Hello team UK!

Any new years resolutions budding for you?

So far I've got:

1) Eat more fruit - I eat loads of veg but I think I should try to get some fruit in for the sake of variety
2) Be better with money - Ok, so I'm never really in any debt or anything so I'm not bad with money but we do waste a lot of money and go out far too often so I think we have a lot of room for improvement which could help fund some extra travels and such

That's it so far but I'm still thinking!

    Hi mine are to....

Stop biting my nails- I say this one every year but usual fail lol.

Eat more fruit- I am terrible when it comes to fruit
  • Mine is normally to quit swearing. I always fail. It doesn't help now that I live with someone that is a non-stop swearer. I bought him a swear box for Christmas. I want him to pack it up before we have children.
I have decided that this year I would like to
    * be more positive
    * keep a tidy house
    * listen to more music and less tv - I find it makes me happier
I am sure there was some others but that is it for now

    Eat less biscuits.
    Eat more protein.
Eat less pre-packaged food (even those yummy M&S Fuller Longer meals, at lunch).

Definitely to get back on track with healthy eating and to exercise more regularly than I have done lately.

I would also like to spend more time on things that make me and the family happy

I need to get on top of my finances too.

Fitness wise, I've signed up for a 6 mile run (roughly 10k) for March, so I'm working to improve my running for that.
I'm going to give some serious thought to a half marathon.

I aim to hit my healthy BMI this year. This should be do-able now.

Work wise, I resolve to increase my publication output.

In terms of stuff purely and solely for me and my happiness, I'll pick up my guitar every day.

Take my multivitamins and iron every day

Get on top of my workload AND studying

Get back into running (need a jogging buddy!)

The last New Year's Resolution I made was to start drinking more (that was about 3 yrs ago.) I know most folks would make the opposite resolution, but I'd become such a lightweight that after a pint and a half or 3 glasses of red I'd be wasted.

That was a very successful resolution.

I kinda made a half-hearted resolution last New Year's to lose weight... it took me 7 months to get started  but having now lost 3st (43.5lbs 19.8kg) since then I think that my Resolution for 2012 is to continue to lose weight and get fit and be at least 15kg lighter next Chritsmas. I think that's most certainly an achievable goal.

Other than that, I'd like to make more time to visit dad and get him down to visit us more too.

I have lots. The main ones are:

    1. Get to my goal weight of 12 stone
    2. Find someone special
    3. Go home (my house was destroyed by burst pipes in Dec 2010)

I always set small, easy resolutions....

To be more organised. This will help me keep the house in order daily rather than spend an hour or two on a Sunday cleaning everywhere. It also means that I will have time for exercise before work as I will have got all my work things and lunch ready the night before.
  • 1) lose weight
    2) save up for my wedding and plan, plan, plan!!!
    3) get out more & socialise

I haven't made any, rather I make them up throughout the year and berate myself when I inevitably fail!

Various "ideas" about where I'd like to be though:

    1. Be better about going to the gym
    2. Stop bingeing on rubbish food!
    3. Be more open with my parents and let them help me with my future

I've heard that it takes three weeks to form a habit, so here's hoping that in 3 and a bit weeks' time I'll have some healthy habits!
  • Keep eating well, try and exercise more. Simples :glasses:

Well, I kinda managed my 2011 resolution - which was to be a dress size 16 for my birthday, which I did get to....kinda.....:ohwell: it depends on which clothing label you go with. I'm either a small size 18 or a large size 16.

But that was 2011! 2012 targets are
    1) Be below 150lbs by my birthday 2012
    2) Be a small size 14 or a large size 12 by the same time as 1)

I'll keep it short and simple, I'm more likely to hit my targets

I dont actually make new years resolutions as I never carry them through so I start things either at the end of the year or at the end of january but this year as of 2nd Jan I will be scheduling my week - I have so much I want to do that I need to be so much better at time management - now I will practise until I go back ot work (after long term sick) and then when I know what my work schedule is I will be able to really become efficient with my time which will allow far more time to do the things DH and I want to do

Don't have any as such as I part way through 101 in 1001 (http://dayzeroproject.com/) which ends in September 2012 but still got plenty of goals to meet before September :)..

To be fitter, 'healthier' and more productive! (Radiohead, OK Computer. ;O))

Oh and to be more social, which is why I am posting on this thread, rather than just reading it and moving on....

    Happy 2012 peeps! :O)

Hello all! I'm back on MFP after a 6 month hiatus, where I managed to gain all the weight I had previously lost...

    My new year's resolutions are:
    1. Run a 10k in March and carry on running
    2. Do more exercise and generally get fitter
    3. Read more - I only read the paper these days, and have loads of unread books on the bookshelves!

    1) Fit back into a dress I wore 2 years ago by August
    2) Go sky-diving (which means losing 7kg...it was an awful moment last year when they told me I was too heavy to jump!!)
    3) Go to the gym at least 3 times every week (that's easy cause I'm addicted anyway ;-))

I chose 2 things to focus on-
Finding the silver lining - I am a terrible one to be negative
    and
To trust my instincts - I rely on what oter think too much and need to start trusting myself :)

    1. To get all the jobs done in our 'new' house.. we've been in 9 months now and haven't really gotten started!

    2. Lose the baby weight.. and some.. I'd love to have lost another 20lb by my friends wedding at the May bank holiday and then the last 20lb by my birthday at the August bank holiday.

    3. Exercise 3 times a week.. I play volleyball one night a week so need to drag my sorry butt out more than just once!

    xx

    1) lose 8kg (to get a BMI of 19)by the end of April
    2) do a sub 19hr 400km brevet (best 200km is 8h14, best 300km is 13h27m, so doable if the weather is favourable)
    3) do a sub 28hr 600km brevet (currently best is <32hr but with 4hrs sleep, so doable but a big stretch in terms of sleep deprivation)

    My resolutions are:

    1) Run a 5k in June/July

    2) Start training for a 10k before the end of the year

    3) Do the Stroud Five Valleys walk again in September

    4) Eat sensibly

I've put together a proper fitness and nutrition plan, which I started following on Monday - early days but going well so far. I'm feeling really fired up, feel like I have at long last got my weight-loss mojo back :)

    1. Try to do at least 3 days a week veggie / pesciterian and one straight vegan. I do love meat but would rather not eat so much, feel a bit mean as I do like animals, and also just don't feel I need it in my diet everyday. We'll see how it goes!

    2. Have a major de-clutter of the house. Working in costumes/retail has left with a beautiful but space consuming and unpractical wardrobe...infact I have 3! eeek.

    Good luck everybody! xx
