Hi: I'm a MFP member and also a reporter, looking for sources for a story on what happens when one half of a couple wants to lose weight and the other doesn't. I'd love to talk to a few Chicago-area MFP members for the story - please send me a message if you're interested and I'll supply details.

I can tell you in a nut shell. He was very supportive, but he continued his poor eating ways. After a while he liked the transformation I was making, he got the bug as well. We now food shop, workout, and cook together. I taught hm the value of reading the nutrition labels. He takes forever to pick out food now. I have to say its much nicer, and easier, when we do it together.0

My decision to be healthy and her decision to not be healthy aided in our divorce. Fast forward a few years, with my girlfriend now we both are trying to be healthy but for different reasons. It is hard even for couples that both want to get healthy because you have different goals, different body styles, different energy (calorie) requirements and different nutritional needs. Plus schedules differ, she likes working out in AM, I like PM. For a couple that is JUST getting started in being healthy there is lots of conversation that can help stimulate the relationship as you learn about different topics and put together different plans to get you to your goals.0
