Use this topic to post your weekly/ monthly/ yearly personal challenges. By telling the group what you are hoping to work on, we can provide you with support, encouragement, advice (if asked for), and a sense of accountability.

I'll start:
I have an ongoing personal challenge involving water consumption. I really need to hop back on that bandwagon...

I have the same issue  Definitely working on that this week.

My other challenge is to do 30DS everyday this week. No slacking off, no breaks, only good things.

    Consistent exercise...I suck at it!!!
I think back to how much closer to my goal weight I might be if I had just been able to exercise consistently.
I have to manage my time better.

I spy a trend forming! Consistent excerising is a toughie, especially with things beyond your control like spontaneous extended work hours, children, gas prices (heaven forbid), not to mention the ever fluctuating level of energy. I hear you guys on this one. I have really dropped the ball re: getting back into my daily workout routine.

Also @SpecialK: You are losing weight faster than anyone I have ever SEEN. If you moved any faster there would have to be a new speed of light equation drawn up.

Here's another personal challenge of mine, as of late: Sleep. I know we made this a weekly challenge a while ago, and I was doing awesome, but since my brother's accident it is all toss and turn and no zzzz's. Even my sleep assist medication is doing nothing. Correlation between stress, exercise and sleep? Me thinks so.

I am restarting another Zumba Challenge, but I' going to do 2 weeks instead of 30 days. I fell off the wagon after 20 days! So I'm going to start over tomorrow! After my Zumba Challenge, I'm going to change it up with 30DS.
---My future sister-in-law is going to do it and wants me to do it with her! I think it would be awesome because My family is coming to visit in a month and my sister has been a neg nancy about my losing weight. Just today she said that my 2lb lost was "just water weight" although I've also dropped in inches. GRR! I'll show her!

I'm going to try to drink more fluids. I know it should be water but I'm addicted to my coffee and my pop. I usually drink a ton of water after coffee but I'm really going to try to carry this jug around with me!!

Well here's one for the books... run LESS! Sure, I want to keep up my fitness but need to let a few injuries heal over the winter before I start up a new training season. Of course, since I'm still working on the weight loss I will need to supplement with other exercises like walking/elliptical/swimming but my real focus needs to be on strength training.

So... run 3x week and no more than 15 miles weekly! And... strength train / yoga AT LEAST 2x week. Gotta work slow but steady on these legs so that my knees can withstand 30DS in the future!
  • Personal Challenge: Keep up with running 3x a week for the next 6 weeks. I am looking to start training for a marathon for 2013. Short term goal: workout to insanity as instructed by the calendar. Start eating better and more frequently on a consistent basis. Sometimes I just don't want to deprive myself so I give in. I need to take my vitamins on a daily basis so I will definitely work on that this week. Since the Holidays are coming up, I want to make sure that I don't overindulge. My weight has not been changing, so I figure that is a clear sign that I really need to watch what I am consuming while I am working out.

    How are these challenges going?

I have "owned" water for the past 3 - 4 days. Drinking 8 glasses and not feeling sick about it either. AND I have been sleeping decently!!

I am really considering investing in a bodymedia fit. It's the jaw dropping price that I can't seem to wrap my head around. Any of you guys have??

My personally challenges are things I plan to do every single week.

Burn 3500 calories in excercise a week - I'm on 2995 this week so should easily do that one
Sleep 7 hours a night - Only averaging 5 this week. But I'm the early shift this week so having to get up at 6am. Will be better next week
Drink 2 litres of water a day - much improved and only failed twice in the last 10 days
Not cheat on my low carb diet - cheat free for 11 days now
Be under my daily calories limit - has been quite easy now I'm also burning lots of calories.
Walk a mile to the train station and back every day - I don't even think about getting the bus now.

So I've been doing well lately. But I know I could end up ruining everything so easily. I wasn't able to do any of the above 3 weeks ago.

New challenges for the next few weeks:

Join a class in the gym (this is really hard due to my chronic shyness)
Stop doing so much cardio and start weights again
    Possibly get a personal trainer
Have the biggest weekly loss among people in this group at least once :-)

My previous check in regarding "owning" water intake has thus disappeared. Yesterday I had 2 - 3 cups... all day... and the weekend was sad as well. Today isn't going so well, only drank 1/2 a cup so far. It's just been insane with working long hours and having a bunch of Clients to see.

I also bought a Bodymedia Fit. I should have it by Friday. I can't WAIT to see what that sucker shows me. I am really excited about that.

I dropped the Zumba challenge and started the 30DS! I'm going to try to lose another 8lbs by Christmas. That includes me getting to my first goal weight and 10 lbs away from 1/2 way.
  • Hey Hot for Cupid peeps! I haven't logged in for a couple of weeks so I wanted to touch bases to see how everyone is doing. I have been diligently exercising 6 days a week. My personal goal for the next month is to squeeze in running in my busy schedule as I realy miss it. I have already missed weeks and feel extremely guilty because of it. So if there are any encouraging words I would love to hear them. Tomorrow is thanksgiving and I am working, however, I am determined to stick to my allotted calorie consumption and not eat too many sweets. I am hoping that we all keep striving towards our goals. I fully support all of you and hope we all stay motivated! We can do it.:)

    Hey all -

I'm actually feel really good this week - finding this group has been really encouraging and providing some very helfpul, positive competition. :) I have discovered that I can use the treadmill in our "gym" here at work, which is great because it helps with cost of a membership and time. Since I live alone, it can be hard to go out once I get home because I feel terrible about crating my dogs (again). They already spend 10-11 hours in the crate while I'm at work, so being able to get my running in and then head straight home is wonderful.

I suppose the biggest challenge right now is remembering to be patient. I want to be back where I was now... not a couple of months from now! *sigh* :)

I am happy to report that I've mostly convinced my brother to join me in running a 5k at the beginning of the year. That really helps with the tangible goals.

my personal challenge is to lose and average of 1.2 lbs a week for the next 9 weeks so that i can lose 100 lbs in 1 year. i'm at 90 lbs right now and it's been about 10 months, so it's definatly a possible goal, EXCEPT for the holidays coming up! of course, thanksgiving, x-mas, and new years will all be cheat days, but EVERY OTHER DAY will be AWESOME! :drinker:

i'm excited, and even if i only get to 99 lbs in a year, i'll still be happy

@Joyfulnoise- I love your positive attitude!! And I DEFINITELY hear you on the patience thing. This is a MARATHON. When we get to the finish line it will be work the LONG struggle it took to get there. I remember look at my ticker earlier on in my journey and feeling like I would never get to where I want to be. Even now I look at it and say, "it's been 7 months?! How is it that I have only come this far?!" It's not fair to look at it that way, and I know it. I'm 28 lbs down. That's pretty damn awesome. You'll start to see your acheivements pile up. Try setting short term goals to help you feel those successes more :)

@ Craft- Wow! What an accomplishment! That's amazing. And what a commitment it must have taken! I'm looking forward to celebrating with you. I know you'll be able to do it. :)

I'm doing quite well on the RUN LESS part - even set a 10k personal best last week :)

Still slacking on the strength training though... have only been getting 1x week recently
  • My personal challenge this month is consume 40 oz water a day and get to the gym at least 2x a week .

My biggest struggle is logging food.=( i have the hardest time charting food. Any suggestions.

The only reason why I am able to log my food 100% of the time is because I have it on my phone. Having it with you at all times makes a huge difference. If you don't have a smart phone or an ipod touch, then carry a small notebook to write everything down in.

My personal challenge this week is to do my workout all the days I’m supposed to…I’ve gotten lazy lately and decide “I’ll just skip it today,” but then that seems to be happening a lot more lately.

I'm with Jersey...I have the app on my phone too which makes it so much easier....but like she said as long as you keep track throughout the day, that should help you out :)
