get back into routine I will go by inches. As the scale went UP after I started with my trainer. After all muscle is heavier than fat so screw you scale. You don't own me. :D

Hope everyone has a good rest of the day!

Like I always say, as long as I can be a size six (uh not some kind of weird size six, a normal one) I don't care if I weigh 300 pounds - actually I'd RATHER weigh 300 lbs. More calories to eat!

size six...wow. i'm shooting to be a size 10 or 8. and 8 is probably pushing it. we'll just see where all this goes and decide when i'm closer in to goal!

I think you are a bit taller than me (I'm 5'6") so that's a factor too. Size 6 is going to be very slim for me I *think* - I'm maybe 5-10 lbs away from a size 8 right now (about an inch of belly to lose to get into one and look good in it) so I'm hoping another 10 lbs after that will get me into a 6.

I dunno, its wierd because I see ladies who are 5'9" and say they are a 4 and I don't even see how that is possible!

    Happy Monday Ladies,

It's a happy one to me for 2 reasons.
1- I get to go back to work today after a week off because of snow.
2.- I have lost all of my holiday weight and I'm back to 165lbs. I gained 5.5lbs over the holidays....I will be more careful next year because it sucks trying to drop those pounds knowing that if I had stayed on track I would have reached my major goal by now. Live and learn right:ohwell:

How are you ladies doing with your goals and resolutions?

Coffee is done so I better go get ready for work.
    Have a great week ladies!.

way to go, v! that's great news!

i bet the snow you had to be out of school for a week was pretty major - probably a lot more than the 3 inches that will get us out around here!

today is a happy monday because after taking a full week to mope around and feel sorry for myself, i am back on schedule as of today, so it feels nice to be back in control! i'm off for a run, even though i know my time is going to suffer since i did absolultely nothing last week! but at least i'm mentally prepared for it. i'll be back on track by next week. have a great day, ladies!

Sometimes the first workout after a week off is the best time to set a PR.

That is awesome news V - and next year over the holidays won't you be at goal probably? so 5lbs then won't make much difference!

    Morning ladies!

    Chan: PR=personal record :D

V awesome job on shedding those holiday pounds off. I too am taking a slow step in that direction. Chan hope you had a great run!

I honestly am frustrated because I messed my back up somewhere this month and my Dr. put me on a muscle relaxer (which i will only take on the weekends) and a Steroid pack. I am also to go to PT but am torn because everything health care wise comes out of my pockets (useless high deductible plan) and we are trying to save for a house.
I know I should probably go but I don't know that they are going to let me come into PT for one or two sessions and then set me free. Of course I could just set two appointments and then say I will call back later. I am sure whatever exercises they give me I can do with my personal trainer and then some. Sigh.... I hate having a bad back. No fun when it goes out. I was just getting back into a grove with workouts.

On the plus side I am not gaining weight. I have managed to stick to the counting calories and am veryyyyyy slowly losing. Thank goodness. I realize this is just a minor set back and hope to be back on track soon!

    have a good week ladies!

15+ inches and freezing rain that made for a messy week.
