My daughter is a fitness freak and started me eating something high protein within 30 minutes of working out. She says it increases muscle instead of just burning them. i'm all for muscle, I'm a 200 lb weakling lol. I should probably eat some carbs beforehand too but I generally am not hungry in the morning and just have a cup of coffee (bad! with cream and sugar - it's the only ting i won't give up)

Depending on how much time I have, I usually have a cup of coffee w/cream at least 1 - 1 1/2 hours before my workout. Afterward, I have a yummy protein shake.

Most importantly, I try to eat something small before a workout. I go in the evenings (after 5pm usually or later) so it's usually many hours after lunch but still before dinner (we eat late) so I have to have something small otherwise I get sick. I haven't noticed a difference whether I eat more protein before or after, just when I start to incorporate more in my diet overall.

My dietician said carbs about an hour before a workout and protein within an hour after. I've also heard protein before too though.
