Has anyone tried Debbie Rodriguez's DVD series Success in the Saddle?
It is a 6 part exercise program designed for riders. I bought the set after a friend recommended giving it a try and just finished Day One. I walk about two miles a day, and consider my self moderately fit. It gave me a good work out - about twenty minutes worth. Starts out with lots of squats, and variations thereof - three demonstrators, with three levels of ability. The ab exercises (you use your core in driving as well - or should!) killed me, but that it mainly because I haven't seen my ab muscles in about 20 years! I really liked the shoulder and oblique work, I am struggling with my upper body position and think they will help in allowing me to open my shoulders more and keep them there!
I'll report back each day after I do them and let you know I think. .

Repeated Day one so DH could catch up with me - I am sore this morning as this impacts muscles I don't normally use. I will be interested to see how sore husband is in the morning as he rides on a regular basis. He like the work out, so far.0

Day Two done. Another twenty minute workout, focuses on hips and legs. Finding balance was a key objective today - a real issue for me and one of the reasons I was never comfortable in the saddle, I have a lousy sense of it! Husband did it right along with me - we found it challenging but not impossible by any means, like the short and sweet bit.0

Day Three was tough - this is the first time there were a block of exercises I couldn't do - motivated me to keep after it! For me the leg exercises are not as critical (but nice from a toning aspect) , but the core, shoulder and arm work is already beginning to help.0

Day Four sucks. It's all about abs. Left me breathless and frustrated. First time the majority of exercises for me are not doable. Blech.0

Day Five - a day late. Good group of exercises, all but one set doable for a middle aged person with no abs and no balance. Good balance exercises today.0

Good for You! IT is great to see how each day goes, huh! It'll be interesting to see if, by doing
this exercise set, you really feel stronger & more effective when you ride next! Thanks for all the
updates! This is one of the ways I learn... what to try next, etc...

Fnished the first round the other day - but haven't had time to update. Good basic workout - about 40% of the exercises (mainly the ab work) I found very tough to do, but I can see how they would help. Getting started on the second week and will report back in at the end of the series to let you know if there is an improvement. I dont ride however, so my main concern is core and upper body move-ability/flexibility and strength. Tried to get the husband in on this and may still convince him to try it, but he is not around this week so this program's effectiveness from a rider's perspective may have to wait!0
