If I didn't already want to strangle Lori, her whole "you're a woman maybe you should start helping us cook and clean" speech that she gave to Andrea made me want to smack her. Overall this was a really good episode.

Yes, I was on Team Andrea for this episode surprisingly, but I did see both sides to the argument.
Who really thought Rick was going to leave Shane on the bus for a hot minute?! Also, where was everyone else in the episode? Maybe we'll find out next week.
I thought the ep was kind of weird because normally they pick up exactly where they left of in the previous week, but this time we were kind of left wondering what was going on at the beginning. I wonder how long it's been since Randall seemed to be moving around pretty well.0 -
I sure thought that Rick was gonna leave Shane on that bus...no gun, no knife....
I was team Andrea this episode too, and i too understood BOTH sides..BUT if the MEN dont seem to have a problem with her helping protect the farm...why does she?
Who else thought those walkers were gonna get Rick for a hot sec?0 -
I thought it was a great episode. I was totally shocked when it looked like Rick was going to ditch Shane, but I really appreciated the way they had Rick remember that brotherhood-like bond they share. I thought it was consistent with the idea that Rick tried to work it out with words instead of coming in swinging. I thought Rick's talks should have humbled Shane, who seemed to get it although he didn't really speak words to agree, kind of more hung his head. And once again, I think that Rick was pushing more buttons immediately prior to the fist fight.
Another thing I thought was interesting is that Shane was honest about shooting Otis, when he didn't have to be. No one else was there, and no one had anything but theories. It's these kinds of things about his character that make it really hard for me to dislike him.
I'm usually not to nit-picky, but I was wondering the whole time why Shane did bolt for the emergency exit at the back of the bus anyways before Rick came back.0 -
Man this episode deepened my hate for Lori and I'm glad that someone finally told her something. I was completely Team Andrea this episode.
My fave quote from Shane last night, "You can't just be the good guy and expect to live. Not anymore." Rick really needs to realize that. They should have just left that kid where they found him, I don't understand why Rick has to think on it some more. I mean it's already been a week since they picked him up..? I believe that's what I heard someone say.
I never for a second thought Rick would leave Shane... but I'm sure Rick will regret it in the few upcoming episodes.
Another thing I was suprised at was the fact that they let Rick go out there alone with Shane. With everyone thinking he's gone mad and everyone saying he straight up murdered Otis. I mean I was sure Lori wouldn't have allowed it, or Dale.
It was also interesting that Shane noticed that there were no bites on the security zombies, I wonder if that is going to lead to anything in the upcoming season...0 -
If they don't build a life outside their survival, what's the point in surviving? That's what Lori was trying to get across to Andrea. Sure Andrea comes across as all bad-*kitten*, but really, she's pretty much worthless. At least Lori works and cares for people. Andrea's big contribution so far? Shooting Darryl. Sure, she shot it out with Shane in the town, but basically they just wasted ammo and didn't accomplish anything but saving their own hides. I hate that Lori did the whole "let the men take care of it" spiel, but creating some sort of stability and routine is what keeps up their morale, and despite everyone (on here) hating on her, she's good at doing that. I remember Amy looking to her for guidance in Season 1, even before Rick returned, so Lori does carry aspects of leadership on her own merit, even if no one wants to admit it.
I really hate that Shane doesn't appreciate the qualities in Rick that makes him consider the hard choices before rushing into action. It's clear that Rick can make them quickly when it's necessary--look at when he shot Sophia when Shane froze up and how he didn't even hesitate to shoot those two thugs in the bar. Rick isn't always going to be right, but his ability to empathize with others isn't the liability Shane makes it out to be. Like he said, containing his anger when he realized what had transpired between Shane and Lori took a lot more strength of character than Shane knew.
I WANT to like Shane, but I'm afraid saving him, rather than just leaving him on that bus, is going to be the biggest mistake Rick ever makes.0 -
i was not team andrea or lori they both had valid arguments. I was hoping Rick would leave him but I loved how he taught Shane a lesson in the middle of the mob of zombies but i dont think it will teach him anything in the long run. I mean he should have left him again his anger got them in trouble imo he threw a wrench a huge one at rick that would have killed him if it hit him and then here came all the zombies and put them in danger AGAIN! Sorry for all the Shane lovers I just dont like him he can be sexy but he is a prob with his short fuse imo.0

I thought the ep was kind of weird because normally they pick up exactly where they left of in the previous week, but this time we were kind of left wondering what was going on at the beginning.
I wondered the same thing. I thought maybe I had missed the first few minutes of the episode. Although it was a bit odd I thought it helped moved the story line along. I wouldn't have wanted to watch 10 minutes of everyone arguing about what they were going to do with Randall.0 -
The no bites on the security walkers was weird, even Rick looked @ them twice..like HUMMMM...but if it was a cut..(like Rick said it may have been) wouldnt that mean that the walker blood got in them some how THRU a cut......they BOTH cut their hands to lore the walkers to stab them in the heads....and Rick was all BLOODY from the walkers that was all on him....
Will see next week0 -
at the beginning of the episode I was lost and panicked for a moment thinking I missed a week. So glad I didn't!!
As for the women...I can't pick Team Andrea or Team Lori, because I can't stand either one. However, If I had to choose the next character to be Walker Meat it would be Lori.
The episode was just ok for me. Its interesting how they found out that the two police men had no bite marks, and decided it was from scratches YET When Shane was in the bus, he purposely cut his hand open with a knife that he had just stuck in the head of a walker.... *confused*0 -
I lol'd when they drove over the zombie head and it squashed everywhere. I think that was my favorite part of last night's show.0
-
Thank God there are some damn zombies in the zombie show again. I was gettin' tired of the whining and boohoo bull****tery. Shane got the ***** slap he needed, though judging by the preview for the next episode, I have a feeling he didn't really take it to heart like he should have and may just go further off the deep end.
3 cheers for Rick growing a pair finally. I was waiting for Andrea to punch Lori. Lori is getting on my nerves. She's got a very "queen bee" attitude.0 -

Yeah, I'm curious about that also... I'm sure it's another unanswered question that (at the pace the show is moving) will get answered sometime after the year 2100.
I also really don't get why Rick brought the kid back to the farm and patched him up just to kill him anyway after they found out he knew Maggie. That whole storyline seems ill-conceived to me.0 -
I hate Lori! Andrea had very good arguments. So far, Lori has everything she wants still while others have lost out.
I really think Rick made the mistake when he saved Randall at the bar. They should have shot him then and there. Shane is right. Again. The groups safety should come first. That being said, they either need to let Randall stay or kill him, dragging him all over the place and torturing him in the barn (from the looks of the next episode) is just wasting time.
It seems like there is still trouble to come between Rick and Shane.0 -
Although it's risky, I think there was a good chance that Randall would have been safe staying with the group. Randall is a local and Maggie could confirm that. All of the other survivors they encountered in Randall's group are tough sounding Urban types (Philly/Jersey accents). he probably did just join up with them for survival. Randall would probably see that things are better off for him at the Farm where are least he knows Maggie, and would be better off staying with them, unless there is something more important for him waiting back at the other group.
But some things don't add up with him - why not tell them at the farm that he knew Maggie? Also I was a little bothered when he killed the one female zombie. He seemed to be toying with her a little bit, and then stabbed her head like 15 times, about 14 more than he needed. He may be a sick puppy at the end of the day, but the rest of characters wouldn't know that yet.0 -

The whole zombie policeman thing was so weird with the "scratches" and totally bugged me. Then on top of that the whole Shane thing with cutting himself after he took it to a zombie. Not to mention Rick going to town on those three zombies getting zombie blood all over his face which was cut up from the fight.
I need some clarification, zombie blood doesnt change you.... just bites but also scratches? So confused0 -

I totally agree with this!! Or if Maggie recognized him why wouldn't she say something? He also mentioned that she didn't know him. Maybe they didn't ever see each other?
It did seem weird that he kept stabbing that zombie well after the fact that she was dead. That definitely threw up some red flags for me. This character better contribute something good to the plot line because basically they wasted a trip out just to drop him off and bring him back. Did anyone else notice how he was duct taped to the front seat? I thought that was hilarious.0 -
Yep, we got a good laugh out of the duct tape. Also the sound effects of the fist fight when they were off screen were pretty funny
I thought the shots from the kid's P,o.V. were also well shot. They made Rick and Shane look like pretty bad dudes in a Pulp Fiction sort of way.0 -

I don't care for Lori or Andrea - they both have this "I know better than you do" attitude. I was waiting for Lori to punch Andrea in the face after the whole "boyfriend" comment. I wonder if Andrea knew about Shane/Lori before she jumped on Shane's bologna pony?
Quite frankly everyone in the group (who is capable) should be on a schedule to keep watch, clean up, cook, etc..... It shouldn't be just the women cooking & cleaning and the men hunting, etc... What if the men get sick/hurt/dies? The women need to know how to handle weapons, hunt for food, etc... Same thing w/ the men - they need to know how to wash, make meals, etc...
As for Randall, I don't know why he didn't say something @ the farm about Maggie. That just seemed really odd.
After seeing the preview for next weeks epsidoe I'm excited that there will be more storyline w/ Darryl involved. Perhaps he'll be the one to settle the power play between Shane/Andrea & Rick/Lori? LOL0 -

I disagree. In this scenario while walkers are still an active threat. I think the job of a soldier/security person should be a soldier/security person and nothing else. That's a basic strategy and anything short of that is dangerous. That's only if there's enough resources (people) to get the the mimimum jobs done. Just because Lori doesn't think things are "fair" that's too bad. If you remember Carol's husband from the first season and the scene at the quarry, that guy seemed like a waste and was a far stretch from Andrea now. Once the walkers become less of a threat then they could worry about everyone having fair jobs.0 -

hubs and I were laughing our butts off!0 -
I have a question.. at the very end of the episode, where they basically implying that the kid tried to something funky like swerve the car so he could break loose? They showed skid marks on the pavement, and next thing i know they're throwing him in the trunk again... I guess I'm a little dense.
I had a couple of theories during the episode which quickly didn't come true. At first I thought the kid was going to save both Rick & Shane's *kitten* thereby gaining trust. But nope. And, then I also thought they were going to leave Shane (which was rather surprising), but I assumed he would survive and come back for vengeance. And I was starting to get angry they would go down this path... but alas, they didn't.
Definitely some kind of foreshadowing going on with the bite-less zombie officers....0 -
While I was on Andrea's side of the logic when it came to Maggie's sister, the problem I have with her approach is trust. In this new world, if I can't trust you, this is a serious problem. And Maggie trusted Andrea to keep an eye on her sister. AND I believe Andrea exploited that trust. THAT'S what I have a problem with.
And Rick is definitely going to regret saving Shane. There's no reasoning with him. He cannot be trusted.
But I'm eager to find out what happens with this whole scratch, no bite thing. Some very good points in this thread about if they believed you could become a walker from a scratch, why are they being so careless with cutting themselves?0 -

Yes!! At one point I even said out loud "They look so bad *kitten* right now!"0 -

That's a good observation about the skid marks. I didn't notice after watching this episode two times. It may mean nothing, but I hope we will find out soon.
Yes there's something to the scratches, I don't think they would just write that in there for no reason, but the characters seem to NEVER be careful when fighting zombies or dealing with dead bodies. I'm no germophobe, but come on people, where some gloves already and keep your mouths closed! At least in 28 Days Later they were a concious of that. I just think that might be a little weakness in the consistency of the writers.0 -
totally agree with the inconsistant writing, pretty much a different writer every episode. I hope it doesn't leave holes in the story line for later episodes/seasons.0

On the grand scale, I don't have any problems with the overall writing, and I love the show. I have no issues with not seeing enough zombies, and I like the time the spend on character development. I've loved zombie movies most of my life (I know everyone says that now-a-days), but when you've seen as many as I have, you realize that TWD is totally at the top of the game. I also read the comic, it's the only comic I have read in the last 14 years and I started reading it in about 2005 or so, and learned early on you won't able to compare the two, so I have different expections. I most appreciate the things that are different about the show, which makes it very fresh for me.
I also am frighted that most of you MFP'ers sound like a bunch of blood thirsty psychos. Kill him or her, leave him or her to die....I don't want to be around any of you when the zombies come around.0 -
the part of him knowing maggie he said knew of maggie and her dad but she did not know him.0

Yeah the inconsistent writing is really getting on my nerves. I hope that some of the giant plot holes get plugged soon.0 -

What you considering giant plot holes? That's not the same thing as an unanswered quesiton is it?0 -
I don't think there will be giant plot holes. I just hope that the execs are doing their jobs and slapping around the writers when they need it0
