Ok so it's aaaaaaages away yes, but every good geek, cosplayer, larper and sci fi fan is already planning their costume - this year is the year i want to lose weight so i can do things i have always wanted to do and one of these is to make a costume for Halloween, i tend to procrastinate a lot so i figure if i put it here it has to happen - even if im sitting in my living room with no where to go but a kick *kitten* costume on. So far my list of ideas is thus;
Sub Zero Mortal Kombat
Altair Assassins Creed
Dark Brotherhood Assassin Skyrim
Solid Snake/Snake Pliskin Metal Gear Solid Sons of Liberty
Scout Trooper Empire Strikes Back
I was thinking of making it all myself where I can and have sourced the leather for Altair and the Dark Brotherhood but wondered what everyone else thought, what do you all want to go as this year and we can have a virtual Halloween party on here

what an awesome idea - we can all post pics of ourselves! i
to make costumes for my girls so i need an idea for me and two littlies? like a witch and two cats or a gorrilla and 2 bananas - that kind of thing. but cooler/nerdier.
oh and i would defo go with the Snake costume idea! so cool!0 -
Oh my god I LOVE making Halloween costumes. And yes, planning for the next year starts the day after Halloween hah
The Snake costume I feel may be the most original, but you would have a lot of reference material to work with if you did Altair or the Dark Brotherhood. Well, honestly they are all pretty decent ideas
I'd do some research and see which is going to be the "easiest" to make and make well. I vote the Dark Brotherhood assasin or Snake.
We should make a cosplay group so that we can talk along the way while we make our costumes this year or something. Interested?0 -
My guy and I plan to dress as a couple ~ He's going to be Han Solo and Im going to be Princess Leia (circa Jabba's place when she frees him from the carbonite). We are such geeks... Now if I can just get my kids to dress up like Jawas... Lol0

No idea yet! My yahoos want to be Red vs Blue this year, and I don't even know where to start! My oldest was Spock last year, and he rocked it! Too bad 90% of the people we saw didn't know who he was :grumble: What's the world coming to?!0

This is always my Halloween costume...0

OMG OMG OMG red vs blue for sure - dibs on being Caboose!
And yes lets keep the thread alive with progress i like this a lot, im leaning toward dark brotherhood i think...0 -
THAT is friggin' awesome...0

Depending on my physique I want to do the punisher. But OLD school punisher, white boots, gloves, utility belt and giant honking gun.
I do like the idea of the dark brotherhood from Skyrim. I like the idea of being a Nightingale even more... I may have to do that. That would be pretty bad *kitten*.
I unfortunately don't look like anyone/anything to make it a little easier. And these damn glasses screw up all my plans for costumes. I may need to look into contacts.0 -

WHAT I MEANT TO SAY... is THAT is friggin awesome... Lol0 -

I can't decide if I want to be the Doctor again or Chell from Portal ... hmmm decisions decisions. But I vote for Altair-Assassins Creed all the way !!!0

I made the coolest costume last year, it'll be hard to beat! I was one of the carnivore plants from super mario with the green tube and everything. If I knew how to add pictures I would!! It's a great idea!!0

This is always my Halloween costume...
Have you seen the Nightmare documentary? I worked on that... It was SO much fun!

For years I had a fall back of being The Crow - ala Brandon Lee. Then I started shaving my head so that was out. Last year I was the Grim Reaper. Lost a lot of little black feathers riding down Charleston. This year my hair might just be long enough to do The Crow again.0 -

I love Halloween! I pretty much start planning right after Halloween ends for the next year. My idea for this year thus far is The Black Dahlia.0

Same! I'm very much into "True Crime" and I think it's a pretty easy costume to pull off for those of us without any skillz lol0 -
Ditto!!
I scared the bananas out of my poor uncle. He's retired now, but he was a cop at the time. We had our first serial killer. It wasn't in any of the papers. They were trying to hide it. I was helping my auntie cook for Christmas and listening to him talk about it. He always has the BEST stories!!! I showed up the next day with a collection of books and videos.
He's all, "I love you. But you're scary some times. You know that right?"0 -

I think you should do Altair, but only because I've seen some really kicka** Assassin's Creed cosplay.
I haven't done Halloween the last year or two--or rather, I have, but I've used my Ren Fest outfits for it. This year, I'm thinking about resurrecting an old Zombie costume. Especially since I'll have old, ill-fitting clothes to destroy for it. Alternately, I may stick with the Rennie shtick and make a pirate costume. I've been sewing up pieces for some red coats for a musical, and the pattern is actually the Simplicity pirate pattern that came out after one of the POTC movies, and between that and the pirate shanties I've been listening to, it seems fitting.0 -
Okie dokie the shortlist is Altair or Dark Brotherhood n Snake i think i'll start pricing up materials this week n the tools i will need n ill keep a photo history too with designs n ideas, feel free to throw your own on the table0

Sherlock! The coat, the scarf, the perpetual scowl.
Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock. Not Robert Downey Jr.

I don't know how geeky it is, but I work at a car dealership and last year I came dressed as Flo, the Progressive Insurance Agent (complete with pricing gun and other props).0

I really wanna be Kimberly, the pink power ranger.. I'm going away for a girly weekend soon and we were meant to dress up as things beginning with the letter "K"
I was torn between Kimbery, Kruger, a bottle of Ketchup and a member of Kiss.. Unfortunately, all the girls couldn't think of enough things beginning with K so we changed the theme :sad:0 -

That costume list is epic. Though I am definitely voting for Solid Snake. It was a hard decision though. You can bring a box with you too! ;D
I know a couple of years ago when I started putting on weight, I really wanted to go to an anime con as Seong Mi Na (sp?) from Soul Calibur 3. But I never lost the weight.
I wonder what I should aim for this year? Hmmm....0
