Hi - I'm Jenn. I'm about two months into my dieting journey here. I am a mom to a two-year-old and an (almost) 8-month-old. I also work ft and I'm in school to be a NP so my life is super busy!! I love my life though and my kids, I started dieting because my BP and cholesterol were high. I started working out a few weeks ago and am doing pilates to target my stomach...which after two c-sections...is a mess :( i still look pregnant. I am struggling to do even one sit up, and I feel tugging on my scar when I do it...it's very uncomfortable. Have any of you guys experienced the same thing?

Hi Jenn. I had my son 15 months ago and I didnt have a C-section but I can tell you that the weight WILL come off. I worked out every day when I was pregnant and still managed to gain 36 lbs. One week post partum I was back to working out, but not at the same level of course, but little by little I started getting back into it. I also breastfed my son for the 1st year and I really believe that helped with the weight loss. You just have to stick to a plan and know that it might take time to get the weight off but it will happen. When the weather gets nicer, take your kids outside for a walk or jog, that will definitely help. In the meantime, if you have enough space at home, if you have Time Warner Cable you can do workout videos on the Exercise on Demand Channel. There are tons of videos on there that are 20-30 minutes long and some are even 45 minutes. Hope that helps.

Wow! I can't believe you work full time and you're in school with two kids! I just had my first six weeks ago and I am really dreading going back to work ft in March and wondering how I'm going to juggle that. Go you.
  • I have 3 youngsters but no c-sections so I'm not sure if these will bother your incision site. My sister in law turned me onto planks. They target your core and I don't find they strain my back or neck like some crunches. There's a bunch of you tube videos on how to do them (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiA9j-dR0oM) but you basically get in a push-up position with your forearms on the floor (elbows under shoulders), lift yourself up off the ground so your back is straight (no butt in the air or sagging), and stay that way. You'll probably make it 15-30 seconds. Do that a few times. Over time you will be able to hold yourself up longer and longer. You can do side planks too (you tube videos show them better than I can describe). I haven't been doing them for long now but I can definitely tell they're working.
  • I've had 5 c-sections, so my first question is - is it your external scar or your uterian scar? If it's your uterus, I would consider calling your doctor and just making mention of it. If it's your external scar, so just the skin stretching, I can see that. Especially if you are doing your crunches on a stability ball or something. Good luck! And I hth! ~ Tiff
