WOW that sounds stunning!!!!
I havent even thought about cake yet, apart from i know I dont want a traditional fruit cake, maybe one tier sponge, 1 tier chocolate (for my children lol) and maybe a tier of carrott (our personal favourite!!)
Thats if we have tiers, theres so many choices nowadays isnt there - cupcakes, towers, tiers, bubbles etc etc it has my head spinning thinking about it!! x0 -
Still trying to decide on cakes. We are getting married in 2 months. However, I am a baker and my partner is a chef. I think I will bake our wedding cake, but haven't decided what I will do for it yet. I am definitely making a grooms cake, as I have a few coming up and need to work on my sculpture skills (will be baking an armadillo cake -- with foaming rabies in June. LOL!!).0

Your cake sounds amazing
We are having something a little less traditional - we are getting ice cream cakes made. We are having 2 mainly because we couldnt agree on the same flavour. Not the turn over the ice cream container ice cream cake but some beautiful one made by an ice cream parlour in our town. Im having raspberry white chocolate and my partner is having the very classy goody goody gums drops flavour.
Its great for our february wedding which is in the middle of our summer, and also doubles as an extra dessert option...all for only $900 -

This is an example of what they will both look like. Apparently they will last a couple of hours out of the freezer without to much drama. Neither of us really like any kind of cake but we both love icecream!0 -

WOW that looks stunning for an ic cream cake!!! and with two of them it will look great are you having any lollies or something colourful scattered around the cakes?? on cake table?0 -
Our sort of theme is based around our flax flowers (again something different from the traditional live flowers) in yellow and black so will have something around the table that will fit in with that im sure if it was lollies the kids would love it. But yellow and black does narrow down the options somewhat...lol0

Omg i'm having a cupcake tower as well!
A mixture of gluten free baci, and chocolate/white chocolate marbble mud cupcakes, and the little cake on top is the baci.
Our cupcakes are going to have a mizture of pink and yellow icing (that's the colour theme!), and on top of the top cake there'll be little sugar people made to look like my groom and i - i've had to send them photos of him, and me in my dress, and our dogs, because they're going to make little sugar-pups to go on it as well!!
I'm so excited! All for $250 (that's 45 cupcakes)0 -

We did our cupcake tasting last week! We decided on our cutting cake (on top) being Irish Carbomb *Guinnes chocolate cake with whiskey fudge filling and baileys frosting* along with some of the cupcakes. The cutting cake will have shrek and fiona figurines ontop and heavy orange and green glitter on the base of the cake lightening up at it reaches the top edge of the cake. We have 4 different cupcake flavors- we loved so many of them! Irish carbomb, margarita, dreamcicle and snicker doodle with salted caramel topping. They were all amazing!! And they fit our colors of bright green and orange (also brown for a natural tone in the wedding party) very well! The dreamcicle will have an orange gummy wedge and orange sprinkles and the margarita will have lime green sprinkles on the off white frosting.... we have ordered some minis of some of them as well. The display should be fun! :-D
As for cost... we have not priced a large tower yet- but Jeremy may just make one.....
The cutting cake was 30 there are 108 regular cupcakes and 75 minis.... all for $300 ish! :-D0 -
We have a family member making ours and we are thinking of having a 3 tier with one tier being hexagon, one being teardrop and one being a circle but im not totaly sold on it not sure about the tear drop im also thinking about hexagon circle square. ive seen some of those and like it and if i cant decide im gonna just have all squares but turned in different directions and we are having our initals on the side of the middle tier and some daisies on the top since they are the wedding flower. our grooms cake is going to be a whipped cream based cake in the shape of a golf bag. What are everyones taughts on the hexagon, teardrop, circle? I need feedback:happy:0

That sounds fun!
My fiance's sister is an established pastry chef and has offered to make anything we want as our gift! Since she owns a gourmet cupcake shop, we decided to just go that route and make it easier for her since she's in the wedding also. We are going to pick out about 10 different flavors and get about 20 of each.. we also are going to have chocolate covered strawberries (white dipped and painted to look like baseballs) and then some baseball shaped sugar cookies.. something fun but simple and not too much work for her! We do have a super cute precious moments cake "topper" thingy so somehow or another that has to be incorporated too!0
