Off topic - Chinese chess, who plays?

Is it easy to pick up the rules, does it take some getting used too, and if you don't know anyone who is an established player how do you know you're doing it right? As instructions on the internet do not give pictures as reference just literature, which is not always easy to put into practice. Any advice is welcome x

    I am Chinese and played Chinese Chess, not sure we are thinking of the same one. I used to play it alot with my cousin in China but not played yet since I came to the UK. I would love to help if I can .
