I'm very excited to be a part of this new group! This weekend I am getting my Zumba Instructor License - just shy of 2 months since my FIRST Zumba class ever! I really love it, since I think workouts are so much more fun when you're able to dance! "Traditional" workouts are just so SERIOUS!

For my birthday in April I'm buying myself a Wii and my husband is getting me the Zumba workout pack. Any suggestions on whether 1 or 2 are better?

Happy Dancing!

I've never done to #2 but i have #1. So, to me I'd say get the 1st one cause I've never played the 2nd one.
  • I have both 1 and 2 on the wii, and they are both great. Number two is supposed to track your movements better, but I find that the motion sensors do not register properly. There is better music on #2 if anything, Will I Am and Nicole Sherzinger.
  • wow i just got sumba for my wii today did two 20 min workouts and the tutorials and holy crap im in love!!!

i do zumba on the wii 5 days a week for about half an hour and i love it! i have 1 and 2 (my hubby got me the 2nd one for xmas) and i like both for different reasons. no 1 is good but a little slow on picking up your movements if the belt isnt just right, no 2 is good as the music is better and it gives you idea of how many calories you have burnt.

I've been wanting to get the wii zumba for the days I don't do zumba at the gym. I try and go 4 times a week. I'd love to become an instructor but I heard it was fairly expensive to get into and maintain.

It is rather pricey to become an instructor, and maintain it. I didn't mind for 2 reasons....

    1) I'M SO WORTH IT!
    2) I was saving up money to become an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor about 7 years ago. My ex-husband (focus on ex) found my stash and bought a big bag of pot with it. So, this is a way for me to actually achieve a goal I had set for myself (sort of) 7 years ago!

OK, and 3....I'm also going for my ACE Certification this summer/fall and was using the Zumba Instructor thing in order to better motivate me to workout and get fit! Yes, it was an expensive motivator...but when you know you have that much money on the line, you're really NOT going to peter out!

Ok. well, I hope you get to do what you want. Anything is possible.
  • I just got Zumba Rush for the Kinect and I LOVE it! I was doing Zumba @ the YMCA twice a week but couldn't afford to renew my membership. I am finding myself knowing most of the moves thanks to my previous classes and doing Zumba more often since it is in my own home. Bonus I get to work out with my Hubby who wouldn't be caught dead doing Zumba in a gym! lol

I started doing zumba at my local curves. I LOVE it! I started out with two half hour classes a week, and now I'm doing 2 classes back to back 3 to 4 times a week. First exercise I've ever actually looked forward to.

I love all of these Zumba stories. The thing that bugs me though is you can't log Zumba in excersices on here.

You actually can enter your own excersize for Zumba....

If you go to www.Zumba.com there is a calculator that will help you find out approximately how many calories you burn. Enter that into your exercizes here on MFP....it should automatically calculate them for you based on different times (1/2 hour, hour, etc.).

At least, that's what I did and it works for me! :)

    Best of luck!

I had the same questions--what I find helpful is to go on Amazon.com and read the comments from people that have the Wii Zumba....from what I have read most people like the Zumba 2 much better ( I read the comments on both the 1 and 2)...Even if I don't buy from Amazon I go there and read what people think of the products...

I'm starting Zumba on the Xbox Kinect at my friend Shannon's house today! I love Zumba, but I've always done it in class in the past. It's been almost 2 years (other than on vacation), I miss my Zumba!! So much fun that it doesn't feel like a workout:)
