Trail Snacks

Maybe people would like to share their favorite trail snacks, whether bought or homemade?
I just posted in my blog a Raw Brownie Ball recipe. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/Almiel/view/my-raw-brownie-ball-recipe-173202
I also just discovered KIND bars. Had my first one on our trip last weekend. I love the whole foods aspect of it. They would also make a good rainy day breakfast that you don't have to cook/heat.
For caffeine and energy we use the Clif Shot Double Shot gels.
I've heard ProBars are good but haven't found them yet. I will check Whole Foods later this week. If they don't have them then maybe I'll order some.

Oh, this will be a great thread! Thanks for starting it!
I do Clif Shot Blocks on the bike trail too. I also do the Sport Beans. Sometimes the Beans are just easier to eat, but tend to fall out of the package if you're trying to eat while trail riding. Or hit a tree. I guess losing my Beans is still better than the tree.
One nutritionalist/dietition I know who's a big runner actually makes her own little baked sweet potato blocks for during her endurance events. I LOVE SWEET POTATOES! And did you know they are a super food? Right now I'm trying to perfect the baked sweet potato chips.
I like Accelerade better than Gatorade when it comes to electrolyte replacements. Gatorade has too many sugars. But I haven't tried the whole G1, G2, G3 marketing gig yet. If it's not a terribly long activity though I usually stick to water.
I also make my own trail mix for hiking and road trip. Usually some plain Cherrios, dried cherries, dried cranberries, dark chocolate chips, and almonds.
There is a thread on here somewhere about making your own granola. I'll try to find it and repost it.0 -

I'd be interested in the sweet potato blocks recipe! Sounds interesting. I love superfoods too.
Accelerade is awesome! I did the MS150 a few years ago and forgot my water bottle in which I was going to mix Accelerade. I had a bladder for water. So I mixed the accelerade into my bladder, even though I hate doing that. I rode much longer/farther than I thought I would or could! I only wish they were more organic like the Clif products.0 -
I usually carry the clif bars in my backpack when I'm hitting the trails. They taste great and help keep me going.0
