Did anyone ever watch a "steamy romance"/"coming of age" movie and wonder why life never works out that way??? I sometimes wonder if I've sheltered myself too much lol..........

I remember going to see the Breakfast Club when I was about 20yrs old; I was in Amsterdam at the start of a month-long inter-rail tour of Europe and coming out of the theatre I had such a sense of wanting to do something with my life.

Of course nothing really changed at that point, but a few years later on I did go away to Uni to get a degree and then went off to live & work in the Netherlands for 5 years so I did do something with my life.

Having said that, I know that I've led a privileged and sheltered life - sure I've gone through the odd family trauma that wouldn't look out of place on a daytime soap, but compared with some of my friends, it's been a walk in the park.

I love movies - all sorts of different genres (the only ones I don't really get are Gangster/Mafia films and Westerns and anything by the Coen brothers (perhaps my brain isn't wired the right way to enjoy their films or perhaps it is a case of Emperor's new clothes???) ) But movies are fantasy and it'd be awful if real life were like the movies. In fact I think real life is 100 times better ... although maybe one day I'll wake up and like Bobby coming out of the shower, it'll all have been a dream

I just got done watching the movie "Latter Days" on Netflix....Second time I've watched it, and both times, the ending brought tears to my eyes. I went to college, have a good job, a house blah blah...but the one thing im still missing is "True" Love in my life. I probably shouldnt complain, because I dont ACTIVELY go out and seek it, but it would be nice to have a bit of fantasy every now and then lol

The movie Big Eden kind of pisses me off. There's no way a town in a rural Montana is that accepting.
