Real quick, theres two lunch rooms @ work, the main one where everyone eats then the smaller one down the hall w/Fuchsia walls! And a piano! U could see it kinda if u look @ my pic where i have beard on my profile 
anyways, Fuchsia room is where the artsy fartsy employees hang and the small gay/interested crowd [the wallace's, me, that one blonde dude, and super butch girl who's hilarious]
Back on track here, the supervisor for accounting has always struck me as someone w/an alternative lifestyle, tho shes so ultra professional and sharp dressing, i only talk to her here and there cus shes management and im whatever i am.
Slow day in the Fushsia room, she comes in, sits w/me and we start talking about that show Breaking Bad. Then seemingly ounof nowhere she asks if i wanna go walk to the park across the street, uncontrollably gleeful i accept.
While were walking, i'll paraphrase, she tells me how im all trustworthy and gives me tons of compliments then she just out right said it, she said "hey david?"
Me: yeah whats up?
Her: im a lesbian, is that weird for u?
Me: why? Do u think im tryin ask u out?
Her: just wanted to make sure u knew, i trust u w/this btw.
Then i got all melted and told her i was bisexual, she said she thought i was full on gay cus how flambouyant i am w/ my singing and dancing
All in all, shes super nice, and the small Velvet Mafia chapter we got @ work just grew a little bigger.
Has anyone ever come out to you? How did it feel?

I'm a lesbian with a longtime partner and kids, so lots of of opportunities to be out. As long as I present myself confidently, I've always had decent experience with coworkers. The saddest strangest coming out at work I had was about 5yrs ago. Someone left a note on my chair and never did identify themselves.0 -
that is awesome! i wish everyone could safely come out in all aspects of their lives. nobody should have to hide, and only we as the community can break the cycle and challenge homophobia and help each other out.0

That's wonderful that she felt so much trust in you that she was able to come out! I bet that took a big weight off of her shoulders knowing she could come out to a trusted co-worker/friend!
I've never worked with anyone that's come out at work, they were all out already! I currently work with a woman (boss' daughter) who is a lesbian, and her partner comes in with her every morning. I tend to get along better with her partner, but my co-worker and I are certainly getting along better than we used to. Her partner is actually my acupuncturist.
The first girl I was ever with was a former co-worker of mine, and again, she was already out when she started working for us.0 -
A childhood friend came out to me when we were in high school. My knee-jerk reaction? " cool, we can check out guys together!". Ha ha!!0

I can't say I've ever had someone come out to me specifically. I've met people at lgbt functions (support groups, bars, etc) who I didn't know were gay and we chatted about it, but that's about it.
And while I think this kind of sharing is awesome, I also think it's important to keep striving for a time when it's no longer awesome. Instead I'd like to see a time when it's completely unnecessary.
At the company I work for now, the queer population is so high that it's nothing odd. We talk about our significant others casually enough that's not really a coming out--it's just a conversation. It's a nice change for me as I've never been in a work environment like that. And it's a technology company of all things.
So here's to ending "coming out" and instead just living.0 -
I've had 1 co-worker come out to me and that was about 8 years ago. She told me she was Bi one day out of the blue. I'm not sure that I ever really "came-out" there too, but when you hang out with 2 of the biggest lesbos in the company it just happens LOL Didn't bother me though. Even though we've both moved to new jobs and different states we are still friends. It's nice to be the person someone confides in.
At this job nobody cares, we all talk about our lives like we've known each other forever. It's no secret who is and isn't gay. Nobody is closed off about it. It's actually really nice.0 -

my best friend in high school, he secretly had a tryst with one of our mutual friends and i was the first person he told. i never told anyone what i knew, and i became his confidante...i believe when someone trusts you with that kind of information, especially if they're just telling you for the first time, i feel like you're tied to that person, it just takes the friendship to a new level0 -
Yea, people have always come out to me, although I don't have any LGBT gear (like patches and stuff) anymore, and you really wouldn't be able to tell I was gay unless you knew me or had superb gaydar. I'm glad people feel comfortable enough to be themselves around me, because it makes me feel comfortable to do the same around them. I can by shy sometimes. Also, people coming out to me has helped my gaydar tremendously (or either I take my time getting to know someone and can tell they're gay without them having to come out to me) which helps out with dating a lot too since I don't do the bar/club scene at all.0
